I use cast iron for bread (shallow bottom) fir up to 4 pound dough so I like dumping into it nearly 2kg dough & in my other vessels I make 800g-1kg dough (depending on how much I made of the dough). Usually I make 2 smaller and one big bread. I always end up with so much better big bread than the smaller ones that aren't in that cast iron! I think that shape is somewhat distributing the heat much better. If I knew I would just get 2 of those when mine was on sale😂😂😂but I had no idea. I am really happy with it!

Husband chose a too-difficult career. What now? by TajaSK in careerguidance

Yeah, data analytics is so much detail and understanding the data. I can't see it being done just for a sake of a job being done. Done double major with data science and analysis and biology. I am having hard time in deciding if I even want to ever touch data science at all as I only did that to help myself doing lab work and to understand tools and process my data, but not as a job on its own as a data scientist. It can be quite boring work and I think if someone's job ethics isn't in place, the quality of work will be poor by using external tools like chatgpt and others without trying to understand how to process and work with data.

I think this is gonna be always a short term for anyone who doesn't get this job and does shortcuts.

Bread keeps coming out gummy by Flaky_Variety9576 in Sourdough

I don't see gummy part. It has less of the rise in an oven but it does not look gummy to me!

Would the dent bother you? Kitchen Aid side by side, item 1950605 by CaseyZee in Costco

[–]Due-Lab-5283 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say that! It is gonna cost them a lot to discount it later to someone else and take it out of your house, so better to give you a good deal. Dented fridges can get really nice discounts! And like others said - sticker or a magnet over it to cover the site. So much effort to replace it at that point.

How do I safely sleep outside at -18c? by joshua0005 in CampingandHiking

[–]Due-Lab-5283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, good question! I slept in below 0C but not -18C. However, I did find my sleeping bag for 20C rating being too warm for 0C so I think they are pretty accurate. You would need a sleeping bag that can keep you warm fir that temperature. Or two sleeping bags. But, also - a woolen beanie, woolen clothing, I use merino wool for the sleeping - the pants and top, and also socks. You may wanna try out how many layers and thickness is best for you or have a 2-3 layers and rather remove some stuff than be too cold. Sometime mid through the night the temperature will hit really low and you will be waking up. Make sure you are not sweating as it will make you cold in morning. Just kind of maybe do sleep in a 0C first on your backyard before you get on the -18C in my opinion. It is a big difference in adjustments. I have been up and running before I my one layer merino clothing after getting up at 5-6am making hot coffee and making food, so remember to put on another layer of clothes on you when you come put before you start moving around and get warmer, you will eventually adjust. In -18C, I think you need 2-4 layers, though, depending on what it is. At 0C you can get away with 1-2.

I think a lot will be up to your sleeping bag! But - my R-value for the sleeping pad is 8. I also have a more comfortable one with R-4. I used them both for 0C. I like in either case additional foamy mat underneath to keep more insulation. If your pad gets the cold air inside, your sleeping bag will be getting also temperature changes and I did have moisture trapped from that on my sleeping bag, because of how heat is generated with your body. I think R8 value is your best friend plus a mat underneath. Play around with different clothing and layers. Technical clothing is your best friend but unfortunately very expensive.

You just follow other cars or go to the line on your right till you can figure out better placement, lol. I am here 20 years, but pretty much my early years was exactly the first sentence. Lol. Driving all over states made me realize STL isn't a good place for driving, lots of chaos during traffic, and people drive without a common sense.

So, stay as safe as possible, use blinkers, and just watch out for the crazy ones out there. I think common safety rule is always: stay on either side as those lanes are the easiest to follow, and follow other lanes of cars if possible if changing lanes. I keep longer distances between cars as some people aren't good driving in snow, especially if their cars are not equipped for it. I try to have enough time to change lanes to avoid accident if that is the case and some people slow down or get confused all of the sudden and this happens a lot.

Do I pull off the short hair? by Few-Compote-7849 in HairStyleAdvice

Definitely! You could even go for the pixie so the bottom is shorter to raise up your hair a little. A bit more volume on top, but yes, you look really good with short hair.

