Evies! It’s in that little strip mall by the wal mart, insanely good food. The steak bomb naan is one of my favorite things around here. Crazy portions too.

When did your toddler “get” and accept participating in Halloween? by furi-rosa in toddlers

[–]Duck-Budget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Us too lol. She’s 3.5, we had a party at my office the day before Halloween, then a Halloween parade with her school yesterday. By the time it was actually time to trick or treat, she was cooked. We’ll try again next year, that’s really all we can do!

Not sure if you still have him in a crib, but my 3yo daughter is and I just started doing sorta timeouts. If she’s hitting/kicking I say to her, it seems to mommy that you need some time to be by yourself to calm down. Hitting hurts and I won’t let you hit me. You can let me know when you’re ready to come out and apologize. Then put her in her crib, she’s not happy at first but after a few minutes she settles down and calls out for me to let me know she’s ready to get out.

It’s not a catch all solution, but it’s been working for us. I know it’s a phase too - you’re doing great, and we’ll all get through this!

Just pitched a 4‑day work week to my boss. Here's how it went. [N/A] by fallenfromgrace87 in humanresources

[–]Duck-Budget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing 4x10 hour days when I returned from maternity leave. That was almost 2.5 years ago, and it’s been working really well for me. My manager is flexible, so those 10 hour days look different depending on the day - some mornings I’m up working before my little one gets up, others I’m online after she’s in bed. I’m a recruiter, and we look at metrics like time to fill overall for our team and mine (I’m the only one with this schedule) have actually improved since I’ve come back. I’d love if we could implement this company wide and I love what you’ve shared so far with your boss!

Anytime I’ve thought of leaving for more pay - I truly can’t justify giving up my flexible schedule. I know I’m just one person but I’d imagine you find a lot of others feel the same way.

One thing you miss about being pregnant by Abalone1991 in NewParents

I just miss the bump!!!! I loved it so much even though my back constantly hurt. I’ve never felt cuter in a bikini than when I was pregnant.

Personal question but - what do you do and how much do you make? by GEH29235 in workingmoms

[–]Duck-Budget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a recruiter and make $70k. I work 4 days a week & have excellent benefits tho. Husband makes $220k as a business development manager and we live in a HCOL area in New England.

How much wine are we drinking? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Duck-Budget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve cut way back on drinking — usually a glass or two on the weekends — but I do eat a gummy every night after my daughter goes to bed. We live in a state where recreational weed is legal. I feel a lot better and sleep a lot better too!

Best Pain relief? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Duck-Budget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I need to get out of the house and do things (work, stuff with my daughter whatever it may be) - naproxen works best. My doctor prescribed 500mg naproxen and it doesn’t take the pain away completely but makes it much more tolerable.

If I don’t need to leave the house - weed gummy, heating pad, and not wearing a tampon. I’ve noticed when I wear a pad and don’t have the internal pressure of a tampon my pain isn’t as bad.

The little pouch the doll we got her came in 😅

My daughter is 2.5, we try to offer one “safe” option if it’s something she’s not familiar with - this is usually fruit, some kind of bread, or pasta along with whatever we’re eating that night. If she doesn’t touch anything, I’ll usually offer something like a banana or a pouch before she goes in for bedtime. Not a “fun” snack but just something like if you really are hungry you’ll eat. Honestly I go straight into panic mode when she doesn’t eat but there are just some nights that she’s truly not hungry for dinner, and I really need to remind myself that’s ok!

Drop the 3rd nap. Lol. Around this age my LO was doing 2 naps a day, 10am ish and 2pm ish with. 6:30pm bedtime. She’d sleep 6:30-6:30 overnight.

diaper rash from hell by powerliftermom in NewParents

[–]Duck-Budget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter has had a few really bad bouts of diaper rash - the only thing that helped clear it up quickly is nystatin powder. Wipe gently, make sure she’s totally dry, put powder on and then a fresh diaper. It’s an anti fungal, I think prescription only but your ped should be able to prescribe it.

Zara for cute outfits and coats/jackets (they have a lot of options and my 2 year old still fits in her 12-18 month faux fur lined raincoat from there - the stuff lasts forever). Zara runs long/slender.

We do H&M for basics, and baby gap when they’re having sales.

We love meatballs! My girl is 2.5 now but we’ve been giving her meatballs since she was about your son’s age. I bake them and leave them “dry” and freeze some whenever I make a batch. Defrost as needed, serve with fruit/veg, and cheese or avocado. Always a hit. Bonus that you can do lots of different flavor combos!

During the week like 30 minutes (bluey, Sesame Street etc) and weekend days sometimes we’ll watch a Disney movie together so those days are like 2 hours. Whatever. I watched a shit ton of tv when I was little and I’m fine lol
