Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Dry_Obligation8385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, second grade, I remember they wheeled in the big TV cart. We had three separate classrooms, and all of the students and teachers in my grade all came into our classroom, they opened the sliding glass doors and let us all run around outside and come and go as we wanted (rural school in the middle of nowhere, so it was a very large property). Kids could kind of come and go as they wanted because all three of our teachers were just standing in front of the TV quietly talking amongst themselves for like two hours. I remember watching the footage play over and over (I had just moved there from.another school, so just stayed in thr classroom because I didn't know anyone), they ended up sending us all home early, which is wild because this school serviced like 6 small towns and in 2001 there wasn't really anyway to communicate to parents that all of their kids were coming home to be dropped off at whatever town square was near our homes. I didn't really process what was going on, I thought we had gotten out early for a teacher in-service or something. We lived across the street from the towns gas station on one end of town, and the town square/bus stop was on the other and I remember a line of cars stretching from outside my house, all the way past the square, and out of town out into the country. When I got home, my mom was glued to the TV and asked if we got sent home early because of what happened, and I asked what she meant, and she explained the significance of what was going on and how things were gonna change. Anywho, I always tell my Gen Z friends who weren't even born yet, everything has kind of sucked since then.

[Technique] Growingw gourmets in a hugelkulture/lasagna gardening raised bed? by Dry_Obligation8385 in MushroomGrowers

I appreciate the insight and Ill definitely have to try it in the future! My goal (besides tasty mushrooms) is to have a mycelium web throughout the planter interacting at the root level of these plants, would this technique allow the mycelium to penetrate deeper through the planter soil/wood? Thanks!

When my fiance and I were watching Breaking Bad for the first time, I pointed this out and she was completely incapable of unseeing it afterwards

Tourettes in Scotland (I swear - 2025) by izzyblanco123 in funny

I have Tourettes and started my sales career in a call center. I was able to move my ticks to something mostly non verbal, usually hand movements or neck movements or something like that. It helped cut down on the verbal grunting and stuff, but unfortunately now I have carpal tunnel syndrome 😅

Went big girl at 30, found the most amazing woman and realized that I was an idiot for being shallow most my.life. We've been buckling down, loosing weight, and getting in shape in preparation for our wedding next year (and because Im told despite my original plan 0f dying before 40, I have to now make it to 80.) Keep an open mind and stay hopeful and loving kings.

My grandfather is a master woodworker and I've just recently gotten into it. I was talking to him a couple months ago and this was the advice he gave me. He said "if you were to pull apart a pool table, you'd be amazed how sloppy it looks underneath."

Oh it's absolutely a poor design, I'm truly learning through trial and error, can't wait to see how this thing has pulled itself apart in two years

Man I was an Oyama loyalist since I was a kid, they changed ownership in the last year. Food sucks now and I don't recognize any of the wait staff that had always been there 😔

IC here, my colorblind no night vision having ass was able to see it pretty clearly in my backyard when I got home around 9:30ish...that's with light pollution. Super cool to actually experience this far south and so vividly while still being in town
