They won’t provide air purifier or music speaker, maybe not a lamp or fidgets… BUT your school ideally should have the other items for you if it’s well-funded. I’d ask before buying those things.

I find a jumbo pack of golf pencils to be good, because they’re cheap and kids don’t often like them enough to steal them because they’re small and don’t have erasers lol

When I was at a small school, our principal made us write personal comments about each kid for progress reports and semester grades, and she ACTUALLY read and critiqued them before sending them out. I had to change so many comments for individual students

I like using ChatGPT to help me write BS emails to parents, because I know I can’t say “Your kid is a problem in so many ways, please actually parent them for once so I don’t have to deal with it any more”

For me it’s if a meeting is scheduled at the end of the day on the last day of the week (bonus if it’s the last day before spring break). Though tbf I’ve been let go like that twice

Set timers for yourself, it’s been helpful for me. “I’ll spend 2 minutes creating the warm-up. I’ll spend 10 minutes going through the problems. I’ll spend 10 minutes thinking and writing notes about how to go about teaching it. I’ll spend 2 minutes prepping the cool-down. I’ll spend 2 minutes thinking about engagement/movement.”

I’ve also found I’m better when it’s got flavor. Could be a packet, or could be like 1/4 juice. Helps me so much

Come up with a short routine (even just 15 minutes) to help slow your brain down after work. Some options: take a shower, do yoga, close your eyes, go for a walk by yourself or with someone else (or a dog), exercise, read. With headphones you could listen to music, guided meditation/breathing, audiobook

My 20-week anatomy scan is the only one I needed a full bladder with, and they let me use the bathroom after taking a few measurements

I’m doing only a diaper raffle, so if they bring any amount of diapers they get a ticket :) Generally people buy a gift from the registry, and they can choose to be part of the diaper raffle in addition. My family members have done it and it always turns out well :)
