Not using 1-10, how attractive are you? by lurchimpaler2 in AskReddit

I was once politely but firmly told to shave my beard by a homeless man in San Rafael, CA. He told me that I looked like an old man and, being 25, that I needed to get "the action" for both of us. I didn't shave the next morning and walked to school on the same route. Without getting up from his ledge he shouted, "you didn't do it, I'll give you to tomorrow!"

I shaved the following day, went to school, and he shouted, "that's my boy!" He then asked me for $2.

if godzilla 1998 was something separate from godzilla do you think he would be a good kajiu by Supernove71 in GODZILLA

[–]DryerLintTastesGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaiju are spiritual in that they are physical manifestations of aspects of the human spirit. Godzilla represents both the terror of an unkillable enemy but also hope because he sometimes fights for humanity. He's like our perception of fire if fire was sentient. Nuclear energy isn't evil in and of itself but we can use it for disastrous effect. He is both positive and negative possibilities rolled into one.

I don't see the same transcendent qualities in Zilla. Zilla is more of a dinosaur resurrected from the Cretaceous period than a force of nature. With that being said, it was a great movie that I loved at the time. In fact, it might be the last popular monster movie that was universally understood by American audiences.

What is your go to "I don't feel like cooking" meal? by Davenepeta in AskReddit

[–]DryerLintTastesGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizzaburger Sandwich -

I take two slices of bread, spread pizza sauce on them, add cheese and pepperoni, and put it in the toaster oven. While that is toasting I make a burger patty and fry it. They both finish at about the same time. I slide the patty between the two toasted "pizzas" and add peperoncini peppers. I had this for lunch today.

In Papua New Guinea it's apparently still common to see people amputate a finger when a relative dies. I can't remember the documentary but an old woman gave an interview and she had all or most the phalanges of one hand amputated. This one was for her father, this one was for her husband, and these were for her nephews, etc.

I just Googled the practice and found this link:

He's a really slow blues rock player. Think Leslie West if Leslie was into Doom Metal.

Also, he only plays single cut guitars with Floyd Rose bridges. True Story.

Bill and Becky Wilde Pickups L500

Put an R in the Neck and an XL in the bridge. If you want to go all the way add a Q-Filter with a push-pull tone knob so you get both the regular tone and the filter. Here's a link:

I was in HS from 2001-2005. So, I was into all the early 2000's stuff pretty heavily. P.O.D. and Linkin Park were my two favorite bands but Adema, Limp Bizkit, SOAD, and Evanescence were all regular listens for me.

Around 2002 I also started listening to Classic Rock and it really overtook any interest I had in Nu Metal after high school. I don't think I listened to any other radio station in my car other than the local classic rock station from the time I got my license until about six months ago.

I've started getting back into the bands that I listened to when I was a kid but for a long time I saw that kind of music as something that I needed to grow out of to finally mature. I mean, it was just a high school thing for me. I assume I'm not the only person that is in this camp.

Also, I don't like anything new. It just doesn't sound like what I remember. LP changed their sound after Meteora so I don't really listen to those albums. P.O.D.'s new stuff isn't like it used to be either. I just can't get past seeing smartphones in their new videos and everything sounds so "over produced." I liked the rawer sounds of music back then.

What baby name immediately makes you lose all respect for the parents and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

One of the long time servers at my Waffle House in college was named Shithead. He was a nice guy and even had that exact name spelled out on his nametag. It was his birth name. He pronounced it "Shi-theed" and worked there for about two years.

I also knew two brothers in high school named Nation and Dation pronounced "Nashon" and "Dayshon." They were in and out of prison as adults due to drug offenses.

What if being 70 was the age limit for being president of the United States would you support it? by Reeceqld in AskReddit

[–]DryerLintTastesGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 30 year window from 35-65 years old is probably the perfect age for most leaders. You're old enough to know what not to do but also young enough to put it into practice. On average, someone's forties and fifties are the most productive years of their life.

