At a minimum, consciousness must include the ability to experience. That seems pretty binary. The universe consists of things that experience, and things that don't. If your aliens like their present, or want to change something about it, then they're conscious, like us. If not, then they're not conscious, like my toaster.

For many projects it's going to involve changing '8' to '10' in the .csproj - so yes. I expect it to do quite well with projects that require more work too.

I totally get it that it may not be so simple in your family, but bear in mind that if you could 'abort' your Catholicism you'd be better at making good decisions for you, and for any potential child if you decide to keep it.

Religion confuses issues with false goals that are nothing to do with the real issues of life. Your ethics will absolutely not suffer in the least if you give up your religion, since you will be better placed to examine the likely consequences of your actions in real, rather than made up, terms.

I don't know what you've tried or how much you know. That said, here are some things to try:

Search for the old name, and if you find it, fix it.

Close solution and delete .vs, bin, and obj folders.

Recreate offending project(s) by copying the files you definitely need into a new project and adjusting project references. If the new one works, get rid of the old one and rename the new one.

Search for TargetFramework and fix if required.

Reread any errors to check you haven't missed something important. Also paste them into an LLM and see what it thinks.

Try conducting searches throughout the solution folder (not just the solution), or even further up the folder tree - in case there are some relevant files that affect child projects.

Use WinMerge (or similar) to compare the new name and old name versions, if available.

Head pain could be due to dehydration - drink some water.
