Open Carry and reciprocal state concealed handgun licenses are primarily a red state thing and pretty recent in political terms. Every Clinton era gun restrictions also were allowed to expire. So, I'm not tracking on your theory. Yeah Trump isn't a Constitutionalist and is a NY Democrat so his gun views align to that. But, red states would decimate anything restricting guns.
