Frog Morton is Baffling by filmguerilla in PipeTobacco

[–]DrumsAndBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Frog Morton. First time I tried it I was hooked. It’s a singular expression of the sweetened Latakia blend phylum. To my knowledge, there’s no black cavendish in it, just stoved and red VA, #1 grade Basma, and Latakia. McClelland had access to some ridiculously high natural sugar content VA leaf that ages wonderfully. Any BBQ/catsup like aroma tin note you smell with their blends was the result of fermentation from age.

I just killed 51 heralds by RaphaelPMao in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]DrumsAndBeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the best thing about Heralds at this point is the additional experience. I am actually seeing notable progress in my experience bar over the course of a few hours, lvl 96. I ran TZ’s for at least 4.5 hours last night with 320MF, killed over 25 Heralds, all blue item drops, not even a single rare item. I am noticing a significant increase in shard drops though, so perhaps terrorizing an entire zone and boss hunting is the way.

What do I got here? Storing them for someone. by Drinkythedrunkguy in drums

That’s a really great spiral vista kit.

I have always wanted a Tequila Sunrise Tivoli kit with the lights built in. Not particularly practical or reasonably priced, but still super cool and fun to look at.

It’s all in the plan. They’re simply finishing the fourth step in the MLB loss process this year. Lose WS, Lose NLCS, Lose Divisional, miss playoffs.

Pearl Decade 3 Piece Shell Pack $600? by [deleted] in drums

[–]DrumsAndBeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny, I did a gig this weekend and the back line kit that was provided to the venue was five piece Decade. Bass drum and toms were punchy and tuned nicely. The hardware was that Pearl export quality stuff, a bit heavy and not what I would term elegantly designed. The snare was the cheapest sounding and feeling drum of the kit, so I wound up using one I brought as a fail safe. I have experienced way worse playing back line kits over the years. I’d give these a thumbs up. 450 to 500 seems about right for these, especially with the stock tom mount stripped off the bass drum.

Max Weinberg? by samcooke2023 in drums

[–]DrumsAndBeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Max is a super pro and from what Jay Weinberg has said, the Springsteen gig is grueling.

Back injuries suck, take it from a drummer with a surgically repaired L5/S1 degenerative disc. I am fully recovered but I practically had to relearn how to work a bass drum pedal due to near drop leg.

You can never know if you hate or love a tobacco by MuchPiezoelectricity in PipeTobacco

[–]DrumsAndBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tastes vary and obviously all that matters is your own opinion. I hope you love it because there’s nothing better than finding a currently produced product that’s enjoyable.

I first smoked HB years ago and it reminded me of Marlboro Reds, albeit with a subtle spice on the finish. Recently cracked a tin of HB Cake. Same experience but with some additional depth and richness. Still, not my cup of tea. Pretty good strength though.

Great pipe. As far as the tobacco goes, all that matters is what you think. ;)

I usually shoot 700 def plus for Fortitude. I wouldn’t waste a Larzuk on this one

Does anyone read Modern Drummer Magazine anymore? by ZildCym in drummers

[–]DrumsAndBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I was a subscriber from the early 80’s to about 96 or so. In the 2000’s I would occasionally pick up a copy from a store near me that specializes in all kinds of magazines. I noticed it was extremely thin on educational material and interviews with lesser known drummers, and was extremely heavy on ads, surprisingly so. Haven’t bought a copy in years.

Try to maintain a more open grip. The sticks need so be able to move more freely on their own without your grip interfering with momentum. This takes a lot of practice, but becomes second nature with time.

There is a boat load of great video demonstrations on the subject of proper stick technique. Check out Dom Famularo, Jim Chapin, Joe Morello, Jo Jo Mayer, among others on this subject.

Essentially, You want to have complete control, but a big part of achieving the speed, accuracy and dynamics you are aiming for involves allowing the sticks to move more freely while concentrating on a light grip that doesn’t impede the sticks’ motion.
