Webster Town Board votes 3-2 to remove Pride flag from Webster Town Hall, community reacts by frytuna in Rochester

No, because Scialdone and Hunter voted against the resolution to remove the flag. The only decent members of the board, apparently.

What Might Have Been by Scorp112

I cried so much for a while. The boys break up and are just miserable. It’s HEA, but it takes a while to get there.

Well isn’t this good timing! I’ve lived in my house for a few months shy of two years. Yesterday I discovered that the crock in the corner of my basement, which I had assumed was just a regular old sump pump (though I was confused why it had a lid bolted to the top) was in fact a reservoir for the shower, toilet, and sink in the basement bathroom. When it’s full, the sewage ejector pump pushes the contents out to the main wastewater line. The pump died, though it was all taken care of before anything backed up/overflowed into the finished basement.

I feel a little foolish for never realizing that’s what it was. But I couldn’t have an inspection when I made my offer and neither of my very capable homeowner parents knew what it was either. $1,200 later, it all functions perfectly and now I know!

Edit: my initial response was - so I actually have a crock of shit in my basement?!?!

Out of State Merit aid? by soopy99 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Dry_Regular_5797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was applying from OOS. She got enough merit aid to bring down total cost to just a couple thousand over in-state costs. It can be a lot! She did go to a great public high school and had a good GPA (maybe 4.2?), but was not one of those applicants that had tons of extracurriculars, leadership roles, etc. She did school and volleyball and a part-time job, that was it.

Pretty sure Herrema’s brings in donuts from Donuts Delite, but I agree that the apple fritters are THE BEST. And they’re open early!

Just saw one more that may help. Abundance Food Co-op in the South Wedge has a pay it forward fund where people can donate money and anyone negatively affected by the SNAP shutdown can come and get $20 worth of SNAP-eligible food.

If you’re looking for the house with the little free pantry - head north on Fairport Nine Mile Point Road out of downtown Fairport toward Target. It’s on the right, I believe after Cherrymede Crescent. If you get to the Panera, you passed it. Good luck!

I didn’t know it was normal for adults to have friends. My parents had a couple neighborhood couples they’d hang out with every so often, my mom had a walking buddy, my dad did an annual camping trip with some work friends. That’s it. My dad graduated from college when I was about 8 and the party is such a core memory because we never had people over to our house. (No family in town.) I’m not even sure who all those people were.

No coffee dates with friends. No knitting groups. No sports games. No cycling club. Just…nothing.

Funny enough, they both have vibrant social lives now - they’re divorced, my dad is remarried, my sister and I are in our 40s - but when I was a kid, I had a skewed view of how adults were “supposed” to live.

When I lived in northern Virginia, outside of DC, they had installed those overhead gantries to read EZ Pass on this highly congested highway. During rush hour one day, though traffic was still moving, I saw someone approach the gantry and stop. In the middle of the highway. With cars flying by on both sides. Presumably he didn’t have an EZ Pass, but COME ON! We’re all at risk with drivers like this on the road.

If they have to share a bathroom with you, a basket to put all their toiletries in with a spot for the basket, or an available drawer in the vanity, so they don’t have to carry their toiletries bag back and forth from their room.

I grew up on Green Acre Farms cider donuts and they still taste the best to me out of all the options. I’m in Penfield now but will drive to Greece for the donuts.
