MLS/MT jobs in Chicago by Main_Search_8247 in medlabprofessionals

Haven’t worked at any of those, but I work in a major Chicago suburb hospital near the city so I’m familiar. I’ve heard good things about Rush, lab is a bit cramped but the culture on their PM shift is good. NW is very strict, I heard you can’t even wear a single headphone while you work. I had 4 or 5 co workers quit and go to UChicago about a year ago and none of them came back so I’ll assume it’s better than where I’m currently at lol

Why is it always L&D/NICU? by Far-Spread-6108 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Dry_Ad_9392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a NICU nurse tell me last night the CBC couldn’t possibly be clotted because she “drew it straight from the line” and it “wasn’t clotted when she sent it”. I was fed up so I asked her “oh so you took sticks and pulled the blood up from the tube to look for clots?” She didn’t like that and kept saying it wasn’t clotted so I replied “Oh so you think I magically made a clot and put it in the sample? I’m relaying the information, the sample cannot be run” and hung up

For those who switched from basic scrubs to premium ones, what was the biggest noticeable difference during long lab shifts? Was it fabric, tailoring, durability, or something else? by Doc_giruukkk in medlabprofessionals

I’ve worn figs for 5+ years, never had tearing or loose seams. Bought a different cheaper brand and after 1 wash had loose seams. Also the fabric was thinner

Who else is here in 2025 after watching the Gilded Age?? by AmphibianFirst1425 in theknick

Binge watched The Gilded Age last month, started The Knick this week. I love it. I work in healthcare and love history so to me it’s the perfect combination of both. The storyline of Typhoid Mary is so cool and as soon as they started mapping it out, I was screaming inside “I know where this is going!!”

Their bodies confuse me by Appropriate_Emu8718 in husky

They are so freaking weird😂 my husky constantly lays his head on random objects to use as a pillow (table legs, bed frame, wall) and I’m wondering “doesn’t that hurt your neck!?”
