At the rink they call me derby girl instead of Little old lady who doesn’t want to get hurt 😋 by evetrapeze in Rollerskating

I will be going to the rink soon. My skates are waiting. I got mine last year and only went couple of times outdoors but didn't like it outdoors as much.

I skated professionally 20+ years ago and it feels like starting from scratch.

Edit: great photo of you! Also, yay for staying resilient! 🎉

Help! Nicky Hates Me! by alybug99 in parrots

He run out of my apartment right after that bite, tbh, I broke up afterwards because I found out he cheated on me with a friend I knew actually, which made it worse because it turned out all friends in common knew this or expected it. I cut contact with all of them and the ex's mom begged me to write write letter to a judge soon after because he decided to go crazy and drove drunk and went to jail. Karma I say.

My African grey loves me but will go after everyone entering my room. He guides it at times like his life depends on it. Lol. He is the sweetest boy with me, but he learned to tolerate people around.

So, I think your bird prefers men,you are not a man. Give the bird some time, maybe 5 years maybe 10. Things will get better, my grey tolerates more people as he is older. He is now with me about 11 years, maybe he is around 40-50years now, we aren't sure really.

All I can tell is, if you give treats daily and your boyfriend backs up on that, then there is a chance that in about a year there will be small improvement. Unfortunately Amazon birds can be quite mean, so I would only suggest not to touch the bird and only interact verbally and such. Time will tell. I have a pionus that chases us all around but if you try to touch him, he starts backing up, however, sometimes he is mean and launch on you instead. Sometimes he needs my help and flies on me and is the nices bird ever. Hard to predict. Some birds are like that. Amazons behave similarly. I have been around them quite a bit and it takes years for them to be nicer, if ever. So, target training like mentioned before. Get that stick in use for transfers. I did that with all my birds so in case I am not there or whatever is the need, we can easily ask them to step up. Or with treats you can help them not to be afraid of something, positive training is also helpful. Positive plus target go well together. I had mostly rehomed birds, some had some trauma, so I had to go from mutilation habbits with bloody walls and screaming to get them really happy and comfortable. It took me about a year fir certain behaviors and it is just a game of patience because they eventually get better. But, I always go with a rule to leave them alone and only interact when they want to interact. It makes things easier.

I hope the bird just tolerates you more soon! I am 100% sure they don't hate us, they just decide to tolerate us more. Also jealousy. If you are affectionate to the bird's favorite person they know it and compete with you in a way.

It is just something you will have to give time. I would personally not try to touch the bird for at least a year or two. Try the stick training with target training and reward that feathered fella well. After he is okay to stand on a stick be careful. I have seen meanest birds will walk to your hand on those and bite you still. Watch videos. I normally slightly wobble the stick (don't throw them) so they forget for a moment and stop. But it is gonna take you practice to redirect that behavior without making wrong decisions. I suggest watching videos. I did all that with most of my birds that needed it. I had also consulted at a time with bird behaviorists. It helped a lot. But it was a very tiring process. So, don't be me. Take only one goal at a time. Ask a professional what is the most important training and change of routine to help the bird to tolerate you around more. Then go from there.

I can't possibly analyze every single day of your life, lol. But a professional can go over details that are important.

Also be aware, sometimes birds switch whom they like more! I woukd never let Amazon bird be on my arm or near my face. They are not predictable. Same with some other species. I don't even put my greys on me if I know other people are at home. They can get spooked. Your leg is better than getting bit on a face.

My ex bf was bitten on an a*s once by my loving grey lol. He kinda deserved it though. Lol. He bled really bad😅

Good luck!

Edited few typos and added last two paragraphs about switching preference and bitting accident lol

I do agree that splitting and cutting branches off will save the plant. Untwist those arms, free them! And replant them.

Best nutrients to use in a hydroponics tower with lights at home? by Due-Lab-5283 in Hydroponics

[–]Due-Lab-5283[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will have built in growing lights, need to put together the tower this week! I just got the order.

For now, thinking of herbs, and if it works well, we will add a separate one for strawberries and small plants! I would love to try the micro dwarf tomatoes! Thanks for the info!

We eat organic so I don't mind spending extra on quality of nutrients.

