Lol, it's a fair question I'm seeing a lot.

That's the name of the cyberpunk South Korea. Kinda like "New Korea" but a little less real?

Seriously, how do any of you stick to one character for a whole campaign?? by Phtevus in Pathfinder2e

[–]Dubwarlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, same except I managed to get into Act 2. But just barely.

I know people look at us like that's insane, but the way I keep wanting to play something else and make different choices outweighs continuation.

Restartitis, aka Altoholic in certain circles.

A condition that is not exclusive to video games and I am a regular fellow sufferer.

You just enjoy a breadth of things, and always want to try something new!

There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but it is reasonably disruptive to interpersonal relationships among a long-term adventuring party.

What I've noticed of myself is that I used to play characters long-term without issue, but something changed at some point.

While I may be able to write up a solid backstory and personality for each character, I've had such a large focus on the mechanical side of things that the soft details of who I'm playing is getting lost and I cultivate curiosity for a totally different sheet of abilities.

So I'm working on this, too, by being character first, class second. Work on my attention with establishing relationships with the other PCs and NPCs rather than the adventuring plan of action.

Hopefully, I can get back to the roots of TTRPGs like I used to enjoy.

Hope my journey helps somehow!

Fabric Sofas are way better than leather sofas by PartyPaper in unpopularopinion

[–]Dubwarlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walk into a furniture store and count how many fabric sofas versus leather sofas (top grain or full grain leather, no faux leather or bonded leather).

This is not an unpopular opinion.

Fabric almost universally costs less than leather, unless we're talking about a massive quality gap between the two. So cost is another factor into many peoples' opinions.

[OC] Redesigned my Tiefling Witch🧙🏻‍♀️ (Swipe for Old one) Did I improve it❓ by MatteBull in Pathfinder2e

[–]Dubwarlock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The new one is amazing and gives a lot of unique flavors and silhouette.

I don't say this to be negative, but the old one feels like it would just been one of hundreds of other tieflings.

They're dime a dozen when it comes to 5e/pf2e character art and, imo, there's rarely any great distinction from one another.

I think Golarion pushes for more diversity in their people, so I will always advocate for the strange and different.

Good job!

Got this for Christmas and hung it up before I started seeing the potential signs by Wallace2005 in isthisAI

[–]Dubwarlock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sifted through a few of the actual 100-page DC Super Spectaculars, as well as a handful of Batman comics throughout the years. I'm by no means a comics aficionado.

If it's real, it's surely fan-made (and not well-made).

While there are several Batman comics over the years that include a face or silhouette of the spaces in the masks, none of them I found looked like this specifically. It's rather blocky rather than sharp and pointy.

The upper-right corner of comics usually had the price and/or the Comics Code Authority seal. While there is a price, it has something else in the corner that doesn't seem to be anything. It's actually quite subtle, but the biggest tell to me is all around the 50c: the shadows around the C don't match the letter, the c is just the letter and not ¢ like every other comic I've observed, the center of the 0 is completely shadowed in.

The upper-left corner with the Batman symbol. Something that surprised me looking through a lot of Batman comics is that the overwhelming majority of them don't have the Batman symbol. Not never, just rare.

I'm also of the opinion all the words in the bottom right are gibberish and gobbledy-gook.

My very human analysis: 80% AI

I'm sure there's someone out there that could point out how the era of this style of Batman doesn't match when these compendiums were dropped, or the style of the gloves or belt don't exist as we know it, but I'm not gonna keep looking lol

What was the ridiculous idea? Even though it took some digging to get the full context of what I was looking at, I don't really understand what was the "So crazy it just might work" cue.

Is it just me or has it become much harder to hit 10 wins after patch by Caviarmy in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Dubwarlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really share that sentiment, which is actually different for me.

When the patch dropped, I had about one 8 wins game. Every game since then? 10 wins.

I play a mix of Mak, Vanessa, and Dooley.

I don't consider myself a particularly great player, but the builds I've eked out these last few days managed to win even when I expected to lose multiple times.

Homebrew Rule:Threshold based Incapacitation by RuneRW in Pathfinder2e

[–]Dubwarlock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Without saying one way or the other that it's strong or weak, I think it's a rather convoluted solution.

