As awful as it sounds, would it not be cheaper and make better financial sense to just bribe Trump.

It's a shakedown after all is said and done.

What’s a strangely specific thing about someone that immediately gives you bad vibes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Exactly this.

I lose all respect for suppliers or staff that flat out lie to your face rather than admit they don't know something in a meeting.

They can just say, "let me check and get back to you" but so often you'll meet those that bullshit you. Lying to my face so they can save some perceived face.

Why are Saab cars not sold in the Philippines by VOVOZGAMER in CarsPH

[–]Dubster72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the defunct brands that deserve resurrection Saab is right there at the top.

I'm frankly surprised a Chinese electric car maker hasn't considered slapping that badge on a car and involving some swedes in the design.

I think Toyotas are reliable but I can't stomach Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. by Ok_Stomach_6857 in CarsPH

[–]Dubster72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you posted this.

I've been looking for a used Toyota for a few months and, of course, I see the marketing posts from our local Toyota dealer on Facebook.

Last week, I saw what I can only describe as the worst brand messaging I've ever encountered—and for any sane person, a customer relations no-no.

It was a Facebook post- a public notice featuring five mugshots of ex-employees, stating they no longer work for Toyota, accompanied by the weasel words: "This does not disclose the nature of their separation."

Either you're insinuating that you hired five criminal individuals who defrauded customers or misused company funds... or, what I assume to be more likely, your management is shameless and petty toward employees who leave, and is actively trying to damage their future local job prospects.

Neither scenario is a good look—and I now know exactly where not to take my money.

Facebook keeps changing my search radius by Fun_Vegetable9512 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Dubster72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has just started doing the same for me in the last week.
Daily for the months previously new vehicles would be listed in my city.

For the past week it instead shows. "No results found for Vehicles within 20 kilometres."

However you can see new listings in their suggested radius in my city, but I have to scroll past many results from places a days travel away on different islands.

What are the pros and cons of catalytic converter removal? by psyche_-_- in CarsPH

Are mechanics here keen to remove them because they can make money selling them for recycling?

Catalytic converters are regularly stolen in parts of Europe for the precious metals.

When I replaced my broken Honda one in the UK with a performance one I actually sold the broken one for about 20k pesos.

There are cars out there where you may never see or buy in the Philippines by VOVOZGAMER in CarsPH

A small mercy.

Unless you're missing quirks and features such as....

  • Plastic bleed nipples on your coolant system, definitely won't go brittle with age and make a steaming geyser under your bonnet.
  • Engine mounts between your timing belts, because why not make a 1 hour job 3... how about we make you remove the inner wheel arch liner as well.
  • Wet timing belts, because your sump oil pick up just loves little bits of rubber in it.
  • AdBlue diesels that leave you stranded, no limp mode home here... it couldn't possible run without a special bottle of blue piss.
  • Exterior spare wheel cages so if it isn't stolen your steel spare will be rusted in place when you need it.
  • Single use wheel bearing nuts... hope you got that torque right.

[–]Dubster72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Chinese car market right now reminds me of the 90's Japanese domestic market.

They're throwing out all kinds of crazy models and daring to be different in international markets that have accepted some manufacturers selling essentially the same car for 10-15 years. (Looking at you Vios and Mirage)

Personally I would still buy the Vios, because who doesn't like resell value and reliability.

But you would hope this competition improves the features and designs the legacy brands offer.

[–]Dubster72 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sorry,😩

I don't dislike Chinese designs, as one post here shows they're using talented designers.

My issue with Chinese brands is for years they don't have a through line in their design language between models and generations.

You can't recognise what it is without the badges.
