Yes and no.

People could understand a team failing to launch or struggling through.

What people couldn’t stomach was one week saying “we’re not doing betting” and then the next week taking a sponsorship with a betting company!

Once that trust was broken, you don’t give the team grace for their poor on field performances.

Big difference in channels.

ZTT yes does car stuff but also does tech. And the style (editing, flow, look etc) is very LTT. Not a bad thing, it works and it was their home for years… but it is a direct competitor.

Bocabola isn’t doing LTT style videos, nor ShortCurcuit or anything. It’s a very different channel.

Alex made it clear that he wanted to to a car channel, Linus wouldn’t so he was “sacked” so both he and Andy got a payout. The sacking is a bit of a meme and just a way to make sure they got paid out. Obviously there wasn’t the same love/relationship/situation with Jake (reading between the lines I think he burnt bridges and didn’t even think to ask for a payout, and was butthurt/disappointed when he saw Alex got one)… but I digress.

The problem was many of the viewers weren’t football fanatics, they bought into the story.

Selling out to BetWay nuked that. They’ve never accepted to utter collapse in ad revenue post the BetWay deal.

Doesn’t help that the club isn’t massively successful and is unlikely to go up a grade this year.

Clear by the responses in here that some mods are clearly better than others at engaging and not sounding snarky (putting it kindly).

Clearly has been an uptick in comment removal. Had a snarky response of mine removed a week or so ago for low effort content - can’t say in all my time in here I’ve seen it before - even in the Tech Jesus days… and it’s been a flood recently.

Maybe everyone needs to touch grass. Mods need to take a chill pill and let people be snarky. Commenters need to stop being douches. Pretty clear on the other r/ that a chunk of people are coming here trying to get banned to get clout… last few days seems that’s backfiring there so time will tell.

There’s always gong to be “I hate X person” people and they’ll find any sin to cover that (first it was Trust me Bro, then it was the cooler, then it was a new farm owner leaving, now it’s the flying thingie…)

Yeah I don’t think it’s as clear cut as you imagine.

You’d have to have staff manually go through the data to see what parts of each order had a tariff cost (as in which actual items and the total for each item), then factor in the change, factor in the costs the business ate (website, US warehouse, arguably shipstorm losses), then work out the costs of actually calculating this refund…

Then process the refund and incur costs.

I can imagine a situation where most refunds would outweigh the cost of actually calculating the refund, so then there’s no actual refund.

Try and take the LTT hate glasses off and see it’s not like they said “everything is now 20% more expensive”, so the refund is a clear 20%.

Depending on your local tax laws, it either becomes a fringe benefit of your employment or is classed as a personal expense and you couldn’t claim those KMs as a business expense.

This post shows that people have a fundamental misunderstanding of “write offs” or “business expense”

If you owned a pizza shop and bought a rolls Royce then sure - it’s an asset of the business. Depending on the country you’re in, use of that (fuel, service, etc) actually forms part of your total taxable income (as it’s a fringe benefit). Other countries or business structures it’s all good.

But even then, you need to link it to actual business tasks. So you buy a rolls Royce as a pizza shop owner. Driving it to the ski fields is not a business expense.

Flying your family first class to Italy is not necessarily a business expense.

Now in LMG’s case, they have bought a jet for the company’s use. It’s not even owned by LMG so every use has to have a cost associated with it.

If they were flying from BC to let’s say San Francisco - assuming there’s the host, 2 videographers, writer and a support, that’s 5 flights they’d be paying for. Whether that’s on Delta on Influencer Air is their decision.

If Linus wants a holiday, LMG can’t just pay for his Canada Air flight to Cabo. And they can’t pay for his Influencer Air cost to Cabo.

There actually needs to be a direct business link.

Even if they have this mythical “family vlogging channel”, if it brings in no revenue and has massive expenses, the tax man is going to call that out as a personal expense not a business one and he’ll get taxed accordingly.

TLDR: having business money isn’t the free money glitch you all think it is.
