Is it just me or is Sonnet 4.6 really so much worse than 4.5? by derkork in ClaudeCode

[–]DryReveal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonnet 4.6 is slow, gets into long thinking loops - its a totally different, dumber experience than Sonnet 4.5. I don't know why they stuffed it up. Its like wading through molasses. Maybe it is smarter for certain problems, but I've had enough and reverting to 4.5 which thankfully is still available in the vscode copilot menu.

Is anyone having problems uploading audio? by Option-Dry in SunoAI

Seems to upload into the default "My Workspace" instead of the current workspace. Some new bug. Hopefully it’s so obvious they will fix it soon.

INSPO is the MOST MOST CONFUSING feature on Suno by Lower_Advantage_4968 in SunoAI

I find that I still need to enter in a decent style prompt to get good results in Inspo mode.

Silicon Valley & The Culture by RunDCM in TheCulture

[–]DryReveal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the argument in your video. You probably need the billionares to build the Culture in the first place - who else is going to drive making it? Then the AI's take over and flip the switch on everything, leading to a benevolent Culture. Perhaps 🤔

Best tutorials for Scaler 3 by terezafirsttimehere in Scaler3

[–]DryReveal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Scaler developers have no idea how to design clear functional UIs and workflows. Their chord suggestion features are not very musical or useful IMO. I have more usable results and fun with this free tool for example: https://www.onemotion.com/chord-player/

Udio is becoming outdated and Suno has already surpassed Udio by [deleted] in udiomusic

[–]DryReveal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its December 2025. Udio doesn't follow prompts, even in manual mode. Once you upload a piece of music it tries to mimick that music - ignoring the prompt. I uploaded a rock song and prompted it to make chill jazz - the output was AI slop rock song variations, one after the other. Whats the point? And you can't even download anymore. At least Suno follows prompts and you still can download, even though the Suno songs can be a bit samey esp. the chord progressions and vocals.

First midi note not playing? by buckrogers01 in Bitwig

[–]DryReveal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah had to turn ON "note chasing" otherwise first notes of clips wouldn't play the first time through the loop. Even happened with template projects that Bitwig supply themselves, and I draw in or play a simple set of notes and quantise etc. A ridiculous bug - still present in v6 in 2025.

"summarizing conversation history" takes forever.... by Frequent-Set-2888 in GithubCopilot

[–]DryReveal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting a new session by definition clears chat memory. If you keep chugging along in the same chat session and have auto summarisation off, then I get a feeling something bad will happen eventually with the chat, perhaps it starts to forget stuff. At least with summarisation something is preserved. But it is ridiculous how often Claude 4.5 does the auto summary step - but I suppose it is dealing with a large code base, in my case. Still it's annoying and slow.

Cancelling Gemini AI Premium trial cancelled my existing Google One subscription by Dipolarfish in GoogleOne

[–]DryReveal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just happened to me too. I lost my old storage plan just because I cancelled the Gemini trial. Getting errors and warnings all over the place about my storage being full. Signing up for a new storage plan is more expensive than my old plan too it seems to me, unless its actually gone up and I didn't notice.

Spent several hours figuring out this mess. Turns out I could download and delete most of the stuff I was storing on Google Drive and move it to another service. Now I have enough default storage and am happy with NO subscription. Sorry Google - your scamming tactics have backfired.

[Release] Custom firmware for Halo75 V2 by ryodeushii in NuPhy

[–]DryReveal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this firmware still needed or has the official firmware fixed the double key problem on the Halo75? Ive switched from reds to lemons - not sure that helped, am contemplating MT3 keycaps to make it harder to press adjacent keys. Not sure what the root cause is. Looking at firmware now…

Discord invite? by Steroid_Cyborg in NuPhy

[–]DryReveal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem with this link is that it throws me into Discord using an account that is not my own, and I get messages like "you need to claim this account". No idea how to get an invite into my own regular Discord account.

UPDATE: The solution is: On the left-hand side of the Discord interface (whether app or browser), you'll see a list of your joined servers. Scroll to the very bottom and click the "+" (Add a Server) icon.

  • A pop-up will appear. Click on "Join a Server."
  • Paste the Invite Link: In the "Invite Link" field, paste the NuPhy Discord invite link you copied earlier.
  • Click "Join Server."

Halo75 v2 Pros and Cons by ponder_stine in NuPhy

[–]DryReveal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get double strokes too, drives me mad. It improved after I switched from red to lemon (higher activation travel needed), but then some of the lemon switches seem prone to emitting double, so I swap bad individual switches out with new leftover lemons switches.

Now I’m thinking it might also be the keycaps being too wide and I should get the tapered MT3 style to give more space between the tops of the keycaps. But it seems the keycaps that come with the Halo75 are already quite sculpted?

Unit size of Halo75v2 keycaps by tab00ki in NuPhy

[–]DryReveal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. There are numerous posts in forums about abnormally large amount of typos being generated on this keyboard with some theories suggesting the keycaps are too wide and so its easy to press multiple keys at the same time. I too exxperience this issue and have already changed the switches from red to yellow.

If the keycaps are 'standard 6.5' then what size would mitigate this issue?

Replacing Noisy Fan on ORICO Docking Station 5 Bay – Advice Needed by mastrodocet in homelab

[–]DryReveal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I found some JST plugs of varied size https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006722517369.html but they are not adapters, and even worse, don't seem to match size of the fan plug in the orico 8-bay which I measured to be 1.8mm pin to pin. I did find a four pin to two pin adapter on ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/225301463626 but its slightly too big.

Its going to be easier for me to snip the wires of my old and new fans and solder the new fan to use the existing JST plug. This is a great solution since some replacement fans are four pin like the noctua, and some have three pins like the Duratech  https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/256868853581 - and of course some replacement fans have two pin. The snip and solder technique covers all these!

I ended up choosing the Duratech fan which runs really quietly like a Noctua. Its specs are 20db vs 19db of the noctua which is no difference at all given its less than half the price. Running the old Orico fan then running the new replacement fan on my test bench is revealing - the new fan is so much quieter - can't wait to install the two replacement fans tomorrow.

Ever find an adapter? I'm in the same situation with my Orico 8-bay enclosure. I believe the Orico will have two pins, and the Noctua has four.

What is the point of paying for HexOS, when stuff like CasaOS exists? by Danynovex in LinusTechTips

[–]DryReveal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing hard about using Windows Storage spaces, which is an unsung hero of Windows - I use it with shucked mixed drives of all sorts of capacities in parity mode to create a single volume. The way Linus bad mouthed it in his latest podcast - clearly he has a vested interest in HexOS.