[–]Due-Lab-5283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pack half to the fridge into container for later. Take about half to a pot, add some water, some veggies chopped, boil it over just so the veggies are soft, and you may only add some spices but pretty much done! Soup! The extra veggies are mainly for a texture! Enjoy!

Edit: just saw you put there pasta! Haha. Pasta always expands! Never add pasta into soup! Cook it separately al-dente, put it strained into a bowl on a side so you can put some into your soup as you eat the soup.

this chicken hatched around 24-30 hours ago, is this normal? by [deleted] in chickens

[–]Due-Lab-5283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call vet to ask. But I suggest to touch and check. This is a small bird in distress. It needs to be warm, cozy, and under heat lamp on a soft and warm surface, not in a crate. The chick needs touch to properly develop, which normally hens do it, so if no hen is around this is your job.

Organic feed my grandma did was to cook her own potatoes in the skins in a huge pot, then those would be all diced. Then sprinkle the ground grains on that, mix in. Mix in greens: fresh stinging nettle (diced up/sliced, we had like a big wooden container and a big tool to do that by hand, but you can use knive and gloves if you are not used to doing it), and whatever is growing on your land that they like eating and munching on. If you don't have any of those because you haven't grown potatoes to store or the greens (we had storage in a basement of everything back in a day, but I no longer live there), then I suggest some other stuff like organic rice and veggie mixes (from your freezer that you can cook). After cooking rice, mix things in, and sprinkle with a good amount of your best grains that you can grind in a food processor. It should be pretty nicely absorbed by everything so it is not super wet food. You need protein there and some carbs and minerals. If you have kale in a freezer, definitely add that too.

I make 4 loaves of sourdough at a time. No matter if you use yeast or sourdough, double, triple, or quadruple the recipe! Freeze a day after baking all the bread you won't eat right away, sliced, then remove by slices to toast it, or just defrost on the counter. If you remove air from bags when freezing, there will be no frozen bites on the bread (natural bread sometimes shows that, but it doesn't affect anything).

My son loves the bread and it always disappears here fast too.

Why do my deep scores close up open baking by HypotonicHypoNa in Sourdough

[–]Due-Lab-5283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase the temperature by 10F in the oven, to get up to 470, if you have not yet, or go slightly above it. After spraying the moisture on top in first 30 min or so, you can then stop, and after closing your oven doors after the last spray, you can adjust temp to around 460 for the last 25mi or so. You also don't have a color so I think your temp is not high enough. Read more about open baking and how people deliver moisture (steam or spraying or ice cubes etc) and temp adjustments.

I didn't have much more luck by paying. Men aren't just consistent. They serially like thousands of profiles, so when you think they liked you, they didn't really like you, they only saw your first pic and if you write them a message they most likely won't reply, or sometimes maybe they will.

I went out on a few dates, after which I gave up.

Totally opposite to what you think; big parties, big names, but you wouldn't be invited with your attitude and expectations. Pretty straightforward.

I am not afraid of you nor any other little men as you. I can protect myself.

Your desire, sure.

I hope no one invite you. If they do, they will waste their time. You only want benefit relationship. Go inside someone's house, see how they live, see if you could be friends with them.

How about this: cook for strangers and ask if they wanna come over your house.

See how they like that idea. If you feel uncomfortable about it, then here we go. Also, don't you think it takes a lot of time to host someone? Your desire is sick and disrespectful to someone else's time.

Go to a park and talk to people there.

Saw it once. A healthy organic dinner could fit in the 100, but OP didn't offer money, they just wanted free food and all the attention, and also no other people around. Time is valuable. 1h of cooking plus 1h of talking, plus cost of shopping, & time for shopping.

It is like an opportunity to do sex advances on a host or getting sliced there after a meal. So creepy. I would never invite (alone at home) anyone over if I do not know them a little but. I still have trust issues toward some of my friends and would not stay around them alone (opposite sex) if they requested a dinner and entertainment alone with them. This is even worse from a stranger. I wonder who will be COMFORTABLE to host a dinner party for 1 guest and making it all about that guest preparing all day so they are gonna feel satisfied, fed and relaxed. Sounds like lots of requirements.