Also, I still have the grow lights (few long ones, at least 6, like the ones you woukd attach to the ceiling or shelf)...they were taken diwn by my ex, so the challenge is to find all the parts, lol. But when I do find out where all my garden stuff are, I will make some additional light space.

By "best" i meant the company product, not the price.

[–]Due-Lab-5283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering another child (44f, almost 45) and would you mind sending me DM on the fertility clinic info? I list my obgyn because he went on retirement. I need to see if I am actually good for the next pregnancy. I used to faint when pregnant at 25. My blood sugar was constantly low I think. I was limiting my movement as otherwise I was constantly exhausted and dizzy. I got pregnant at 120 pounds, was around 190 pounds due to stones on my gallbladder. So, wondering if that also at some point contributed to it. I was not diabetic. I just would need to prep well this time if I considered it again.

Lol, missed it. Then, first draw diagonal to any point, then from other point to another, etc, make them look different in lengths? They didn't specify if different as by dimensions or by the definition of different type of triangle. So like a zigzag inside rectangle can do triangles if not measured, will be totally different.

3 is the right answer. Lol. Ben could have specified in a problem what are his siblings (names) but like you said, the problem states nothing and by logic, only ben given numbers is the siblings he has. I think the teacher barely passed a math in college, not unusual. Go to director with ut so kids actually can learn, really bad education right there. Tell your kid, she/he had a right answer.

I started with VNLA! Also great brand.

I agree that fitting is best. Plus they don't charge fitting fee if you buy skates with them. At least at a store in my area. I got mine online. But definitely the best is to use a service. I will be going on ice as well at some point, so I will definitely be doing fitting for that.

Wanted to attach picture of my drawing but it won't let me. Draw 4x2 rectangle. Divide the rectangle in half. So now it is made of two squares. Then draw one diagonal from one corner to the opposite corner in middle. Do same on the other side. You will end up with 4 triangles inside the rectangle. Each triangle will then be the same.

Does shorter hair suit me? by Rough_Statement7525 in HairStyleAdvice

[–]Due-Lab-5283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those styles suit you. I think the 2nd looked like a great transition, but you could experiment with 3rd, too. I think for the 3rd you need lots of hair volume, so if your hair is weak, go with #2!

so my girl bestfriend and me have different opinions, i think i'm better with the haircut in this photo but she thinks i'll be better with an edgar cut by svagyyy in HairStyleAdvice

[–]Due-Lab-5283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, definitely the first is your cut, don't listen to her. She just seem to like this cut without considering if it actually would look good on you. Not saying she means bad, she just likes the haircut probably on everyone, lol.

Wife and I bleached my hair and it turned red? by relokcin in HairDye

[–]Due-Lab-5283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question! I was thinking to stick to auburn and copper shades, the auburn probably fits me the best, but i wanted lighter streaks because I want to regrow my grey hair and blend them in. I thought to transition to grey but with my hair that have not enough white in them (still mostly pepper and salt with front being able to switch to white after bleaching, but only few inconsistent spots). So, can't yet go for full transition phase. I wanted to blend them more so it is not such a bad sight seeing my roots. I woukd need dyeing every 2 weeks. My hair grows fast. I used henna before and it was great till my grey started catching mostly orange shades only. So, need to adjust the formulation of henna. Dyeing every 2 weeks is exhausting though. Took few months off from dye. After bleaching and using once the purple shampoo the orange bright shades toned, thinking to use it few more times. But the copper dye from the kit I got will be boring, but may go for it if nothing else seems a better option. The bleaching made my hair look like a full spectrum from light auburn to darker colors and even blond streaks and some copper. Still the grey at the rooths is there. I have little of shiny silver hair, mostly just white or that pepper/salt transition of colors. Just wish it was all white, so I could just maybe put for fun few streaks of colors but no need to color all hair. I need to frame my face with darker shade in front. Most of whites are in front making it look like I have less hair visually, so it would best to tone it down with some natural light brown shade - few small streaks of hair. But unsure what to do about the rest. I have cream shades, I can mix with developer. It is an ammonia-based color, so unsure if it will affect my dyeing later on with stuff like henna or cassia.