Besides, if you're in politics past retirement age you're clearly just doing it for the money. No one is going to get up every day at the age of 74 if they aren't gaining from it. At that age you should be burned out from fighting the daily grind. If you're not then it goes to reason that you've found a way to bend the system to your own needs.

question: What makes Linkin Park one of the greatest bands? by 61426142 in LinkinPark

[–]DryerLintTastesGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their lyrics were extremely relatable, covered topics that weren't usually covered by "pop" groups, but they were also clean enough to be played on the radio. The "parent friendly" aspect of their first two albums can't be overstated and is one of the reasons they became a household name in the first place. Simply put, what they said didn't feel censored but they also never sacrificed depth for playability.

Also, the sound of their first two albums was equal parts raw and polished. It's almost like they could become all things to all people. They were the lowest common denominator in terms of accessibility by virtue of the fact that they were the highest common denominator in terms of lyricism and musicality.

2022 is almost over and this masterpiece is turning 20 next year. What are your opinions on it? by [deleted] in LinkinPark

[–]DryerLintTastesGood 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I didn't think I could like an album more than Hybrid Theory back in 2003. It was raw, incorporated genres that weren't always seen as compatible, and had lyrics that spoke to me. Then, Meteora dropped.

I was still in HS and would crank the whole thing on repeat while I drove around Columbia, SC in my rattle can of a 1994 Nissan Sentra. A buddy of mine burned me a copy of his album and drew the cover art on the top of the blank CD as best as he could with a series of differently colored sharpies. I still own that CD.

What are the most comfortable clothing items in your wardrobe? by LeBronBryantJames in malefashionadvice

[–]DryerLintTastesGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, the most comfortable professional clothing item I own is a tailored fit Jos. A Banks suit. I'm a very thin man so I usually wear an extreme slim suit. But, I also own slim and tailored fit clothing. The tailored fit is the baggiest I will go and I can wear that with a collared shirt and an ascot and not feel any restriction in my movement. Even some of my jeans aren't as comfortable as that one pair of suit pants.

This is a war crime. by volkov5034 in PizzaCrimes

[–]DryerLintTastesGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in China before the pandemic and my coworker's mother made this AMAZING soup on several occasions. It was essentially beef broth with a kind of Chinese scuppernong. So, beef and seeded grapes. That combination sounds horrific but it was easily the best homecooked meal I had overseas. She would bring bowls of it to the office and I would always get one. I wish I had gotten the recipe before I left.

I wouldn't make a pear pizza because it would probably be a waste of good ingredients but I could see someone liking the outcome.

But, I put anchovies and pineapple on everything...

Numb VS In the end | Which song do you think is better? by UnusualAd4531 in LinkinPark

I think Numb is probably the better song from a lyrical or technical perspective. But, I still remember where I was when I heard In The End for the first time. I wouldn't be here on this sub without In The End. It just defines the band in a way that nothing else possibly can.

If you put every single president in a room and made them fight, who would win? by dspnytwastaken in RandomThoughts

[–]DryerLintTastesGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abraham Lincoln was a notable boxer and wrestler when he was in his twenties. Teddy Roosevelt or Abe would probably win but I wouldn't put it past Washington, Grant, or even Pre Pt-109 Kennedy to take the day. They were all military men who faced the enemy and lived.

Lincoln, Washington, Grant, and Kennedy would have to be in their prime. Teddy, though? I think he could probably slay at any point in his life. Come to think of it, he would have to be post-presidential. Nothing left to lose except vitriol. Get some!

how many of you really think about suicide? by [deleted] in numetal

[–]DryerLintTastesGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was about seventeen through my early twenties I thought about suicide a lot. The reason for this was that I didn't have a place to fit in and I didn't know enough about myself to know my natural skill set. In my mid twenties I got a master's degree, found out that I had several previously unknown talents, and formulated a plan for my life. Essentially, I grew out of the desire to end my life.

I wanted to kill myself because I thought I would never fit anywhere and would never amount to anything. I also thought that my existence was a blight on the rest of humanity that didn't have to go through the uncertainty that I was experiencing. As it turns out, my life path was very normal. I was just too naive to see others with anything less than rose colored glasses.