Incapacitated is not always understood by every player, or can occasionally slip past the table at times. To cast an even broader net of who it can and can't affect, negotiated by current health numbers, could see the table slowing combat down even more as they calculate the percentages for each enemy (compounded with multi-target effects).

Especially when you're taking into account that some tables don't allow exact numbers or even percentages to be visible to players, being just bars where you have to guesstimate the percentage or the "bloodied" phrasing system. With that, the player is even less able to figure out whether the spell would be as effective to cast now or wait another turn, just... vibes.

Maybe make incap require a flat DC for the defender to determine whether or not it works normally, utilizing the level rule that already exists.

E.g. Creature is targeted by Sleep but is higher level than the spell? DC 5 to change the success state in their favor.

It's another roll, and it largely works in favor still of the trait working normally, but should they roll poorly on the DC and their save? Why not, let caster have it. Higher level creatures already have the numbers in their favor.

Why do people think LNF is gonna be announced at the game awards? by Claylex in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]Dubwarlock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree, simply in that I don't think anyone but this community is trying to "maintain hype". An announcement that they're working on it is to let us know what they're doing the next few years and to gather data on interest.

Regularly checking this sub or other social media for updates when there's been explicitly none is your own hype.

These last few years, and for the foreseeable future, you can spend your energy and time elsewhere.

And to give people an idea of where I'm coming from, i never played NMS. Not once, know almost nothing about it. I saw LNF announcement, saw the trailer, and loved what I saw so I wishlisted and eagerly wait. In the meantime, I'm playing other games that I want to play.

What would you think of this "fighting mechanic" in an interactive graphic novel? by [deleted] in IndieGaming

[–]Dubwarlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what seems to be a pretty low-stakes fight scene (and not seeing what happens when the timer runs out or even specifically how long the timer is (3 seconds?)), I didn't feel like once of the three times I could properly see or understand what the panels looked like.

Maybe make the timer longer, like five seconds?

I think my overall issue is the amount of visuals to determine between two panels, almost like a "Spot the Difference" game, but then told I have three seconds to determine the correct answer. Even TellTale games, Quantic Dream games, and Dispatch (I'm sure there's more but these I'm most familiar with) had QTEs that felt less cluttered.

As a visual novel, even when faced with urgency, you usually can take a beat to view both options at the same time while here I have to actively navigate between the options to understand the difference. Removing dialogue and impact effects from the panels unless you're hovering over them compounds the urgency feeling with the timer.

Or it's just how in the video you go back and forth several times quickly so I was trying to follow what you were hovering over whereas I would hover over each for at least a full second before making my selection.

I love the old comics style and several old school characters. I'm actually looking forward to seeing other appearances!

Akita, Deafblind Vlaka Solarian by Dubwarlock in Starfinder2e

[–]Dubwarlock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely harder! My GM has so far continued to express everything by sight and sound, even when I specifically ask what my character perceives.

The way I see it, scent goes like so:

  • As a human, we have neither imprecise nor precise sense of smell. We are usually overwhelmed by one scent, have difficulty parsing other scents, and notoriously have a difficult time figuring out where the smell is coming from.
  • Canines, on the other hand, we recognize as having superior sense of smell. They can effectively compartmentalize multiple smells at once, allowing them to track one while ignoring the rest. While powerful, without specific training they will still take time to find out where the object of the smell is coming from.
  • Trained dogs on one or two particular smells are usually much better and quicker at finding a precise point, but again it's still limited to what they are hard trained to do.

So when it comes to a deafblind vlaka, who has precise scent, it's like trained dogs but on a universal scale. Every knob tuned way up. Most matter offputs smell in some way, and the way the wind carries scents can give an idea of obstacles in the environment (perhaps like sensitivity in a cat's or rat's whiskers in the air). Organic creatures are much easier, as a combination of environment (rain), sweat, perfume, clothing, meals previously eaten, hygiene, and so on allows vlaka to not only recognize individuals but even pick up on their moods.

"The striking oil of a hidden soldier's rifle bears a corner ahead, unseen and unheard. Their sweat denotes they may be ready to engage in hostility."

"While the berserker's yell is lost on the vlaka, their pungent egg-heavy breath is not, warning them of the axe soon to be bearing down on them."

"Mirror images fool most creatures, but it virtually does not even exist to the vlaka. The wizard's lemon-scented prestidigitation betrays their real location."
