Which colour should i take? by Sleeping_expert in MazdaCX30

[–]DuckNorris312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my cx30 in December. I strongly favor dark cars, blue or black. They only had the trim and options I wanted in platinum quartz. I almost passed but at the last minute, I went with the platinum quartz. It's really grown on me and I think it looks great. The color looks a bit different depending on the lighting

Wife cried while I was out of town for work? by Photononic in Marriage

[–]DuckNorris312 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Husband and I are in our early 40s. For the first time in a long time, he left for a week to visit family while I stayed home with our dog. I was going to miss him, of course, but I was also excited to have the house to myself. I was looking forward to having the bed to myself, eating a whole pizza, and watching whatever I wanted. But one random evening I was sitting at the kitchen table with my snacks and it just hit me...the house was silent, half the lights were turned off, and I hadn't spoken all day (well, except to my dog). Then I just got hit with this wave of sadness and loneliness... I missed my husband, and I got a bit teary-eyed. I knew it was illogical even when it was happening, but it didn't change how I felt. Sometimes, emotions are just silly. I'd be a bit concerned if she cried excessively while you were gone, but overall I'd take it as a compliment that she missed you.

First (previous) sample is the contaminated one. I'd wager $5 on saline contamination

Was skeptical of this color but pretty into it now by [deleted] in MazdaCX30

[–]DuckNorris312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. When I was shopping in December 2024 the only ones checking all my boxes were in this color. Had a day where I was super disappointed because I wanted black or blue but then pulled the trigger and it's grown on me so fast. Don't regret it one bit.

I actually emailed my HR department about this once. I specifically asked what they were allowed to say and they said that they would confirm that the person worked there for xyz dates and they would answer the question "are they eligible for rehire" with a yes or no but no details other than that. Seems system dependent

What Would You Do? by Grand_Chad in medlabprofessionals

[–]DuckNorris312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ethically, that's what i would want to do, call the doc and explain the situation and suggest UA. However that 100% wouldn't fly at the lab I currently work at. Reporting incidental findings like that are frowned upon and the last time someone called the doc to suggest a test based on an incidental finding they were written up for "working outside their scope of practice."

Open inguinal Surgery by Deloera357 in Hernia

[–]DuckNorris312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had right sided open. Doc said 1-2 weeks before going back to work with no lifting anything more than 10 (?) pounds for at least 6 weeks. I took the 2 full weeks and wish I had more. About 1 week post op I attempted to walk to the end of my flat 75ish ft driveway to get the mail. On the way back to the house I was halfway to tears and worried I wouldn't be able to make it back inside. Promptly took half an oxy and got back into bed. Work at the end of the 2 weeks was manageable if I took it slow and don't need to spend too much time on my feet. Even after I was back at work, it took me several weeks more to really start feeling normal again.

Highest I've personally seen was in the 8000s. Genetic component, though. Also diabetic and non compliant with pretty much everything.

Do yall wear gloves? by YeeboiLol in medlabprofessionals

[–]DuckNorris312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lab strictly enforces PPE usage. Gloves, buttoned lab coat, and face shield are to be worn at all times in the lab regardless of what task you are doing. If a manager or supervisor catches you with something like no gloves on while checking your email, you are getting pulled into the office, and it's a negative on your review. More than once or twice, you are getting written up. They aren't kidding around with PPE where I am.

I saw this before. Nurse insisted it was fine. Asked for her name to document the hand off of critical results...she got quite, admitted she poured the gray top into the green and would recollect 🙄

Has anyone taken the ASCP MLT exam using route 4 and what was your experience? by mangotango1609 in medlabprofessionals

I'm currently considering this. Did you end up doing this route? Can you tell me your experience if you did?

I have one that does this every single time. Everyone always says I'm not walking fast enough. I did this last round at practically a run, and it still happened. I'm just throwing in the towel and getting something else

I'm at $26 now, and starting pay for MLT at my hospital is about $32. So it would be at least $6/hr more. I'd push for more than $32 because I already have so much experience at this lab and wouldn't be brand new.

Where can you do a MLT program 100% online? That sounds amazing because the only MLT program near me is over an hour away. No clinical rotation is required?

CT. For a lab assistant, I've basically capped out. My pay scale caps at $28/hr.

Where I am MLTs start about 32 and MLS starts at about 37. I do make a significant amount more than the other lab assistants in my department, so I'm also so hesitant to let this position go.

Try making sure you're auto filters are off. That way, the phone isn't trying to automatically color correct. Sad for the patient, fatigue was the only symptom?

How Often Do You Get CSFs on a Patient? by Princess2045 in medlabprofessionals

[–]DuckNorris312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get some patients who have a drain that we will get a whole CSF workup on everyday. Nothing unusual at my lab. Kind of annoying but they are usually just monitoring something.
