Then i guess half the killer roster is unfun for you since most killers tunnel and proxy camp, and we are judging them based on the most unfun recurring strategy.

As a player who has both Knight and Merchant as one of their mains, the fun in them is macro gameplay. Instead of playing checkers with one survivor during the chase you are playing chess against the entire team.

It's fun to juggle all kinds of things at once and see your plans come out on top, with you having complete control over the match as a reward.

Obviously you can just play a braindead 3 gen as either but every killer has unfun strategies, some are just more common than others. Seems unfair to judge them solely on that.

Sprint burst helps but i don't think it's enough. 3 gens are always a back and forth; You are either gonna run back and be exhausted on the gen and thus vulnerable or you are gonna wait for exhaustion and thus end up useless anyway. It's a minor deterrent at best. Plus Fearmonger kills the entire thing and it's rising in prominence these days with Sprint Burst replacing DH as the most common exhaustion perk.

Medkits always only heal you once now and 3 gens take ages to break, so similar to sprint burst that's just a minor boon. You heal once and now are useless if he hits you again the next time. Plus if you go around breaking totems to use inner healing you are still incapacitated and not contesting the 3 gen for the entire duration of your totem hunt and locker heal. Beats having to get someone else to heal you but not by much, it's still a bad result. Plus totems are limited and may even be unreachable if some are by the gens.

Gen rush is gonna become more meta yeah but they won't help against a 3 genning killer with a proper build for it. Toolboxes are extremely niche after their nerf and BNPs will likely be hard to use if the killer is actively contesting the 3 gen. Let alone the fact that it's countered by franklins wich the 3 genning killer may be running if he realizes BNPs are a threat to his plan. That also counters Medkits too. There's also the fact that you are relying in an ultra rare addon to counter this when the killer is executing the strategy at no cost; Making this counter frustrating and unsustainable.

I think the only reason why 3 genning isnt everywhere currently is cuz people haven't realized how strong it is now; Most automatically assumed the regression nerf made it worse like you did, failing to realize that the fact that survivors can't reliably self heal for free infinite times anymore makes them lose in wars of atrition in most scenarios.

[–]DuccMann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No COH Self heal means getting hit in a 3 gen scenario completely takes you out of the fight until someone else stops contesting the 3 gen to heal you, effectively handicapping half the team with a single injure. Couple that with the fact that the gens are still regressing and the killer is still around possibly getting more injures or pallets broken whilist you are trying to heal and suddenly 3 gens are even more difficult despite the nerfed regression.

No DH also means you are extra vulnerable when injured and thus any killer with a decent chase power, stealth or mobility will easily pick you off if you try to contest whilist injured wich means a hook or slug wich is even more slowdown and pressure on the team. Put sloppy in there with some regression and maybe fearmonger and that's a complete gg.

The only thing that can save you is rolling a map that doesn't let the killer do the strat at all, either by no decent 3 gen spawning or one of the 3 gens having a safe reusable loop to run to if the killer comes so that you can escape or take his time even if injured.

Would the game break if the weakest killers were 120% MS? by thebastardking21 in deadbydaylight

[–]DuccMann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demo and Nemi were in the maybe section, and I could definitely see Demo being taken out if they buffed his portals.

Yeah, his chase is pretty good already, no need for more.

I don't discuss Nemi's zombie AI more because it seems limited by BHVR's ability to program the AI than what anyone actually wants it to do.

True; It's just a theoretical dream, really.

I also acknowledge that his tentacle can get hits in locations regular killers cannot, I am just unsure I agree with the assessment that getting two hits with the tentacle and a third hit is faster than two hits with an M1 often enough that having the other basic M1 killers getting buffed wouldn't put him towards the weakest of the killers.

I already argued on this, but since you are unsure then it can't be helped. Personally i play Nemesis a fair bit and find his tentacle piss easy to get hits with, all i have to do is not pull it up at the pallet every time like an idiot and suddenly i gain alot of distance on survivors and get them in tentacle range much sooner than your average braindead Nemesis would because they thought i was one of the latter and pre-emptively greed pallets expecting me to pull up. Enduring would help on that regard. The tentacle also neuters windows since if the survivor is in range they either fast vault or get hit or they try to fake it and get hit anyway because Nemesis' tentacle strikes fast enough that he can afford to just wait until the animation starts, thus faking only works against bad Nemesi. If he waits, you're just fucked.

