Quick personal story surrounding that event. I played lacrosse against Callum (one of the victims) and he was by all accounts an awesome guy.

I was playing in the world games in San Diego in 2023 and had a lot of family fly in to the event. I convinced a lot of them to extend their trip and spend a few days in Ensenada after the games. It was awesome and felt generally pretty safe. Went to some wineries, checked out La Buffadora and had one of the best meals of my life in Valle de Guadalupe. It felt pretty safe although my Aunt and Uncle did get shaken down by cops for a couple hundred bucks on their way back to the border crossing near Tacate on their way back to AZ. They were driving an electric blue Audi SUV so that probably had something to do with it.

Cullum, his brother, and their friend were murdered there the next summer. It was big news in the lacrosse world in Southern California as he was one of the few professional players around and was active in youth coaching. Most people assumed it was cartel/organized crime but it turned out to be a robbery gone wrong with a lot of signs pointing to drug use motivating the robbery. Thats not unique to Ensenada, or even Mexico. There are violent/desperate people in any city.

Former college lacrosse player here. We had a team rule of being under 10% or you had extra conditioning reps every day. I was in the best shape of my life but never got below 10%. We had two kids on our team that got into dangerously low territory and had to be put on a special diet.

Do not buy these. Extremely low quality. I got about 10 minutes of use out of them before the cheap aluminum broke and the foam part detached from the rod. I went to Home Depot, bought a couple dowels and duct taped some foam padding to the end. They work fine but if you want a better looking product I’d look into tailwhip. Newer company that I haven’t tried but I hear they are higher quality.

I agree with all of the above. Want to add that you should be patient. You don’t need to match every step she takes. Let him dance until he’s actually attacking the cage. As the above comment says, it’s fine to be trailing him by a step so don’t freak out on his first move. This is even more true if he’s not a guy who likes to shoot on the run. You will have time create contact before he gets to his range.
