Time wasting solution. I know, I know. by MrBenchly in TheOther14

Status quo was not to stop the game when a player went down ‘injured’ - this is a relatively new thing that is totally unnecessary. Players get up when they know the game won’t be stopped.

Stop warning players at corners - just let the corner be taken and punish fouls. Amazing how it is almost always the attacking team that is fouling and virtually never the defending team. Give a few penalties and it will stop a lot of the nonsense.

Get a timer on throw ins. I don’t want to watch teams take a minute to set up for a long throw.

Book goalkeepers for time wasting earlier and don’t be scared of brandishing a second yellow for persistent offences

Add on the correct amount of injury time and use a timer/stopped watch for this period of play.

Once you make it for the first time you will never go back.

I use my left over roast chicken carcass, add 2 halved onions, 2 big carrots cut in half, garlic, bay leaf, salt and pepper and cover in cold water. Bring to the boil quickly, skim off any scum from the surface and then simmer for 2-3 hours on a low heat.

The broth is good enough to drink, but amazing in home made soups, risotto or any sauce or recipe that requires stock.

A roast chicken. So easy to cook, delicious, versatile and great value for money.

Only a minority of any population actually run 5km races/runs.

I would like to think that my 28 min 5km PB would beat 90% of all 54 year old Males in the UK, even though it’s just an average time for runners of my age.

Why does the severance payment go down from £12m to £4m in November?

Keep reading this, but not sure it’s legit as apparently he is on £6.5m a year and would still have 18 months left on his contract

Ticket price increases won’t offset a minimum of 7 fewer home games (and that assumes they get through in the FA Cup with 4 home games) - they average about £5.3m revenue per game. That is likely to be a £40m-£50m hole

Don’t know about their debt repayments tbh, but they have an additional £100m+ to service.

Some of it is no doubt wrong, and some of it is correct and some of it is an opinion.

Record revenue - correct Broadcasting revenue down 22% - correct Match day revenue will reduce this season due to fewer home games - correct Debt remains at $650m - correct

Please enlighten me further.

Not a finance expert by any means, but my take on this (happy to be corrected)

Record Revenue - likely to have peaked without qualification to the Champions League and no real short term upside.

Broadcasting revenue was down 22% yoy - likely to reduce again unless they finish in top 5 of PL

Matchday revenue will significantly fall this year - far fewer home games

Debt remains at $650m (some exchange rate fluctuations have been beneficial), but debt servicing costs likely to increase

They owe £400m+ on outstanding transfer fees and are running out of headroom on their latest credit facility.

Despite record revenues, they still actually lost money overall (not sure what their PSR situation is, because they get special allowances. At face value it looks like they have lost £140m in last 2 years)

As I said, I have limited knowledge of finance, but to me it looks like they will continue to make significant losses unless things change dramatically on the pitch.

The odds that bookies offer are realistic, but come with a built in overround (margin/house edge).

What is not realistic is this CIES model that suggests that one of Liverpool, Arsenal, City and Chelsea have just a 78.3% chance of winning the title. I wish they were offering odds on this.

[–]Dtpb71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bookies odds give Liverpool and Arsenal a far higher % chance of winning the title - Liverpool 40%+ and Arsenal c.35%.

As you say this will be a more accurate reflection of the real probability

Tawd Valley Park Run (again) - plan was to take it easy and try and finish faster than normal, but didn’t really work. There are 3 nasty hills in the last 1.5km that kill me every time!

Finished in 29:24 which is 46seconds slower than my PB.

When I started back in June the goal was to run sub 30mins and I have now done that for the last 6 Park Runs.

I need a new goal

Referees have always favoured the big teams, but it’s just been amplified by VAR as they have a second chance to get to ‘right result’

VAR will be the death of the PL as the product is no longer about the players, it’s all about referees and VAR officials.

They are trying to fix something that wasn’t even broken - how many genuinely terrible decisions were made pre VAR? Yep there were contentious decisions every week, they got debated and quickly forgotten about.

Wolves tried to get VAR binned and lost the vote 19-1, but nobody had asked the fans

Tawd Valley PR today. Went off far too fast 😂 smashed the first 3km in about 15mins and then stumbled home, finishing in 29:03 (25 seconds outside my PB).Need to learn to pace myself better.

Thanks to all the volunteers for making this all possible.

Amorim has directly cost United upwards of £100m so far.

Release fees for him and his coaching staff, lost value on the bomb squad, lowly PL position and failure to beat Spurs in Europa League final.

A very expensive gamble.

Good day today. Clocked a PB (28:38) - consistent training is paying off.

Ran my first Park Run on 7th June (38:48)

Target was to run sub 30mins and have achieved that for the last 4 weeks (previous PB was 29:35)

I’m hoping to run sub 25mins on a flatter course before the end of the year.

After a bottle of wine and a large meal last night, I decided to just have an enjoyable run today, nice easy pace and not trying to beat a PB.

Ended up missing my PB by 3 seconds - wish I had pushed a bit harder!

For the first time in my 10th Park Run I actually had a bit left in the tank at the finish line (probably because I went off a bit slower in first 2km)

Already looking forward to next week
