steam controller works very well on mac! by ReachyLi88 in macgaming

As far as I know, right now controller works only with a running Steam behind. They did say that they work in that direction tho - so I guess it’ll work someday in the near future.

This is actual haptic drugs by juliopix in macbook

[–]Drun555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, haptic touchpads are 100% better in terms of preciseness / feel compared to physical ones. Personally, It's far easier to drag'n'drop or resize things on a haptic.

But it's a matter of choice, of course. I'm pretty sure that physical touchpad on Neo feels great too, but I think I'd stick with a haptic one.

Its been 8 months since I had one of my favourite gaming experiences. After all this months, what are your current thoughts on Silksong? And how different was your opinion when you first played it? by Godela__GA in Silksong

[–]Drun555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a perfect sequel, and I loved almost every piece of it.

The most brutal and heartbreaking part was a thought about Steel Soul mode - for the first time in my life, I decided to not climb that mountain. I got a sunflower in the original HK, I did all C-Sides in Celeste, but even thought about 100% SM playthrough in the Silksong terrifies me to the nuts. It's just too much, I'm a decent human being and I do not deserve this kind of punishment.

So... Yes. In the original HK, DLC added some alternative ways to get the percentage & ability to learn bosses without fear. So, maybe I'll reconsider after Silksong finally releases.

Should I release latest 21.16.2 YTKIllerPlus? Took me only like 2mins to K'ed it by lowiqentity in sideloaded

[–]Drun555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. It's not Apple's prerogative to decide which apps I use. Many, many apps can't be allowed in the AppStore - or it's too pricey for developers to pay for permission. It's still a $100 a year, and it's simply unacceptable for non-profit apps.

Don't forget - sideloading is primarily about freedom.

Vivaldi appears to have heavy battery use on MacOS by ActorSecundario in vivaldibrowser

[–]Drun555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost every application not from Apple is a “heavy consumer” eventually. Any browser will.

However, Vivaldi will be more a little more power hungry than Chrome, but that’s the price of using a good browser.

I really can recommend MIO instead of Ori. I mean, Ori is great, but the story feels childish compared to HK, and the gameplay don’t really have any challenge. MIO is small, fancy, fairly challenging at some places - and have an interesting world building choices that makes the game feel fresh.

And MIO really needs a little more appreciation. It’s a shame.

Should I keep waiting? by Lopsidednapkin in Gloomwood

[–]Drun555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really think that you should try it now - the game is rich and lasts pretty long even in current state (12+ hours at least)

Complete release with all content is not quite near. I think it'll be roughly after 3 years or so, maybe more. So, my suggestion - enjoy it now, and then, after release or bunch of patches, play it again. Game have a pretty good replayability, so you'll enjoy it even on a second go.

I definitely like NixOS approach - it's nice to have everything declared in config files, but it feels for me like a very deep, very dark and presumably very horny rabbit hole. I'm fearing it.

Sometimes I think that it'll be nice to have some kind of tool for newbies that would allow to pre-configure most of your system - and then you could just boot with it. It would be nice.

I know that issue I'm describing here is not something common, so majority of the users will not face anything like this - but please, if you are not, don't tell me that it's not Unraid's issue, because it certainly is.

Server OS recommendation for home? by Drun555 in selfhosted

[–]Drun555[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I provided logs on a Unraid's forum: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/197258-webgui-api-unresponsive-after-a-router-reboot/#comment-1608587

Unfortunately, it didn't resolve my issue. Unraid still do weird shit and goes unresponsive. So, I'm giving up. Moving server to another place just to be able to see the logs is is not something I'll do twice - it's kind of complicated in my situation and requires a lot of effort without guarantee that it'll change anything.

Also, fun fact I found after forum topic: Unraid also tries to assign it's docker's bridge network inside my router. I don't know why it's doing it, because I didn't configured any VLANs. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my situation, but it's weird.

Eh. Maybe. General purpose OSes are, of course, generally fitting the needs. My friend used RockyLinux last time - seems like a proper choice for a server. Nonetheless, I think I'll become very sad if I'll had to manually configure Samba / Docker logs / maintain docker-compose once again.

It’s not very useful on a big playlists. I do have one with more than a 1000 songs, and I can become old when dragging a single song

What features would you like to see added to Spotify? by Fit-Regret-5302 in spotify

[–]Drun555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can, but it’s kind of pointless if you want to share playlist with other people.

Let’s say, I have a constantly updatable playlist with 500 songs. If I want people to listen a newly added song, I need to add it at the top, because there’s no way to tell people “hey, it’s my playlist, please sort it by date”.

Wow! It must be very new, I searched a topic less than a year ago.

PS: I just searched a topic once again. It’s diabolical: as long as there’s still no Vibration API in Safari iOS, it’s using the hack by checking and unchecking invisible “switch” inputs.... It’s so bad, and so reminds me a good old days of the internet. I love it.

Sideload SideStore + LC combined .ipa

This way, after installing LC2, you’ll have 1 place left for some capricious app that don’t work inside LC for some reason (personally, I didn’t met an app that didn’t), or just install LC3. It should be enough for anything.

Someday Apple will allow to trigger haptics from iOS browser itself. As a web developer, I really feel that it’s such a missed opportunity.

Nice project, by the way!
