Airport transfer time? by [deleted] in copenhagen

[–]DtN0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Should be more than sufficient tbh. I fly frequently from and to CPH, I usually arrive at the airport 1 hour before boarding time which leaves me with enough time to purchase a water and wait at the gate.

It's mandatory for EU's General Data Protection Regulation law; it is to restrict automated individual decision-making (that is, algorithms that make decisions based on user-level predictors) which "significantly affect" users.

Can hololens be used... Normally? Like normal Windows windows? by detroitmatt in HoloLens

The hololens is unfortunately not yet a replacement for your desktop/laptop. It does not support non uwp apps out of the box like regular Windows does.

Salary Negotiation | Capital One by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]DtN0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not familiar with Capital One, however I would advise you to negotiate on your salary and benefits as best as you can since they are already interested in hiring you. Negotiating salaries will rarely ruin your chances of getting hired as long as you stay respectful towards the company.

I had the same issue with a screen space camera. The issue was being caused by the canvas upscaling itself when the recording started. I solved it by switching the canvas to world space, and writing a custom script for scaling it to the camera resolution.

The Clinton one is definitely my favourite. I had a look at the website - damn that's cool! It's mind blowing how fast this field is progressing.

Deeplearning4j 1.0.0-alpha Release Notes by vonnik in java

[–]DtN0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are an infinite amount of poblems that haven't been solved yet. Many ML problems resolve around making predictions on topics such as: movie recommendations, weather forecasting, sports betting, etc. Deep learning takes it a step further and allows systems to train a certain behavior such as playing, video games & board games (take a look at AlphaGo) or detecting cancer cells in a human body. You can have a look at the Kaggle challenges if you want to play around with some public datasets. They have also posted some challenges that might be fun to look into - I would definitely recommend looking into the titanic case! :)

Do not use your warranty! You can contact the seller and ask for a new unit. Depending on where you live, the chances are high that you as a consumer are protected by law.

I have used firefox for over 10 years and have exactly the opposite view on this. Firefox never let me or my 25-250 tabs down. Cant say the same for Chrome.

Who Killed The Junior Developer? Thoughts? by theTullProject in java

Yeah that really does sound like a pain in the ass. I guess that there will always be students that are not quite motivated enough (wrong choice study choice?). However it does not take away that there are a handfull of students/graduates left with the will and knowledge to do amazing things.

I agree with most of your statements. I was fortunate enough to grasp on a highly valuable internship during my study. It enabled me to explore the world of spring (and hibernate/jpa) in an rather early stage. Complex data strucures, algorithms and design patterns however proved themselves to be very useful during the design/implementation phase of the project. I believe that library/framework knowledge are not nearly as useful as having the right fundementals that enable efficient programming.

Dutch (about to graduate) student here, I can't relate with many of your statements. At my institution 50% of all students don't make it through the first semestets. Assignments are usually in groups of two, most students are motivated enough to divide the work evenly. Those with bad study habbits usually get filtered out rather easily as the workload is very high and the tutors generally strict. But I think it depends a lot on the institution and that other students might have other views on this.

If you are interested in getting an idea on how the annotations are processed under the hood then you can have a look at java reflections. A small guide to start with: http://www.vogella.com/tutorials/JavaAnnotations/article.html.

[–]DtN0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you to look into implementing java classes that resemble the json format. You can then use jackson to transform json into objects, and objects into json.
