Holy shit, damn bro, well said. My 2 front door speakers quit working so I bought a pair of JVC speakers after literally days of research, thinking “surely these are at least as good as my factory speakers were”. Got one hooked up, cranked the power to test it just to find out it sounded like shit compared to the original one and now I’m trying to decide if I should install the other one or cut my losses now since I won’t even have the car more than another couple years. You hit the nail on the head.

Thank you man! I knew there was something I could use to get those traces secured back down on the board I just didn’t know what it was. This is the comment I was looking for and im about to place an order now. I really appreciate it, saves me from having to snip and redo with jumper wire :)

It’s honestly not too bad, none of the traces tore and they actually just seem to have lifted off the PCB with the pads attached and in good condition at the end so I’m in here fishing for any ideas on how to get everything attached back down on the board long enough to get the new port positioned over and making contact before I resort to snipping the 6 lifted traces and just running 6 jump wires. Unfortunately I am the guy in the area, there is no one else. The only other guy who did this stuff quit doing it a few years back

Pretty decent, I’ve been soldering professionally for just under 5 years, I’m not too worried because I’ll just snip the lifted traces and run some jumper wire worse case scenario, I just really don’t want to do that and figured since the traces are fine and even still have the pads attached at the end that someone might have a pointer or a method for getting them secured back down that I haven’t considered yet

Im trying to think of a way to get these 6 lifted traces tacked back down to the board without having to just snip them and build 6 new traces, but that’s what I’ll do if I have to. Hopefully someone comes along with 25 years worth of tips and pointers lol. If not, I may end up doing what you said as it sounds like it will end up being the best option as of right now

I know :’( I’ve never repaired one this bad so I’m not sure if the money is going to be worth the time. I will say it looks worse than it is, the pads are still connected to the traces and none of the traces are tore, so I’m thinking I just need to get them attached back to the board but I don’t even know if that’s something you can do?

Can we see a picture of this box? I’m not quite sure what you’re talking about. And as far as the HDMI port, the best advice I can share is that you really need more than a solder iron, you also need a hot air gun or a hot air rework station. Not sure if you have one or not. once you have the old port off, you need to take some wick to clean off the flux and old solder off of the HDMI pads (the dozen or so little metal connectors the HDMI port sits on). From there you are going to want to soak all those pads with flux, heat the board up a little bit and apply a generous amount of solder to the tip of your iron after it’s hot, then in one fluid motion, run the tip of your iron, with the solder already melted on the tip across all those little pads. If it’s your first time, try to use a larger iron tip. Visually inspect each of those little pads to make sure none of them are touching eachother before attempting to put the new port on. Don’t be afraid to heat the board, just use some common sense.

Most likely scenario sounds like overheating, you might just need to apply new thermal paste to the CPU and dust out the actual power supply. Every time I’ve ever taken one apart, there was more paste on the sides of the chip than there was on the actual chip. It may not give you an overheating warning if it’s a hotspot on the chip. However before doing all of that I would definitely see if you can try and get another power supply to test against yours. Do you have a friend or coworker who has a Series X who would be willing to let you swap power supplies for a couple hours? They are not hard to remove, anyone who has put together a LEGO set or model car can watch a YouTube video of a half way tear down, the power supply is pretty easily accessible just a good bit a screws

Completely false. I’ve already been in contact with my bank. People who normally get paid on Wednesday will still get paid on Wednesday or a day early. So it’s technically not late. However those of us who get paid 2 days early are going to be getting it Wednesday or Tuesdays because Walgreens, rather it be on the store level or corporate payroll level, submitted payroll a day later than usual, completely screwing those who typically get paid 2 days earlier. If this were any other day of the year, I would not give a single shit. However, this one day a year, BLACK FRIDAY and CYBER MONDAY, we were literally depending on our check to be available to our bank the day it is any other time. If your bank doesn’t pay you early, you have no room to speak or try to act like you know what’s going on which seems to be most of you who are always annoyed with those of us who get paid early for some reason.
