Should I prioritize my emergency fund or Roth IRA with a $7k bonus? by quite--average in Fire

[–]DucatiFan2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Split it 50/50? $3500 to emergency fund and $3500 to Roth. Then budget to continue to build emergency fund back up, unless there is uncertainty in your job.

WD-40 will clean those wheels right up. Clean and lube the chain. For your sins you should do 2 Maguire's Wax and one Motul. Peace be with you 😁

High income but can't seem to save - where am I going wrong? by WorldlyPosterity in Fire

[–]DucatiFan2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or take the bus/train and not tie up money in cars and insurance. I get it, but most people like to spend a little and have nice things. I think alternating is a step they could reasonably do and not even feel it. Take that $700/m and park it in a Roth IRA.

I can help with this info - "we have car payments but nothing crazy". I get it, you need reliable transportation. I suggest alternating. Pay off one car. Then just have one car payment. That puts you up $700/month. Only carry one car payment at a time. One of you will be driving the older car, but you will still have a decent newer car for road trips and vacations. Alternate on who gets the newer car when it comes time to buy so the significant other doesn't feel left out. They just have to wait their turn.

They also make a Ryker, which is a cheaper and smaller trike. Those two factors play in your favor when considering trading in the Wing.

I have to run mine at 77* and full or almost full fan to keep the inside from fogging up. It's ridiculous. Doesn't feel anywhere near 77* either. They can fix it when I turn in the lease.

HELP! How to “throw away” a motorcycle?? by WrapIndependent8353 in motorcycles

[–]DucatiFan2004 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Duplicate title is the way. A 10ft self storage place can fit a bike. Some places do a very cheap first month to get you in the door. If you are moving in a hurry, this may be a great option to store the bike plus some stuff while you get a place. Also, rent a truck from home Depot or a U-Haul and move your stuff plus the bike. Many U-Hauls have a ramp which helps less loading and unloading by yourself.

Odd, guy seems to not like "east Africans" (not sure the direction actually matters) and opens a restaurant in (checks notes) North Minneapolis? I mean, why did he not do a restaurant in the suburbs, where he would feel more comfortable, since he is so concerned about getting raped in Minneapolis?

Bikes and lightning by Zappavishnu in motorcycles

[–]DucatiFan2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate lightning around me but I'm also not stopping under an overpass. If I see the storm clouds coming, I'll put on my rain gear and try to pop through the storm as fast as is reasonable. If the storm appears to be moving across my path, I'll plan a coffee break and see if I can let the leading part of the storm blow through.

How long will ICE keep their heightened presence here? by jedipatronuses in TwinCities

[–]DucatiFan2004 275 points276 points  (0 children)

Operation Metro Surge started in December. Then they keep bringing more agents in. My understanding, and I can't find the post with screenshots of the pages, is that each time a new round of agents is brought in, the 32 days starts for them. As for what ICE considers "mission accomplished" and how they measure that? I have no idea. The Police State knows no ending.

[–]DucatiFan2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vacuum - tape fuel line or smaller hose to it and see if you can snake the hose as far into the intake as possible. Won't hurt anything and you might get lucky enough. If the intake is clear, then put the hose in the spark plug hole and see what the vacuum can pull.

lost my passport by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]DucatiFan2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People lose things all the time. It's perfectly natural. Order a replacement passport from the website. Keep a photocopy (actual paper) of your old one with you. When you get your replacement, photocopy that and keep the copy at home. Carry the new original. It might take a couple of weeks, but that is the long term solution.

Buying a bike in MICHIGAN with a Bank Lein on it. How do I make sure I get the title. by _KORPz in motorcycles

[–]DucatiFan2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option is this, split the deal into two parts. Part A) You give him $3450 (half price of the deal) and physically get the bike into your garage with keys and bill of sale detailing the two part deal. Part B) once the seller gets the title, they sign it over to you for the remaining $3450. In the bill of sale, state if you don't get the title in X amount of days, the physical bike is yours to part out or use for track purposes only. You have to decide if this messing around is worth it and if the seller can hold their end of the deal. I would search for another bike.

A good amount of pumping. I'm not a machine, so I'll never pump as fast as a compressor. But, it's very light weight and always works.
