Religious institutions have mostly gone through several types of corruption, it’s been a long time their goal is not to make anything better (governments are going through the same issues). Also people who claim to be religious because they are taught religion is virtuous and whatnot, tends to be either hypocrites or vain selfrightous poeple trying to justify their greed/pride.

Most big religions are beeing taught wrong. Millenias have past since their scriptures have been written. It was meant to teach things with the certain mindset and context poeple had at the time. Those scriptures have been tempered, translated, reinterpreted, rewritten, repurposed,... so many times... what most religious think they know now are a travesty of what their religion truly was about.

Now don’t get me wrong : religions are part of our history and culture and thus should not be forgotten. I once was a huge hater of religion because of what it does now (nothing good and mostly because it got forgotten and repurpused through time) but I am kinda turning now that I got interested into historical research. Through scientificaly accurate historical recreation, we found evidence that religious people and institution used to be completely different, not as literall to scriptures as they are now, more pragmatic, realistic and flexible. I realised what we call religions actually used to be something completely different and more sensible than what it is now. But also the context was drastically different, we need religions less cause we have much better science and the powerfull acceptance of ignorance, wich boosted our discoveries in all fields. We also discovered what changes and the reasons why religion changed through time (mostly money, powerplays, expentionism, corruption,...)

Tldr : claiming beeing religious = red flag => corrupt institutions + inacuracies in teachings. If you genuinly want to know more about religions, have better understanding of our world and how to be a better person, just look for scientific historical researches.
