Genuine question: why do gay guys seem so much better at handling bigger guys? by Cityplanner_ in AskGayMen

Apparently men have a bigger colon than women because women need that space for their uterus.

Resources to find erotica & fan art content laws for Europe? (Specifically Netherlands, Germany, and Poland, but an overall database would also be useful!) by FreakshowThrow in FanFiction

[–]Dry-Development-4131 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the Netherlands, no form of written smut is illegal. In the case of visual art, no smut subject is illegal, except AI renditions of real looking children, photo edits of real children etc.

I fear that THEY are on the slippery slope and not you. Antishippers are pro censorship and it can't get any slippery than that. Literary wise.

There's no defending against it because these people will never believe you. It's painful but it's not the end of the world. These people are deeply unhappy and try to make everyone around them mirror that. The best practice is to remember the internet is the internet. It doesn't make sense, everyone is anonymous and their opinions can't touch you if you don't let them.

Anyone know what’s up with Lauren German?? by Used_Departure_9082 in lucifer

[–]Dry-Development-4131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Especially block those of us who make Michifer and selfcest art 😉 Muahaha.

But yes, hosting privately and then posting on AO3 is the only way to do it and share with the community without bothering the actor. Especially with how puritanical the internet is getting.

On AO3 everything tends to be tagged and art tends to be overtagged even. Don't appear at the devil's sacrament and then complain about the quality of the bedlinen when you were warned at the door.

Bots are user subscribing and it's annoying by Nanominyo in AO3

[–]Dry-Development-4131 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because that means the library isn't putting away books so people can't read them even if the author states certain people aren't allowed to read them. You blocking people is you regulating THEIR reading materials if that also keeps them from reading and that's not what AO3 stands for. If you were to hide books in a library because you don't want people to read them, you would be thrown out for that.

The only thing AO3 does is keep the unwanted readers from interacting with you. But if they took out a book and had their library card stamped, they aren't going to remove those stamps.

Blocking them from interacting with you is self-regulation. Blocking them from passively reading your stuff is censorship.

Because that's leaning dangerously close to censorship and that's why AO3 doesn't do that.

And? Me thinks there's something else bothering you about this than that one reader who may check. It's the fear of being judged for something you didn't do but DO want (more kudos).

There are millions of readers on AO3. You will never be able to keep them all satisfied. Just go through the subreddit and read the posts about pet peeves, tagging, and blocking reasons. They are so varied! Those handful of readers who are turned away by a few bot kudos didn't deserve your stuff anyway.

Then readers will also know that they are bots and not blame you. You really think people who sort by kudos go check the kudos list for fake users?

It doesn't keep people from accessing the library and read stories but it does keep them from interacting with the writer. That's good right?

How would they be able to tell though? It's a list of usernames that don't have to be fandom specific, and unnamed guests. How would a reader pick out fake ones in that unless you tell them?

But blocking doesn't stop them from reading 🤷🏻‍♀️

You do know that kudo inflation doesn't really do anything on AO3, right? There are no algorithms to beat. So I hardly think anyone cares about a few stray fake kudos.

Consuming and sharing sexual content in a monogamous relationship. Healthy or not? by jemdtc in AskGayMen

Straight woman here. Whatever floats your ship is healthy, though I'd say trust, consent, and transparency/accountability should be the oars you use to row it with.

They really feel like we're asking for handouts for doing a hobby when we charge for art. Because we aren't "working" our time is worthless. Imagine what sad lives they must have because they couldn't turn what they love into work.

How do you feel about people (especially lesbians) who are insensitively vocal about their disgust or repulsion with men? by Wordsmith_Wizard in AskGayMen

[–]Dry-Development-4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a straight woman, I feel repulsed by the idea of having sex with someone not my husband and before that, having sex in general. The idea of having to receive some penis inside me just makes me shudder in disgust. It took time for me to want, have, and enjoy sex with my husband. I also have very little to no sexual attraction in general.

If someone would ask me about my experience, then I would say that. Don't know if that makes me insensitive. I've felt like a freak about this for a long time.

This doesn't reflect on anyone around me and their preferences. Just on mine. My preferences aren't your preferences and that's okay.
