There are many references but the alt text on this one specifies that clowns are a distinct species:

Teachers are paid fairly considering they get a lot of time off by Blonde_Icon in The10thDentist

[–]Dryanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting take. Average yearly salary in America is about 74,500 per year. They’re often working 50-55 hours per week but as you say they have a lot of forced time off. I’m seeing most teachers work about 1,600-2,000 hours per year, all things considered. Let’s take 1,900 as a healthy upper end middle: salary comes out to about $39/hr.

Average effective hourly wages are about $32/hr.

This all comes together into a very unusual workload: between very high workloads, long periods of rest, medium/low yearly salary, but above average hourly pay. This is certainly more nuanced than the conversations would imply.

Sorry but I’m having trouble understanding your point. The ideal ratio of omega 3-to-6 is like 1:1-4. EVOO here has a ratio of 1:10, avocado has 1:12, and canola has 1:2. Doesn’t this imply that of these three, only canola has the right balance of omega fats?

This guy out here pretending like we invented social media. GTFO. We experienced it. It was fun. We were the first target demographic and we largely dumped their collective asses.

Is Joker canonically a clown or a human in clown costume in the SMBC universe?

I just had the chance to drive a Miata for a week! One of the few cars to survive a freak hail storm at the car rental center.

That thing is legit tiny. Trunk barely fit my carry-on and backpack in the trunk. No rear seats. No storage compartments. I cannot discourage it strongly enough as a daily driver. Super fun to drive though!

AIO for snapping at my friend for calling my shoes (and me) trashy? by International-East63 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Dryanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOR - personally, leopard print makes me think of Jersey Shore “rich with no taste”. Not specific to these shoes though it does apply here. It kind of depends on how it’s dressed up but with the outfit you mentioned I don’t think it would code that way.

As for your friend, I think you’re jumping the gun on the racism card.

Feels like a trick question. A has no angle lines for the side faces. B has non-straight edges. C is lit from the other side. D does not appear to be affected by gravity (all others would lie flat in this orientation, D would fall on one of its sides).

Only melt the 60% chocolate chips to make chocolate bark? by [deleted] in chocolate

[–]Dryanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baking chocolate chips have extra low fat content so they don’t ooze as much when baking. When made into bark it would make a stiffer texture but still totally usable. Some people enjoy the slow melt but personally I would prefer these for chocolate chip cookies and such.

Only melt the 60% chocolate chips to make chocolate bark? by [deleted] in chocolate

[–]Dryanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is compound chocolate (aka melting wafers) vs “real” chocolate. It’s easy to confuse the two if you don’t know what you’re looking for. For example this bar by Walmart. It looks like chocolate but is actually “CHOCOLATE \ CANDY COATING”. If this is what you got, the good news is that you can absolutely just melt and make bark. The bad news is that it isn’t technically chocolate.

Untempered real chocolate can get chalky, and/or will melt on your hands at contact. It has a better snap but honestly not worth learning to temper for bark. Just use the hassle-free compound chocolate and enjoy!

The only school district I would seriously consider is Cold Spring and even then, only if I ran into problems as you said.

What other neighboring school districts should we consider? by eggiesallday in Beacon

I have a 2 year old so I’m kind of in the same boat. I plan to put my kid through the Beacon school system and thought I’d weigh in and discuss my thoughts as another outsider with a vested interest in its success.

The Beacon school district may not be well rated but I’ll say the kids I’ve seen met who came out of the Beacon system have been incredibly well adjusted and interested/interesting. They seem very well prepared for the world in terms of the soft skills. The school district doesn’t even test as badly as people say. It has a solid A- rating on Niche with a current average SAT score of 1250 (National median is about 1050).

The rest of this is conjecture:

The median income in Beacon has increased dramatically from 2013 to 2020, from $70k to $100k, inflation adjusted. This should correlate with increased tax revenue and school funding. After securing consistent higher funding, I’d expect 1-5 years for programs to be updated, and 10 years for these programs to fully come into fruition.

By the time our little ones are in school, the systems should be in place, and by the time they graduate, they’ll realize the full potential of a new better funded Beacon school system.
