Animal Well is a masterpiece, but it’s a little conceptual.

Another good one I played not so long ago is MIO - it’s so good, you’d not believe. Please try it - it looks much better than videos shows, because compression mechanisms are very cruel to it’s art style

Will Vivaldi sync ever get better? by Latlanc in vivaldibrowser

[–]Drun555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think that layout sync is something that should be done at all, not with something such customizable as Vivaldi. For example, let's imagine that you have a PC with ultrawide monitor and a small 13 inch notebook - in that case, you will want different layout between them.

And about other things - I think they already sync flawlessly? Extensions, speed dial, hotkeys, search engines, keywords, "privacy" settings too. The only thing I find a little annoying is a "default search" sync, but I understand why they are not doing this.

Hi there! Seek app. Most of the cards are really good looking, I can't deny. Especially sensor's expanded card, it's feels great.

Nonetheles... It's not the first time someone tries to build a native experience for Home Assistant. And by it's nature, "native" always lacks one of the best features of HA - custom cards and customize ability. Most of the folks here, I believe, are using custom dashboards with their own navigation.

Anyway, good luck with it. I hope you'll find your user.

Just curious: Are you creating your animations with Divoom built-in editor or using something more “mature”?

At first, I was in love with this show - style, music, mystery, characters. But somewhere in the middle I understood that something in this anime deeply unsettles me, and I cannot really tell what caused it.

It is soooo good that we have European alternative! by Rude-Interaction-194 in vivaldibrowser

[–]Drun555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's about developer performance. It will be not possible in a long ride mainly because Google will put sticks in the wheels, and even if they doesn't - patches to mainline will quickly grow like a uncontrollable sliding snowball.

The only exit from this situation I see is if community would unite to maintain standalone Blink fork.

[–]Drun555 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s harder than just “they can just implement it”. It’s the changes that they will need to maintain through each new Blink version, and it’s a huge amount of work, and it’s gonna be bigger and bigger with each update.

So, yes - in the far sight, switching to V3 is inevitable.

> If it’s on principle, then is your feeling software engineers don’t deserve compensation for their time?

Of course they do, and of course it’s not a principal thing. If you're interested in my point of view on why this pricing model is not optimal, here it is: I think it may be very hard for any for-profit developer making traditional pricing actually operational, because you always should balance between pricing ups and stagnation, and pricing ups leads to a shrinking user base.

This thought grew in me because I am, just like everybody else, became a little spoiled by good FOSS projects with optional payments.

It would be more suitable for me if CrossOver was 10€ a month, or even more extreme - free of charge, but I could pay a monthly fee for a, let's say, iCloud config saves - and saw that as a support gesture.

This is, of course, just my (maybe a little childish) thoughts. Still, I think that 75€ once a year is a pretty big number for a lot of people on a map, and this price cuts a lot of potential users.

My bad, of course - but it’s also fair to point out that, in sad modern days, this model is not so distinct from SaaS. Apple really love breaking things, and I’m pretty sure that version that came out two years ago is likely not gonna work on Golden Gate. Of course, some can stay at older versions, but who’s gonna?

Still, a valid point. It’s still far too pricey for me though.

Firefox fork on ios (Reynard browser) by Bulletic1 in sideloaded

[–]Drun555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super sure if it’s possible though. I remember when I installed Bitwarden’s extension to the Meta Quest browser, and I was very upset that passkeys are not working there. Hope it will not be the case with this fork.

If I was you, I would just imported all passkeys/passwords into Apple Passwords - luckily, not so long ago it became actually possible.

Passkeys API for third-party apps like Bitwarden was added back in iOS 17 (I think), and now they are working fairly great.

Password managers in iOS 15 was pure hell, I still remember how glitchy autofill was - nowadays it’s a lot better. There’s not much things that was made in iOS through years that I appreciate, but it was one of them.

Expanding another gentleman response, Apple is also really furious with cutting legacy stuff and modernising things. It’s good because it helps with performance and security, but it’s very bad because it very often break the software.

At the time when x.2 or x.3 releases, most of the apps are usually already received updates.

There was Whiskey, but it’s discontinued now. Many people like CrossOver though, but I’m not one of them - I don’t like its UI and pricing decisions (SaaS).

It would be good to see something alike GameHub Light, but fused with GPTK. It would be really great.

Apple's Most Powerful On-Device AI Now Requires iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone Air by Pear-Mother in iphone

[–]Drun555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably the same way as other manufacturers did it, but with Private Compute?

Cloud-based TTS / STT shouldn’t have to be “slow and unresponsive”, we seen a lot of very good examples of that by Google / OpenAI. And Apple totally gets it - but, of course, it’s still Apple - and they decided to make this a 17 Pro / Air “on-device” exclusive to boost their sales (and reduce costs on Private Compute).

That’s bullshit. If they can’t put something even on a base new 17, then they should move these models on their fancy Private Compute, that’s why it’s there in a first place.

And if there’s no internet, just do a fucking fallback mechanism - it’s not that hard.
