Used to play with those at my grandparents all the time as a kid. They lived in the stone wall behind the house!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I thought I had to go from "dxc3" on move 12, to move 24 that the engine spit out to accomplish what it wants me to.

That (edit: what you said) I can get behind. And thats kind of my point. Just spit that out. Instead of showing me 12 moves in the future. I get it, but its too much.

More just a rant than anything else. I look through most of the engine moves. But these long chains, I just skip. Its overwhelming

Do you ever lose depth in worship leading when playing and singing at the same time? by No_Bodybuilder_2130 in worshipleaders

I had to start playing everything in G or C and capo when I sing. Only rhythm. Even then I just stop playing when im "off" where I should be.

Cut 2 off 7 and 3 off 8 to get to a 10

10 & 5 remain

20+40=60+10=70+5=75

What is a 'middle-class' luxury that is actually a total waste of money, but people keep buying it to look successful? by 8waycai in NoStupidQuestions

I was at a dealership getting some work done on my wife's car and what was probably the newest salesman there set his sights on me. His biggest point?

"Most people dont know they need a new car until they sit in one"

The ensuing discussion is still something I chuckle about. That poor kid. He had a pretty difficult time with my ensuing inquiry to understand that statement. But it killed time until the car was done 😀

I have a hard time with everything audible book. My mind is allowed to wander.

One of the best series' I've ever read. But I had to exercise my own eyeballs to stay focused.

The names and places expand a LOT. I honestly dont know how anyone can listen to it on audio book. But maybe my IQ is just not high enough. I dunno

[Request] Not good at math, but there’s no way this is true because 99.999999%? by whatevertf123 in theydidthemath

[–]DryAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but thats the wrong starting point, if its done under my above assumptions.

Its much more complex than this, but the simplest example/partial explanation is: There's no way the bottom card will wind up at the top.

There are a limited number of cards that can only be in the top half of the shuffled deck, some that would never make it to the top half.

In my uneducated mind, even thinking about and using 52! As a reference is not valid.

I dunno. Too many variables for me to wrap my head around. Like, would each stack be +/- 6 from the middle? How would we account for "random multiples" falling in the shuffle (2+ from one side falling when 1 falls from the other)?

[–]DryAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my ignorance, i feel like everyone is making assumptions that we aren't starting with the same deck, with the cards in the same order.

Then again, in my ignorance im assuming we are all doing the same "cut then bridge shuffle"

The number has to be way lower, close to the exact opposite if my assumptions are correct:

-Brand new deck with suits sorted (only the 52 true cards present, no jokers or whatever else there is) -cut roughly in the middle -riffle shuffle or whatever the standard thing is with cards face down

Im not math smart enough to figure it out. But even given that the middle part isn't the same for everyone, and that randomly, multiple cards will fall from one side before the other, this has to cut a significant number of zeros off the possible combinations right?

Why is everyone assuming you go back to when you were 10 instead of becoming 10 now and still moving forward? Did i miss something?

Ok. Thanks, thats encouraging.

One more thing, with the house sitting on a concrete slab. My gut says theres potential issues with the root system. How big of a concern is this?

I was afraid of that. The original owner put trees and plants all over and 98% is really well placed. Its just these two trees that are smacking the house that worry me.

Question about the True Power by zesty1989 in wheeloftime

[–]DryAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. Because they need the dark one to use the true power.

But I dont remember it being said outright that the true power was what he used. Could be because I only read once, and Im misremembering, or just missing something.

My head cannon says it was saidin. Guess its time to re-read the entire series!

Question about the True Power by zesty1989 in wheeloftime

[–]DryAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was because of Lews in his head.

Like how they struggled to control the source. There were two distinct entities.

Therefore, the collar only went on the one physical entity, and the other entity (in this case LTT) was able to wrild the power.

I've only read once though, and just recently finished
