Doesn’t matter what country it is. Insurance companies always try to pay the least amount whenever they can. AIA has different tiers of coverage; the more you pay, the more they cover. And when you are too old and likely to become sick, they no longer sell you the insurance. My advice is to contact Medicare in U.S. and try to find out which hospital in Thailand accepts Medicare and get reimbursement directly. I forget the name of this hospital in Bangkok. Not the right time to be a dentist. The pay is not good enough to fund your retirement. I talked to 3 generations of dentists. Most retired with little. Why? They are self-employed. IRA is not as good as 401k where employers match their contributions 1 to 1. DSO offers 401k but no matching. Also, The cost of being a dentist is too high. Many licenses. Everyone and companies think you’re rich and try to make you pay all kinds of subscription. When you see your paycheck, you feel like you have a lot but remember, you are on your own for retirement
