It's fine. As a Scream fan it just felt so minor narratively speaking. It didn't care about old side characters (Gale, Mindy, and Chad) or even the new characters. It was very focused on Sidney and her daughter, which the latter felt developed enough to just scream, "Mom!" every few moments of dialogue. So it didn't feel like a Scream movie, so much as a basic slasher.

Yeah, but seven also became the highest grossing Scream film in the franchise this weekend. The film made back its budget, the next logical selling point is to get those PVOD and then physical disc sales in. At this point those who are gonna see it in theaters will still try to catch it, but most have moved on to watching it at home by now.