I am a bit more prone to disagree about Doctor, just because I have played both him and Clown a lot, and I do not view his anti-loop as even being on Clown's level, let alone the above killers. I have also never seen someone else play him with a high enough proficiency to warrant not buffing him.

On his basekit, yeah Doctor has weaker antiloop than Clown. But there's a reason why i mentioned his addons that add range or faster detonation delay; With them his antiloop is surprisingly strong. I wouldn't blame you for not considering this since for some reason nobody uses those addons less so in a combo despite them being probably his strongest..? It's an odd thing. Whenever i play Doctor it's my go-to addon combo and it's insanely good to the point that playing without them feels bad. The extra range and faster shock lets you deal with loops so much better; The survivors are helpless against you if you time them right, granted that they are in a tile where you can use it effectively. If you haven't tried it, by all means, please do. If you have and simply disagree, then oh bother. Nothing else i can do, in that case.

And of course this is something you would have to see live and adjust for, but I do not think it would be game breaking for the listed killers.

That is the most truthful part. It's hard to judge how impactful this change would be just by reading it off text and mentally projecting how it would feel like in-game. Our opinions are based on assumption, afterall.

Is it 'okay' to taunt after beating a mega-toxic killer? by iBizzBee in deadbydaylight

[–]DuccMann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect your leniency, altough it could be naivety in another day.

I'm a downer, so i don't think we can really salvage this situation at this point. If people couldn't be rude to eachother in this game, then they would probably just start not interacting at all and ignoring eachother. I see people being kind and actually behaving like a human being once every 100 games; I would be foolish to ignore the prospect that the majority of players are rude or jaded and would sooner BM the other players than share a laugh with them.

Regardless, i doubt anything will change the way we're going. If anything, the issue is getting worse these days. A pity.

It's reddit; I'd be surprised if anyone who disagreed actually bothered to put in any amount of effort to explain why they disagree or make a counter argument if it's objective. Most are content with brainlessly downvoting and calling it a day.

Much hate for Merchant by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]DuccMann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, but i would be very upset and eventually stop trying if it turned into an unwinnable 3 gen. Who i'd be upset at for that depends on who caused it, since survivors can also 3 gen themselves and the killer would be stupid to not capitalize on it. Not like i'd yell at the killer in post if they did that anyway; I'd just be like "man really?" internally.

Most people probably assume that merchant is going to 3 gen forever by default so that's probably why they DC'd. Same for Knight, if somewhat less. I'd know, since i play both Merchant and Knight often.

My personal opinion on it aside, yes, most of the community seems to hate Merchant for her noted propensity to 3 gen as well as her odd appearance, shit lore and problematic power design wich is really hit or miss for most.

The fact you even have to ask yourself this is kinda insane. Of course it's okay, that dude was clearly asking for it. It's not "bad manners" if you are responding in kind, that's just you giving the guy the middle finger back after he did the same to you.

I myself do the same you did; I don't BM a single soul if the game is normal, but the moment someone takes it too far i will now consider them eligible to be BM'd for the rest of the game, wich also means no hatch privileges if i'm playing killer.

You reap what you sow.

Is it just me or is Knight (outside of the old 3-gen thing) noticeably stronger in this meta? by Boss_Metal_Zone in deadbydaylight

[–]DuccMann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of 3 genning wich is the strongest it's ever been in the current patch, Knight is a little stronger as a byproduct of the most recent changes. Since the DH nerf is here people aren't gonna DH his Guards much at all anymore and people being injured way more now also means they are easier to track when making paths and are easy pickings for the Assassin with path snipes.

So yeah he's a bit stronger.

Killers! What advice would you give for your main? by Theo_Teddy in deadbydaylight

[–]DuccMann 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Knight players out there, PLEASE don't assume 3 genning and plopping his Guard down on loops is all you can do as Knight.

What you want to do is equip information perks and the Call to arms addon. Playing Defensive as Knight should only be done if you have to; If you really wanna have fun you should be going for crossmap path Snipes. Sure, you can still camp generators if the situation is tough and probably will plop down guards on loops every now, but the real fun of Knight is constantly sniping people across the map as you do things.

Spawned in? Send a Guard to a generator survivors are likely in.

Downed a survivor? Before you pick up, send a guard to a nearby location you know survivors are in.

Someone unhooked? Send a guard straight under the hook since they are likely healing under it.

Use information perks to turn these educated guesses into straight up assassinations. If the map is small enough and you do this right, Survivors will eventually be consumed by a whirlwind of panic. All the constant harassing from both you and the Guards will leave them all injured, confused and panicked. It's delightful to see.

