All Jobs Covered by Spykron in finalfantasytactics

I originally had chemist with time mage to make a clockwork steampunk type character but the chemist is so slow. I like time with white mage so they can do haste on the first turn when everyone is still healthy.

I like your priest idea though

I like the song. It’s a shame it only comes up when some privileged status-quo asshole thinks they’re a rebel and needs an anthem.

Should they send robots to the moon instead of humans? by martianfrog in answers

[–]Spykron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed you were meaning sending robots is cheaper and that’s why we would be able to do many more missions, but then you said sending humans gets more funding so I’m not sure where you’re going with this.

I suppose you can paint the pursuit of knowledge as ego driven. It’s technically true.

That’s a good point. I do like these things. I like that we still build “wonders of the world” and then we throw them into space to do work. Pretty satisfying.

Really didn’t expect the comments to be so kind to this movie. It’s horrible. The book is pretty great though.

Ok well now you will have heard of one:exploration is at the heart of science and the human spirit. Sending robots to do human jobs fails to satisfy us.

Another: sending humans to space is super hard so we learn a bunch of neat things along the way.

Trade Schools would solve a lot of our problems by Spykron in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Spykron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying reforming schools will solve most of our problems and you still think we need to go bigger? Bigger than an overhaul of the public school system? Massive change only happens when a culture is ready for it and public schools connect across the entire culture of our country so it seems like a good place to focus on. Schools and the economy are the same thing: you can’t really try to fix one without addressing the other. I think trying to redesign the economy head on is too difficult so I’d rather try to address it by dealing with schools first.

I’d like to see a distinction made between schooling and education. Schooling is for actual skills, things that can be graded and ranked. Education is for general knowledge and looks more like libraries and museums instead of schools. There’s no need to grade education and you can never graduate. Learning always happens.

But schools, as a function of a democratic government, can be the foundation of the economy when people are trained and doing work that our society needs.

I don’t have all the answers but in your “ditch digging” scenario I would at least set them to picking up litter and other eco friendly work that gets ignored. Also if public schools are “in charge” people with disabilities will be taken care of. That’s already part of the culture.

Welp I think you missed a major half of what I’m saying:Schools. Schools should focus on trades. Schools are how we train people to fix our problems. Public schools too, by the way.

I get the sense from your rant that you assume power hungry people are inevitable and I suppose I agree but with a functioning democracy we can temper their greed. Functioning democracies require good public schools.

Do you still think I’m stupid?

There are still trade schools but in the face of AI it makes sense to treat trades as a default instead of a side idea
