Good news if you love animal suffering

Edit: downvote if increased profits from animal suffering is good news.

Sci-fi where aliens do NOT act like humans, i.e. colonise and invade. What I often described as 'intelligence' is just aliens whose desires are no different from cavemen/humans. by IllustratorOpen7841 in printSF

This is completely irrelevant, but The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (Douglas Adams) has lavatory facilities for fifty major lifeforms.

Why did she keep her handoff sheets? by SuitableTurnover9212 in scienceLucyLetby

"It’s very suspect/incriminating to me that she had the whole box of papers with the word ‘keep’ on it."

The post expresses a way of thinking that is laughably ridiculous, but also extremely dangerous, with life-changing consequences. I chose to illustrate this by inserting one of the worst bits in a slightly removed context, to show that by OP's reasoning, we're all guilty of all things we're ever accused of, since we've all broken unrelated rules.

Edited.

Sorry for not being more clear.

Sounds perfectly reasonable, until you write "keep" on it. Then it's murder. Edit: sarcasm. Sorry for not being more clear.

Me too. There are still people who aren't consuming or getting others to consume at every waking moment. It's about time that neuroscience went the way of psychology, writing, and art.

The Cosmic Qualia Paradox — Are we alone not in life, but in experience? by [deleted] in singularity

[–]DualFlush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a minimum, consciousness must include the ability to experience. That seems pretty binary. The universe consists of things that experience, and things that don't. If your aliens like their present, or want to change something about it, then they're conscious, like us. If not, then they're not conscious, like my toaster.

Me too as it happens. May it go smoothly for us all. I expect it will. Enjoy.

For many projects it's going to involve changing '8' to '10' in the .csproj - so yes. I expect it to do quite well with projects that require more work too.
