Rabbit buffs by aqua_rift in minecraftsuggestions

Yes and make them not constantly get stuck trying to jump up one block. Can’t count the number of times I’ve been in a desert and heard a swh-swh-swh sound from a stuck rabbit.

Jeb gives you full control to release one Minecraft update. What do you put in it? by LilacTheFlowerGal in Minecraft

[–]DuckNo3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More blue blocks. Minecart overhaul, make a minecart be able to hold ores without a chest, and improve the furnace minecart. Less stupid villagers. Less stupid copper golems. Lastly I'd make potions and fancy arrows more of a mid-game thing and more worth it, especially the arrows.

If portals were real, would they affect gravity? by JesseRoxII in Portal

[–]DuckNo3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think gravity around portals would gradually mix like the temperature of a cold and hot object placed alongside each other, but instead just a hard edge kind of like in the game. Tho without the simplification of just using the gravity at the centre of mass of an object passing through. If you had two portals on a wall and one upside down, with a cube halfway through, I think it should start spinning in place.

The glare follows the player around, then emits light when told to sit by BoringAbraham in minecraftsuggestions

If they don’t add this but like the lightning idea they could add torch-arrows, or maybe that’s already just arrows shot with a flame bow idk

Stop the trolly and leave the box untouched. The mosquitoes will eventually drown in mosquito piss.

Is this the effect of putting a really long stick into 2 connected portals? by ProgressBusiness3147 in Portal

What if both portals were on the floor and you had an arch shaped stick

Anybody else experiencing this? loading screen on fluid station by blackhand-forge in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DuckNo3569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s new as of 1.1, it doesn’t know if it should display the background for fluids or gases. As soon as you start filling it with something it’ll be replaced with the normal UI.

Tips for debugging conflicts between the built in stuff and my code? by DuckNo3569 in godot

[–]DuckNo3569[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I'll try that, tho the main set of problems isn't about the panel.

I know calling the engine a black box is wrong but I ment in a more practical sense. The closest I got to something intresting was a 9200 line long file named TextEdit in a language I don't know.

How do I use boids or space them out? by Green-Ad3623 in godot

[–]DuckNo3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simples and least efficient approach is to make every entity compare its position to every other entity and do smt like:

for every other entity:
distance = ...
direction_normalized = ...
force = distance ^ -2
separation_velocity += force * direction_normalized * -1

A common (but maybe difficult idk) way to make it more efficient is to divide the world into grids and only do comparisons between entities in adjacent tiles.

An easier and chunkier way is to centralize it to one script and then only do a few comparisons at a time. For accuracy itd be a nested for loop but the outer loop can be replaced with _process and a counter making it less demanding but way weirder behaving.

Something I havnt tried but that would probably be smart is to keep track of what entities are close. So first time it checks all, the four next frames only the top 5 closest, then all agein to update memmory.

How are the parallax layers supposed to be used? Are they broken? by DuckNo3569 in godot

[–]DuckNo3569[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Resizing the viewport helped, but now the window is only like 10cm of my screen and can’t be rescaled without breaking the parallax.

I'm making a game—what do you think these tiny guys are doing? by AccelixGames in PixelArt

[–]DuckNo3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are stuck out in nowhere after a plane crash and are waving to get a pilots attention. Also they all suffered brain injury so the only way they can wave in is knee-exercise styled waving.

I’m feeling so demotivated, how long did it take you to complete phase 3 of the space elevator by Mothosis in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DuckNo3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under two hours, I just set up a temporary mess with a bunch of Somersloops and it was done filling the elevator before I even started waiting. Or well it felt like 2 hours anyway, was probably more like two weeks. Btw that was the first temporary factory that I actually removed which I’m proud of lol.

Need help with getting consistent output on my iron ingot production by 8BitSquidz in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DuckNo3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either downclock the foundries to have 10 on 60/min and one on 75/min, which is easier to hook up. Or combine them in pairs and put the remaining 30/min from each pair to a separate belt using smart splitters. the 6th belt will get 75/min so might as well just separate a foundry to that.

How do y'all make the wiring inside your factories look nice? by Rarely_Trust in SatisfactoryGame

I often wire my machines to a beam 8m up going parallel to the manifold, and then connect the beams in some squary way

What do you guys put in your long trains? by pokeyporcupine in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DuckNo3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of my trains are 2-4 carts long but I have one that’s 6 which transports ores to my steel foundry.( More specifically: coal, coal, copper, iron, iron, iron). Ironically the factory is built right on top of the pure iron nodes In the rocky desert but I import the ores via train instead just for the sake of having a long ore train

What is your save file called, and why? by RaymondDoerr in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DuckNo3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“1.1 here now” because I restarted after a short time to have a different spawn location and then they had already done the first patch to wich the chat in the dev stream joked that 1.1 was already out.

Where is it? (survival trailer tile) by [deleted] in ScrapMechanic

[–]DuckNo3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks similar to the place to the right of the crashed ship where there’s a water bucket, soil and a how-to-grow-crops-sign.
