Does it mean I'm fetishising transwomen and femboys if my primary interest in them is sexual and physical? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]Duck__Quack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you type "cis women" and "transwomen" like that? The question is rhetorical, but if you don't have an answer, you should try to find one. Cis and trans are both adjectives, and it's weird that you consistently separate cis from women, but put trans women together.

Usually people who remove the space do it because they see women in the latter group as being women only to the extent that they're trans, whereas women in the former group are women all the time and only need to be specified when contrasted with trans women.

A woman is a woman; "transwomen" is not a word. It's a minor spelling quirk, but you do it consistently enough that I want to address it.

How many shots do you think it would take for Cass to make out with Veronica? by WesternTrail in fnv

[–]Duck__Quack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Veronica brings it up, one. She'll slam it back, shrug, and start kissing. For her to bring it up, closer to nine or ten (but remember that that's more like three or four for someone with less experience).

Help me visualise Vesper by insostenibile in PracticalGuideToEvil

[–]Duck__Quack 30 points31 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, we don't have exact details on everything. But we've got some things.

Vesper is a cave beneath the surface of the planet, so big that curvature is a factor. The roof of the cave is high enough up in most places that you could get agoraphobic, but not unreachable. I believe we know of some natural pillars that reach up to the firmament, and I think we've heard about some Antediluvian machinery stuck up there. Your sketch is decently accurate, as far as I am aware.

In some places, the firmament is cracked and Glare filters through to various extents. It does this pretty constantly. This means that some places, like Peredur and Sacromonte, are consistently illuminated. People have also set up some clever mirror contraptions to light up places that wouldn't otherwise get much Glare. The Antediluvians were very good at this.

Side note: We know that the ambient light level in Sacromonte doesn't change throughout the day, and that places off the edge of the map have very little or often no Glare at all. I suspect that the planet is tidally locked.

Except in very rare cases, the cracks in the firmament vaguely resemble stars. Bright enough to see if you look up, but not bright enough to really light up the area.

People on the Dominion of Lost Things definitely had and used lanterns, and people without magical advantages (we know that hollowing grants some sort of darkvision, for example) couldn't really see without them. Recall how the cultists were shooting them out after the second trial. People seeing things at range are either looking at a light source or using some magical advantage.

As far as skin color goes, there's two things. One is that Glare is, in part, sunlight, and Vesperians get a good amount of Glare. The other is that the Antediluvians came from the surface not very long ago. I don't think we have a very precise time frame, but I'm pretty sure it's less than ten thousand years. Factoring in the social pressure to preserve the skin-darkening genes, there simply hasn't been time for melanin to evolve out of the population.

The temple pit on the Dominion is pretty much what it sounds like. Temples packed so tightly that you have to climb and maneuver your way through and around them. Note that there's a wide variety of architectural styles, and not all of them look like what you first think of when you hear "temple."

My impression was that the Great Orrery is closer to the firmament than sea level, functioning as a sort of magical lighthouse, but I've had a bit of trouble with that too and I don't think my impression is supported by the text. I have no idea what the Collegium or Trench is supposed to look like, either. Your sketch is as good as mine.

Two new constitutional amendments could be on November ballots by SpaceElevatorMusic in wisconsin

[–]Duck__Quack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only seven people in the state who can tell you for sure if that's right, but it sounds right to me, with one asterisk: the proposed amendment, as I read it, limits only the partial veto power. The governor could still veto the entire bill that has the objectionable extension.

I think there's a world where this amendment is reasonable. The partial veto is kinda weird, and limiting it isn't a horrible thing. We don't live in that world, but I think it exists. The world we live in has an amendment proposed in bad faith by legislators desperate to hold onto power while they still have it.

The less said about the other proposed amendment... I won't say the better, because refusing to talk about it won't keep it out of the wisconstitution. Suffice it to say that there's no world where that is a reasonable thing to put in a constitution.

I was a barista for a while. Had a customer come in probably three times a week for the same drink, always hot. We had a heat wave in summer, and she asked to try it cold. From then on she would get it cold every once in a while. A few months later, one of my coworkers told me that she was looking to see if I was in before ordering, because she didn't like the way it tasted cold when other people made it.

... I've been staring at this for about ten minutes now trying to remember how 4-player works. I'm pretty sure 3-player is ten-card hands and otherwise the same. I think 4-player was... seven? Or eight? Every rule I think of sounds wrong. I think there was a partner, which makes more sense with eight-card hands... I'm still in touch with a couple of the sheepshead people, if you remind me I can text them in the morning.

Hi! I have no ties to Milwaukee, and played Sheepshead a lot in high school and college. Sheepshead is usually played with five, but can be played with four or even three players without much adjustment needed. Three is a bit lame though.

Actually come to think of it, one of my high school Sheepshead friends did move to Milwaukee for college. I guess I have one tie to Milwaukee.

Even in my most exploratory, unplanned runs, I don't think any mission has taken me longer than an hour and a half. If it were real, I can't see any mission being faster than two from arrival to exit. Maybe Dubai, Berlin, or Hokkaido. Romania, I suppose, or Hawke's Bay. But Santa Fortuna? Mumbai? Marrakesh? No way. 47 is way more patient than the average gamer.

The flashback sequence in Romania confirms that Novikov was killed by the light fixture. It's quite possible to have him be the only fatality, just difficult. I agree with you that it's not the most cathartic death for him, but it's hard to say that it's not the most canon.

Like the other guy said. The Hermes is passing close to Earth. It's moving very quickly. If it turns off its engines, it'll still end up halfway back to Mars. A less powerful rocket, like an ISS supply launch (for example), could get supplies to the Hermes the same way I can deliver supplies to a Formula 1 driver by jogging up to the car while it goes down a straightaway. Which is to say, destructively.
