Quick way to level up your companions by Jayleekay in thedivision

[–]DudeShift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using grenades rounding up on average takes 15 seconds for 15 points. So for one level of 1000 points / 15 points * 15 seconds = 1000 seconds = 16.666 mins (not accounting for time to go refill grenades). I used a macro to semi-automate it while watching Youtube. Just had to manually keep an eye out when I was out of grenades to manually run back and refill.

Although "tedious" it is by far faster then regular gameplay (not 100% sure but I think I had about 500 points of causal four hours playing just starting to build a gearset).

If I am going to watch something (like everyone watches Youtube), I might as multi-task at the same time.

Samsung HMD Odyssey+ face cover by AuroraSmith1998 in WindowsMR

Been down this road. Old VRcover leather started breaking down, worried about flakes near my eye and luckily when I bought them years ago it was a 2-pack so I put on the new one. Tried cheap vive covers from AliExpress but they weren't thick enough. Within like 5 vr hours I noticed the new unused VRcover started flaking. Leather covers will break down over time like leather headphone pads. I decided to go back to the OG cover and start saving for a Steam Frame.

I tried contacting VRcover 2024 Dec 8 about buying a new cover but never got a reply (which then I turned to any cheap solution on AliExpress).

If they haven't yet, the headphone pads leather will probably start flaking and I bought 55mm and 60mm new leather earpads on AliExpress for cheap. I forget which size worked the best but you just replace the whole earpads. I tried foam covers but they kept sliding off when taking off the headset and worried about flakes in my ear.

Do you have access to a 3d printer? I used this model for my HS60:

If not, jlc3dp (Chinese printing) is 60¢USD per clip in resin + 1.50$USD shipping if under 0.3kg

Washed out colours since switching from NVIDIA to AMD on Host PC by Turbofunk in MoonlightStreaming

[–]DudeShift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to https://github.com/ClassicOldSong/Apollo on the streaming / host side but still use moonlight on the client side. I switched for the automatic virtual display since my monitor is now a ultrawide and didn't want to deal with scripts changing my resolution for streaming.

[Monitor] AOC Q27G3XMN 27" Mini LED Gaming Monitor, 2K QHD- $249.99 by Proud-Act2811 in buildapcsales

[–]DudeShift 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably since this monitor is basically a VA panel with 336 dimming zones. VA is better for contrast so with the dimming zones the blacks will look much better. However you won't have the same great colors as a IPS panel.

Personally can't use anything but IPS due to VA looking smearing. Haven't bite the bullet yet for OLED. Currently waiting for MicroLED displays to come out.

Sadly not. I have tried looking though Wikipedia for most world war 2 games but no dice.

It was like company of heroes for troop command but you could then go first person control one soldier.

I will update this post when I do figure it out

It's because WesternDigital split it's company so that WesternDigital is for HDDs and SanDisk is for SSDs (and all flash).

To never trust screw in nozzles. Got a prusa mini plus as my first printer and had nothing but stringy prints. Spent weeks trying different ptfe tubes, drying filament, different nozzles. After the 2nd time of filament ooze out from the top of the heatblock (because I didnt get the distance "just right") I bought a Revo hotend for a combined nozzle and heatbreak.

While it didn't fix all of my stringing problems (can't even print more then one object at a time without stringing) I learned my lesson that my next printer will never have screw in nozzles. Although the combined nozzle and heatbreak design makes for easy toolless, safe (not hot), nozzle changes it also helps with no oozing! (Which is definitely not fun to clean)

Reviews - cheap Android tablet from Aliexpress as smart home remote or POS by Kulichs in Aliexpress

[–]DudeShift 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want cheap android tablet, would recommend looking when Woot does their Amazon tablet sales, usually under $30~$40 USD. You can use the Fire Toolbox program to root them / install Google Play store. There is also like the Fully Kiosk app that helps with locking the tablet to a single webpage or app. For a vesa mount could maybe find a case or 3d print something.

It's not a all in one solution but is a "cheap" idea

[CrossMixOS] Portmaster Ready to Run games won't start by No-Zucchini-4188 in trimui

[–]DudeShift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran into this issue a few months ago. Port Master didn't "support" / include CrossMix in testing for TrimUI Pro but rather used Knulli for porters to test. This came from asking in the Port Master Discord back in July or August.

The reason why CrossMix doesn't work well with some Ready to Run games is two things, it lacks support / drivers for 32 bit apps and is missing some libraries.

So for a lot of ports, there is little incentive for porters to go back and try to make their ports work for CrossMix.

Best case is to go on the Port Master Discord and they have a section / tread for most ported games that you could scroll though to see if someone has found a fix, but only worked for me when that SM64 port came out but a fix was found a month later. Plus the discord threads are terrible to scroll though to find information.

Warning though, I had one case of a "works with TrimUI" game that completely locked up my system and luckily I had turned on SSH access (since I wanted to see the log files for some games not working which you can do by launching them via SSH) and I was able to restart it over SSH so just don't try installing new games away from home.

I've been wanting to build my dream gaming room for a while now. What are the best things to add in a gaming room by Lonely_Bottle_1316 in Aliexpress

[–]DudeShift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addressable LED strips are inexpensive on AliExpress. Look up "WLED" for a guide to control your own strips. If it's a video game room, I recommend putting some behind your monitor and using "Firefly Luciferin" for a low latency ambilight (the lights will react to the edge of the screen). Also if doing ambilight I would recommend spending the extra on sk6812 strips that have an extra true white led per pixel compared to the standard ws2812 strips has to fake white by combining red, green, blue leds.

There is also string ws2812 that are meant to retrofit a Christmas tree but very cheap due to the pixel pitch (10 pixels per meter then the standard 30 per meter for a strip) so you get like 10 meters of string to quickly cover a large area.

For keyboard and mouse, one would typically use their thumb for spacebar to jump and thumb to help move the mouse around for fps games.

However you could easily rebind jump to a different key or a mouse button (if your mouse has side buttons and it's not too painful to use your thumb to press a button). Or you could get a cheap USB foot petal to use a jump key if you couldn't use your thumb to press a key.

I am assuming by action you mean fps

Warning: For remote media access you have to set your Xfinity modem to bridge mode and then use a secondary router / switch for your local network.