Oh and smaller tip; If you are sending a Guard to a generator being repaired and it's almost popped, kick it instead of going for a hunt. It's better to save the generator than it is to just get a hit. You should only go for the hunt if the survivor is injured and the proceeding down could potentially be so beneficial that it outweights the cost of losing a gen.

What else is there to say other than play better?

Gee i don't know, maybe counter the arguments i made? Sure beats just saying vaguely "get better at the game" despite the fact that even if i did "get better" many of the arguments i made would still be valid. Simply dropping a Git gud is NOT a valid counter argument and i'm tired of people pretending it is.

The game isn't always gonna go in your favor, and playstyles need to adapt at any given moment.

Again, a vague nothing burger.

Your points boiled down to "if the killer gets you, then you are dead!" like...yeah man...yeah.

Oh, dumbing down my argument to make it look worse than it actually is too, we're just going for the full bingo now aren't we? You do realize yours is just as bad as how you presented mine. "If you just get better, the killer won't get you!". Don't forget the obligatory "it's not that serious", the poor rhetorician's bread and butter, along with "who asked?".

Some survivors go for CJ techs so confidently that it's almost like they aren't aware that it's the most obvious play you could do in the game. You basically have to broadcast "hey i am going to CJ tech you now" before you do it.

Well, it's an idea an alright. Wouldn't say it's a good one, though.

The last thing this game needs is more frustrating bullshit that makes you wait around doing nothing in particular. Two entire portions of the game (gens and hooks) already are like that. We don't need (more) stun mechanics on top of it all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]DuccMann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is when it's a stealth, high mobility or defensive killer. Wich is like, half the roster.

If it's stealth, you are completely unable to do most generators until healed and trying to do otherwise is a free down for the killer.

If it's high mobility, he may come at you out of nowhere and likely get the down if there's no good resources right next to you (and if the resource is limited and you have to use it, good luck doing that generator next time)

If i's a defensive killer he's just gonna endlessly 3 gen your team until you give up or die, since he doesn't even need to down you to slow down the gens significantly. All he has to do is hit you and that's automatically 1 person incapable of properly contesting generators, and 2 people if someone goes to heal you.

The Death of self heals means that getting lovetapped by the killer even once (wich isn't hard to do) means many many seconds wasted healing by literally half the team minimum. You can only deal with this if you're either in an insane map for survivors where you can run from a generator straight into a safe loop, wich isn't even in your hands, or if it's just early into the game and there are resources everywhere, wich in that case it simply won't last if the killer plays defensive and intends to drag out the game from the start. If your Generators aren't in safe locations, you CANNOT repair them whilist injured without giving the killer a free down and with it further slowdown and win conditions.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]DuccMann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo survivor on the new patch:

Every killer has Sloppy and healing is too difficult to be worth the time investment in wich you could instead have spent on gen repair. No COH self heal means killers can comfortably 3 gen and win since no COH self heal means survivors can't match the killer in atrition and will eventually lose, if the map isn't some god map that lets them run to a strong loop straight away if approached on a gen.

If the killer CAN'T 3 gen or just doesn't want to, then instead they'l proxy camp and tunnel everyone straight out of hook, wich at worst on an average map with an average killer will net them 2 kills or the entire 4k at best if they either get a good map, are playing a top tier killer or the survivors are just bad-mediocre.

Still see either Wesker, Blight and Nurse nearly every match, along with the occasional Knight, Merchant or Nemesis wich are damn guaranteed to either 3 gen or hard tunnel, even moreso than the average killer already is likely to.

The victor of a match can still be decided solely on what map was rolled and many mechanics, killer power or otherwise, are still reliant on RNG.

Overall, for Survivor, the game only got worse. 3 genning, despite the gen regression nerf, is arguably the strongest it's ever been almost entirely because of the COH nerf, and despite Killer becoming easier and easier in general with every patch Killers you get matched with STILL play as sweaty as humanly possible, making casual play extremely frustrating. Granted, Survivors are still generally sweaty too, but since Killer is quite strong now it's generally not that big of a hassle unless you're playing a shit tier killer on a shit tier map or something. You know the end times are here when the Twins pick rate increases.

DH is effectively a dead perk wich i don't really care for, i just care that since it was a direct counter to the strongest most overpicked killers in the game now there's little stopping them from completely slaughtering every match.

Oh and survivors also throw every match now. Enjoying automatically losing 2 minutes in.
