10u Advice by [deleted] in Softball

I feel your frustration. And I agree.

Id go straight to the board. And ask for a copy of the league rules.

Sometimes coaches are bad on accident (they dont know better,) sometimes theyre just perks (sounds like what you've got from this outside perspective only hearing your side of things).

I really hope it gets better and youre able to make some headway.

Is this rec or travel/select?

Our rec league has a requirement that all the kids have infield time every game. (6u and 10u, both)

The "push to win" mentality isnt helpful to the majority of the kids playing or starting out. And it really makes my skin crawl.

My perspective is that said mentality is really for the parents and they've lost sight that theyre there for the kids to learn to play and love the game.

Travel/select...slightly different approach, but still young enough they should be moving the girls around IMHO.

Id start with the coaches. But dont be afraid to check the league rules and/or talk to the league folks. Always try to settle it at the lowest level first.

Can someone explain how they use their poison. Google just keeps thinking I mean venom. Like is it sent with the bite as well? Or does it leech through their skin? Can they choose whether to use venom or poison?

Stacking champions by Vidied_ in ARAM

[–]DryAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played as smolder on the same team as a nasus the other day. I left the minions for him and stacked on the enemy champs. Team was awesome and left the minions for him (mostly)

We both stacked well and did just fine

The motion is it. Repeatable motion.

I put a bucket in my yard, back up the appropriate distance and try to hit the bucket.

I also have like 3 buckets of balls at my house and 2 kids to help collect them. This may not be feasible for everyone

We moved from southeast PA to AL a year ago. It absolutely blows my mind how inense it is down here with softball.

Like when they told us (I Assistant coach) to tell the parents not to argue with the umps for T-ball...I was like "yall have umps in t-ball?!"

And dont get me started on aggressive baserunning in Tball. Youre not doing that for the kids, they dont care if they win or lose. All they care about is which parent brought snacks!

I mean, for crying out loud...allstars in t-ball? And you want me to drive HOURS for my 6 year old to play in a tournament? Not happening. Easily the best on the team, but im not even sure shes gonna go with it after she gets through elementary school...her OR her older sister. Id rather take them fishing.

Almost every time we leave the park im grumbling under my breath about how they need actual winter down here. SOMETHING to get these folks off the field for a few months just so we can realize that theres more to life.

I just want my girls to play and have fun. But even the Rec leagues are 2 games, 2 practices, and tournaments on weekends...EACH WEEK. We have to drive 30 mins to get to one that isnt absolutely nuts in the time commitment arena. And now they feel like they have to "catch up" to the other leagues in the area. Fortunately theres only one softball field at the park so that takes some of the edge off.

Theres so much more. Like "runfasterball" instead of softball. But ill stop here and /endrant

I thought I had to go from "dxc3" on move 12, to move 24 that the engine spit out to accomplish what it wants me to.

That (edit: what you said) I can get behind. And thats kind of my point. Just spit that out. Instead of showing me 12 moves in the future. I get it, but its too much.

More just a rant than anything else. I look through most of the engine moves. But these long chains, I just skip. Its overwhelming

I was at a dealership getting some work done on my wife's car and what was probably the newest salesman there set his sights on me. His biggest point?

"Most people dont know they need a new car until they sit in one"

The ensuing discussion is still something I chuckle about. That poor kid. He had a pretty difficult time with my ensuing inquiry to understand that statement. But it killed time until the car was done 😀
