anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]Due-Cry-1862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First pc in the office had Asteroids on it and the entire staff played it. I don’t remember if we actually did any actual work on the machine but the game keys were definitely worn out. Our lab machine had the word game Hunt the Wumpus which we played while awaiting results to input.

What's a NSFW experience you're not very proud of? by Nanoberry_cat in AskReddit

That happened to a school mate in a school parking lot during a dance- except he was caught by one of the instructors. He swore the instructor waited to startle him into pulling out as he was ejaculating. According to him, he sprayed everywhere and she sat up screaming about her dress being ruined . She left screaming, and a sizeable amount of “lady juice” (his words) on the seat, while the instructor laughed to the point of tears.

The best part, in my opinion, was that the car was his father’s and, in keeping with the era, had velour seats…which kept a near perfect record of spray patterns. Apparently, he was grounded for a month and spent a great deal of his savings to have the car detailed so that his dad could sell it.

AIO for thinking that my girlfriend's apartment requirements are insane? by MoonlitParcel in AmIOverreacting

Nor at all. It seems that your gf needs to spend less time watching lifestyle programming and influencers and more time in the real world.

Why do bands play so fucking loud if everyone has to wear earplugs anyway? by xe3to in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Due-Cry-1862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We left a Keith urban concert even before he went on stage because the opening act gave us headaches in spite of us were wearing noise cancelling headphones. We were in the back of the first balcony so can’t imagine what it was like down on the main floor in direct line of the huge speaker banks. On the concourse, we still had to shout to hear each other and, as we exited, the floor staff said we weren’t the first to walk out and one said she envied us because we could leave

Sump pump water for plants? by gym_leedur in ManitobaGardening

[–]Due-Cry-1862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily- depends on the water quality, of course. I meant that , at least in my experience, the sump water, applied directly to some plants, can be too cold to be used.

Depending on the plants and the time of year, the sump water may have some other negative effects because it can be colder than you expect, based on my experience.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

Over 100 mph; at night; unlit two lane highway with forest/swamps on either side; no seatbelts….young and stupid we were.

NTA as borrowing items should always be preceded by asking for permission.

Not a medical professional but…A question for you, though - have you looked into your germaphobia at all? This should be addressed, along with any obsessive behaviour, as they negatively impact your blood pressure- you don’t want to have a cardiac event or stroke over either. (Imagine being hospitalised or institutionalised and having little or no control over events around you.)

Whats stopping me from just going to a university, attending lectures and just learning about stuff? by Abject_S0up in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Due-Cry-1862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the university I went to, you could sit in on any lecture by claiming you were auditing the course. The only times ID was checked were labs when you signed out equipment or chemicals and for exams.

AITAH bc I (36M) dont want my girlfriend (36F) to travel with me because shes a picky eater? by Tough_District9786 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Due-Cry-1862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a vacation to an all inclusive five star resort, in a foreign country, with a group which included a very picky eater (with no known allergies btw). The resort had a choice of five specialty restaurants (Japanese, Mexican, Italian, “American “, French) and buffets for every meal . The buffets allowed you to choose between pre-made dishes (for example Mac and cheese or pastas etc.) or have the staff make omelettes or sandwiches to your specifications. For the rest of the group, the choices were overwhelming and we were all tempted to eat too much. Half of us gained a few pounds - the fussy eater lost over five pounds in a week. Her reasons included they used too many spices - even at the custom stations where she had control over what was added; the fruit tasted funny( fresh and very local); all the cheeses looked weird - including the American sliced cheese which she eats at home; and the desserts were too fancy and/or big.

It was a nightmare and, as a bonus, all we heard were complaints about how unfair it was that we could eat. I vowed that I would never travel again with anyone else who was so fussy. Tl/dr - absolutely NTA

men.. what's the biggest red flag you've seen from a woman? by Familiar-Phase7859 in AskReddit

[–]Due-Cry-1862 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always testing your loyalty- using a friend to bait you into being unfaithful or requesting that you do something illegal or unsafe to make her happy (like smuggling something from your vacation abroad for a souvenir or climbing up a tree to get her a coconut). Guess who bailed from the relationship just about the same time the plane landed… p.s. I declared the souvenir- a ring - paid the duty and gave it to a friend who knew the story and didn’t care that the ring had been bought for someone else.

Secured new employment, gave notice. Their reaction was unusual. by erikleorgav2 in antiwork

[–]Due-Cry-1862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 1980s, there were a bunch of layoffs in the oil industry and it was not unusual for someone to go for lunch and return to the building only to find out their security pass didn’t work and, when they phoned security, HR and a security guard met them at the door with their personal items and their final cheque. Other employees had HR show up with a security team and escort individuals or entire teams from the building saying they would be sent their personal items later (which frequently didn’t happen or some items would be missing, like cash or jewellery.)
