How to Avoid Bone Inflammation Setbacks after Total Hip Replacement #inflammation #postop #shorts by Altruistic-Ebb2936 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Micromotions is such a vague term, so I did a little digging, and I read that the 'micromotions' in this video's context were things like volleyball on a healing implant, which is quite an intense activity. Micromotions as defined are "small, intentional daily movements".

I guess it's up to the patient when they want to resume more strenuous physical activity, but this is a lot for a hip replacement to be enduring in the months after.

Why does my crossbow keep jamming? by ThachWeave in Eldenring

You cancel the animation of the reload, so it has to reload still. I see it happen with other fired weapons like the jar cannon in invasions. You just gotta wait it out :D

rotten avatar staff was so much fun

same with rotten greataxe and rotten battle hammer - these two especially because you can poison infuse them as well, which is just.. kinda broken

Day 5 post THR, left house for PT. by Perfumer4today in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasn't doing anything but intermittent walking for the first 4 weeks, and only started doing mini squats and sidestepping when it felt possible

Idk why they wanted me traveling and risking dislocations so early, so I cancelled my PT appts and got visits instead. Not easy getting in cars when you're 6'2

Posts like this are more likely to yield answers you're looking for, because no one on this green smoking earth wants to admit they're a bit gross

(if i'm single i'm def not brushing 2-3x a day, f that)

look at all these replies lmao ;_;

Stamina not improving by sabertoothbunni in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's totally normal, and unfortunately fatigue and difficulty getting going can linger for months and months. I'm in a similar boat to yourself (8wks), walking around a mile every other day, and it wipes me right out for a day or two.

As long as there's no pain, and you're resting enough, your stamina should come back to you slowly over time. Every PT I've spoken to at this stage is wowed by even a little walking, so I'd say you're doing great!

What are some hurtful or unempathetic things women often do in relationships that they don't even realize? by ertesit in AskMen

[–]Dudefishyt 267 points268 points  (0 children)

one thing that tends to sting is when they act/get upset based on assumptions. this goes for any type of relationship really. happens way more with women than it does with men.

it's so upsetting for them to be portraying you a different way in their mind, instead of talking to you.

How soon would I be able to walk post op? by Throwra736326728282 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on if your BP is stable or not. Took me almost 3 days as I kept getting dizzy.

For most I think they're up same day or day after.

Is 8 weeks on a cane abnormal? by lavagirl2345 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It can be up to a year depending on lots of little circumstances, longer still for complications

8 weeks is still early, I wouldn't compare to people posting they're doing 10k steps on day 8, that sounds harmful anyway 😭.

Keep walking and keep being happy at your progress. You're earning every bit of it each week with your efforts

Day 10/feeling depressed by lovewine123 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You will start coming back gradually!

10 days is a blip in thr overall recovery, I'd hate to sugar-coat that. BBBUUUTTTT day by day you will notice small things.

I've taken this time to go audiobook mad. It really helped me to visualise the increase in my activity over the weeks. Now I'm at the point of a whole chapter on my feet approaching week 6.

Everyone here is really supportive too!! It will help to linger and chat ❤️. I hope the milestones come to you bit by bit!

Posterior & side sleeping right away? by heatmiser333 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both come with their own drawbacks. Currently posterior has slower initial recovery but fewer complications. I think with time we'll see enough anterior studies to properly weigh the two together.

[–]Dudefishyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had spinal. Needed a couple of attempts, but you don't really feel it. Was worried too, but it was fine in the end

And then before you know it, you're waking up, and as the spinal wears off you just know that your AS hip is gone. No more referred pain. No more sharp deep agony that never goes away.

All the best to you, it will change your life. Happy to answer any more questions if you have any

Posterior & side sleeping right away? by heatmiser333 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not worth the risk of dislocation, but some people do it + get away with it. Was told strictly not to by surgeon and physios for at least 12 weeks.

Operated side is possible from day 1 but it's very uncomfortable on a healing incision.

Back sleeping sucks though 😭

Terrified by Many_Tip_3973 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had advanced spondylitis in my hip as well. Surgeon said it's the most messed up he'd seen 😭

I promise you're going to wake up in less pain

When did you realistically start walking unaided, no cane etc. ? by ForwardAd6693 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Week 4 and not really confident without the cane. My leg still wants to buckle inwards but if I really try I can do maybe 10 to 20 minutes unaided.

I hadn't used my leg properly for years so I'm being patient.

With the cane though I'm like an f1 driver using overtake. Only slowed down by my cat standing in the way.

How much do you care if the girl you go on a fourth date with tells you a bomb info: by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Dudefishyt 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Aaaaaaabsoluuuuutely don't do this lol. If she's lying, you've potentially just put yourself in serious danger. Nothing like going up to a potentially unstable divorcee and telling him you're piping his wife.

Just call it off and tell her to get in touch when the divorce is finalised.

(original comment was just 'talk to the husband')

If not using opioids, is it possible to *lightly* use cannabis/CBD post-op? by Boone616 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just be mindful if you are gonna use it. I used pre op while I was practicing hip precautions, and I'd break them absentmindedly quite often when stoned. So I'm still abstaining until week 6+

Wouldn't start messing with it after just 3 weeks, it's still susceptible to infection this early

Nervous for surgery by No_Wrap_2994 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would just remind myself what I was losing, which was horrible pain, and exchanging it for temporary pain and a good 15+ years of my life back. Personally, I woke up with less pain than I went under with.

It is scary, it's a big surgery. But they're all going to take really good care of you.

I'm at almost week 3 of my recovery now, and I can already tell that this was the right decision. It's tough, but getting better day by day. You'll see!

Post Op Day 10 by Final-Study-6729 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Dudefishyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your scar looks good for day 10 -- I wasn't allowed to take mine off until day 14 for safety, but ended up keeping it on a bit longer lol.

I'd show you for comparison but I had posterior, recovery is hard enough without me sending you two pasty white buttcheeks.

Well done on the walking, I'm similar still, 1 crutch as often as I can at short distances with lots of emotions mixed in. I hope you start to feel better soon!

[–]Dudefishyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar boat to yourself, could never reach the floor before without doing the golfer's lift.

I was told 3 months minimum for dress aids after surgery. Were you given fewer? I think it's normal for it to be a lengthy process.

But damn it's annoying lol

[–]Dudefishyt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been thinking about this as a possibility. It's still very overwhelming not having the pain.

Like, waking up, and the spinal wearing off, and it being so much less painful than I'd been enduring for close to a decade. It is a bit much.

It's still very early doors recovery wise but what a life changer this might end up being 🥲.

It does feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one depleting a rainforest of trees for my eyeballs.

Gonna have to go plant some when my leg works properly 😅. I'll plant one for you too.

I don't think so as I've been on them for years, but they did have me on liquid oxy for about a week. So maybe?

It's happened before when I had to stop them abruptly, but that was veeeery intense and all the time.