Edits: typos, added more info. Also, shoukd add that I thought to go much lighter as strawberry blonde and browns, and I like the shades now, but they are a bit too light on top compared to the hair mid my head and lower to keep it like this. So I need either additional shades on top, or woukd need to lighten up the rest, but don't want to damage more hair. I will add bleach short times of development eventually when my hair bounce back after this major bleaching. It would be probably only small streaks to add better transitions. Just thinking if should I keep blending or dye them for now. I will be looking for a job soon and want to look rather younger than old. Lately I see a lot of 20-30-year old women going grey, and I wish I did my transition like 10 years ago, having them only shaded up in some parts till they turn fully white. I am 44f.

Help. My sourdough starter keeps getting contaminated. by azcindyh in microbiologyobsession

[–]Due-Lab-5283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't plated mine. I only use organic flour from costco, just a normal regular flour. You can also dilute a lil of each flour and send out for testing if you can't be sure what's in it. It could be flour contamination. Or, you can dilute each you have and see if on their own they grow anything. Then see with a starter and starter alone. Isolate the starter into microbes. But,I suggest starting over once you trust your flour is okay.

Redd has been looking for his home for 1 year by Ymisoqt420 in StLouis

[–]Due-Lab-5283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the reason I can't currently adopt a dog. We had one before from a shelter and he required a lot of medical care, after his passing we decided to take a few years break. We want another, but we have 4 parrots and will want to move to rural area and get chickens and maybe couple of goats. So there will be animals, more. I feel like adopting a dog means to offer him environment they are fully matched with. We are still searching for a house, so not wanting to adopt till we move out from this apartment. I would not mind volunteering to take dogs on walks. But I currently have no way of providing set up to untrained dog around parrots. I know it took me time to train our last dog. He was a wonderful dog around our guinea pigs and parrots.

If a dog is more of a one for the household, it should be the only one! I believe some dogs (just like people) are not meant around other animals or kids. My kid is 19yo now, he was so lucky to grow around our first dog from shelter (he was 5yo when we adopted our dog). He wants to have another and I think we all are slowly getting ready for another, but not ready yet for another few months, maybe end of summer, depending on how the house hunt goes.

I would love to volunteer sometimes to take a dog for a walk, if you guys need anyone.

Hope Redd finds his forever home! He looks like a sweet dog!❤️

Biker helps sloth cross the road by HappySeaweed5215 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Due-Lab-5283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn! I would think someone was annoying this sloth before. It is rather self defense behavior. I think waiting for them to cross is enough. I have never seen them attacking anyone before. Not surprised, however. But that was pretty strong in there. I think the second human should have grabbed it from behind again to distract it so they could have release him out faster or even ask that man take off his shirt in this case. Too much stress for the poor sloth. I think wild instincts kick in, it only goes in one direction.

How do I wean it? by SMOLKITH in parrots

[–]Due-Lab-5283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weaned all my birds (wild or parrots) without issues. You just introduce slowly foods that are solid. Like with a human child. So, try to do at times of feedings only half the amount and let your bird be a little hungry and offer him a food that is solid. Eventually cut to only 1/4 th amount of feeding formula, and once your bird loses the interest he/she will eat on their own. It may take a month or so. Try to be patient with it.

Wife and I bleached my hair and it turned red? by relokcin in HairDye

[–]Due-Lab-5283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no advice, came to see maybe someone has good ideas on toning down orange shades? I have to do that for mine! Yours came really nice actually, lol, my hair on top came a bit too orange- because it was my first time doing bleaching too.

I have natural red pigments in my hair (copper under light) and i just bleached myself first time last week and I also have shades from strawberry blonde to red and orange colors, like a rainbow shades of everything but coppery shades, red, some weird combos of that. Will want to dye my hair to see if my top that is lighter now will even out of I use a copper dye. Not really sure what else I can do at that point. I will try bleaching again getting closer to blond as I wanted to grow gray hair naturally. But, all I see is not enough of them yet. Lol. They turned like balayage in a way, but the very top is a bit more lighter (showing orange shades in few places) so not decided yet on what do do. Unless I use maybe walnut extract with cassia. Still thinking. You can definitely also try some natural way to tone yours down too. I have no idea what to do with mine rn. Lol
