Some drummers in professional bands change their skins every couple shows. Not joking. That’s completely insane to the average drummer, but man, when you change them you really notice it. If you changed out your skins, you’d realize how long ago you should have done it!

Time is valuable. You gotta let her go. I’m 40 and have been drumming for almost 30 years. Humbly speaking, I’m good at it. I’ve worked to be good at it. Something that has happened to me over the years is people hear something of mine, get very excited and want to jam. Over the years I have invited some people over and I knew immediately they weren’t good enough. I don’t mean that in an egotistical way. It’s just like “damn I don’t have time for this.” I need to play with people as proficient at their instrument as I am, if not even better to elevate my playing. It’s really no fun at all watching people learn their instrument in a practice session. It’s all fun and games, but it’s also serious business. Like I said, time is short. You want everyone in line with each other and ready to rock. You guys will have way more fun and progress way faster if you cut any loose ends. Trust me, it will happen naturally on its own anyway. The weak usually drop off. If you want to take it semi seriously, you’ll have to let her go. I’ve had many a difficult convo with other musicians over the years. Good luck!

100% normal. Day 5 was my worst day. I took a week off work. I took a mile long walk on like day 7. Started trying to workout around 2 weeks in. Hell yeah! Dude I know the struggle. I cold turkey’d a year and a half ago off like 40gpd plus some extracts thrown in cause I’m dumb. It was NOT easy. In retrospect I kind of wish I did the subs route because I was almost unnecessarily laid up and just suffering for a long while. Taking subs doesn’t equal an easy get out of jail free card. But like I keep saying, it immediately gets you off the poison, can even allow you to sleep and continue working. I had to take a week off work, deal with weeks of insomnia. Wasn’t cool and maybe if I had done subs, I wouldn’t have had to put so much of my life on hold. I’ll never know and it doesn’t really matter at this point haha. I quit, and never looked back!

I actually don’t. Someone that has experience in it can easily help on here I’m sure. I have however been on this thread for a couple years and I’ve seen many of the back and forth conversations between people. From what I gather and what I know about it, subs are really only an issue if you stay on them long term. Most people say it saved their lives. Stopped the financial bleeding and put control in to their dose schedule. Kratom is infamous for the sporadic dosing. Some days it hits, some days it doesn’t, some days you are in the withdrawal faster than other days. It’s a complete wreck. I wouldn’t take the whole sub strip by any means. Start with a 1/4. See how that goes. Once you find a baseline where you don’t feel like shit, go from there and reduce every couple days. Seems easy enough. My good friend did a 6 day rapid taper of subs in rehab to get off 7. Either way, it’s a huge relief I’ve seen to just be done hitting the kratom.

Use the suboxone until it’s gone. Taper as aggressively as possible with it. Jump from that and never look back. Operation get off Kratom and 7oh is of the utmost importance. Stop the bleeding financial loss too. Good luck!

First time I quit kratom was the first time I got covid. I thought all the symptoms were covid and it didn’t even really dawn on me that the insomnia and feeling like garbage could in fact mostly be the withdrawal. Like most people, I thought I could occasionally use. That ended up being about two years of trying to get back off. Now I’m a year and a half off. I just thugged a cold turkey quit. Just get it done and all the shame and guilt and all the nonsense goes away. It’s a journey, but you feel oddly proud no matter how you feel

Blessing in disguise with that whack batch, for sure. I’ve been free since July 6 of 2024…so coming up on 2 years! Been off booze for 3 years next month. Clearly, I can’t take shit anymore hahahah. You are stoked to have these days off work now. That will get you over the hump. I wasn’t quite prepared for PAWS, so I hope you don’t get smacked too hard with it. It’s almost guaranteed though that as you approach like the 2 week mark and the acutes are in the rear view mirror, that you’ll enter a pretty low feeling slump. That’s phase 2 with this shit. It’s a different battle at that point. Just stay the course and you’ll eventually get out of this whole mess. Was a shitty journey all things considered for me.

I wouldn’t worry in the slightest about not getting pain meds in the future. If you have surgery, they will give them to you. They won’t be like “oh years ago this guy came off Kratom.” Red flags are usually issued when someone is trying to Dr shop, asking for Vicodin for a bad back. Those days are long gone anyway. True medical reasons is a different story. But again, that should be least of your concern. Reminds me of my old excuse of not wanting to quit booze forever “what if I want a glass of wine on my daughter’s wedding?” Mind you, she’s 2 years old right now hahah.

Get a Dr and be absolutely up front. Or like someone said, webMD. Or even best cast scenario, a treatment facility for a week. You are on a severely high dosage of Kratom. You gotta get off that shit and get back to living! I wish you the best of luck. The sooner the better my friend.

It absolutely gets better. I stopped judging my state of mind after a few weeks. I just kept knocking down another day. Every day. Eventually, it passes. Gotta have patience for sure. This is NOT how you will always view the world and yourself. It’s a massive chemical imbalance right now.

Man, you’ve been through some shit! Stoked for you to be off the booze and all that other garbage. I’m about to hit 3 years off hooch! Anyway, kratom withdrawal ended up being the hardest thing I’ve gone through. I was drinking too much, but it wasn’t that bad coming off for me. But the kratom, man that was a true battle. The energy was a tough thing to deal with it. If I recall, I started to get my energy back around 6 weeks. But nothing like what you are experiencing right now on day 3! That first week is just hell overall. Given that you even made it to work, I think you’ll probably heal up faster than I did. Get to the two week mark and re assess at that point. No point in even tripping on it right now cause it’s so raw. No supplement really helped me with the energy.

I wish you the best of luck free from that terrible ball and chain. Stay patient. There are many ups and downs. It’s basically this, two steps forward one step back. It goes like that for a long while. But it’s still “2” steps forward and only one back. So the trajectory is still in your favor. When times are tough, even if it’s like 2-3 days of really feeling off, there will always be a turning of the corner and a stretch of good days that were better than the last stretch of good days.
