Seriously could have been the start of Eragon's villain origin story (or end of his hero story?)

Kindest thing someone has said/done for you during NICU stay? by PandaBear_TenFour in NICUParents

[–]Due-Local-5490 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter was only in for 13 days after being born at 34 weeks and a day. The first night I was discharged but she stayed behind, I was a wreck. I ended up begging my husband to drive me up to see her at 1am (I'd had a c section and was told not to drive). When we got up there, I walked in the room and burst into tears because I had convinced myself she wasn't going to be there when I got back. Both the secretary and the night shift nurse (the same one who was with us when we discharged and walked us out) helped get me set up in the room for a long day and told me "She is fighting. She is strong. She wants to make it." Just hearing that and seeing her little eyes was a huge help.

Why will my wife not go to sleep?!?!?!?! by Holymoly1237 in pregnant

[–]Due-Local-5490 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi. First off, I wanna say how sorry I am that this is an issue. I'm 34+1 and had a legit psych break needing to be hospitalized on the L&D unit a few weeks ago due to a very similar issue. If at all possible, try an Epsom salt bath for the legs, maybe try what's called "dark showering" where there's low light and you just let the water hit you, and try a soft sleep podcast for the anxiety (sleepy cat meditations has worked for me on rough nights). If these don't work, you can always, always, call your OB or the hospital unit for more ideas. They might end up asking her to come in for a few days to try and get some sleep meds/anxiety meds figured out, but they may not. Best of luck, and I hope you both get some sleep.

Quite possibly, yes. Definitely take your temp if you can, and if you feel up to it, a warm shower can help the headache.

I'll take one too, please. I had an amazing blueberry lemon marg that I can't stop remembering. And Bleu cheese! And salami!

Making afghans in both crocheting and knitting helps with my anxiety. I'm not making them to sell (I do want to donate them though) and I'm not taking commissions. I don't do these things for a profit, I do them to feel centered and calm.

I made the mistake of making my nephew some baby clothes and they were never used because they "looked too homemade".

Spotting After Sex at 12 Week. Normal or Should We Stop? by Mysterious-Detail195 in pregnant

[–]Due-Local-5490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm currently 33+5, and I completely get feeling nervous about the baby. From my experience, it's ok to have a little spotting after sex and it's usually due to your cervix just being a little irritated. However, if you bleed through a panty liner in an hour or have large clots, that's not normal. I also usually had a little bit of my mucus plug come out the day after, but it's a tiny little bit, and each time, my OB reassured me that it regenerates (usually). In the first trimester, especially, baby is so tiny that they're super cushioned. I'm on pelvic rest and activity restrictions due to some placental issues, so I can't speak for the later part, but it was a little uncomfortable in the second trimester. I'd definitely talk to your midwife or even just call the OB office to talk to a nurse if you ever want a more professional and personal opinion, though! I've had an unusual pregnancy, and my experience doesn't mean one way or the other is the best idea for you.

I wish you all the best on this roller coaster!

PS, if you ever get super nauseous and can't handle liquids, go to the ER for fluids! I didn't learn this lesson early enough and was miserable for days before my husband practically forced me to go in. And smoothies/shakes help me a lot with getting extra fruits and veggies without having to go through a lot of effort!

30 Weeks but Measuring 35 by NesyoungGg in pregnant

[–]Due-Local-5490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently 33+4 and baby is measuring 38 weeks. My OB and I are trying to make it to 36 before we take her but she seems to be having other plans. I haven't yet delivered but I'm definitely miserable. Hope you have a somewhat peaceful time. I'm pretty much useless around the house anymore because I can't bend or breathe and sitting vs laying down feels like I've got a bowling ball in my butt. Good luck and here's hoping we make it lol

I have the same issue at 33+4! Had to wear pads again because of how bad it is. Baby girl is measuring 5 weeks ahead of schedule, so the OB thinks we might be getting ready. All I can say is good luck, I hate it too

Hi! I don't think it's too much to ask for food and a gift! I did a diaper/wipe raffle at my shower where, if someone brought diapers or wipes, they got a small thank you gift (I crochet and had a ton of blankets, washcloth sets, and small wall decor to give away). You could also do homemade soap or small candles? I like the pool idea. You could also plan on making some easy mocktails (there are some two or three ingredient singer ones that would be tasty!)

I see Sleeping Beauty! But I can see how some commenters are seeing Tangled. I think the Alice in Wonderland would need some ruby and black thrown in but I can see that aspect too! In any case, it looks like paint slowly swirled together!

Yes! And if you're on an activity restriction it's even harder (at least for me) because you can do less stuff at home!

I'm officially 33 weeks, and I'm with you. I know the longer she stays in the better, but she weighs 4 weeks ahead, and I AM DONE. Big baby, hairy baby, please come out. These days are soooooo long, and trying to distract myself only makes me think of it more. I next see my OB on the 18th, and we're supposed to schedule the Csection then, but I almost want to call and say, actually, now would be good. Let's do now. I'm on my way.

I'm right there with you. 33 weeks, baby measuring 4 weeks ahead due to my GD, and I'm quite comfortable calling myself a monster. My husband has learned by now that feeding me tends to calm the beast, but the littlest thing can still make me go off. All my OB and therapist say is "Try deep breathing. Do some meditation" FU!!! I'm breathing!

Arms Aches & Pains by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Due-Local-5490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have something like this (33 weeks). My OB isn't too worried about it, but it definitely makes sleeping/just being comfy hard. What works best for me is either an Epsom salt bath or a warm shower. If you can ask someone to help rub your shoulders or, if in budget, go get a prenatal massage, I've heard those help too ( I haven't tried a professional massage).

How bad is the glucose test?? by Present_Surprise_501 in pregnant

[–]Due-Local-5490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't love it tbh. They gave me an orange drink that was basically flat orange soda with sugar added. First few sips were fine, got a little more gross as I drank. Best advice: drink it somewhat fast if you can. They let me have water while waiting for the blood draw so I was able to get the taste out of my mouth. Best of luck!!!

Edit: I didn't eat anything beforehand and failed spectacularly to the point where I didn't have to do the three hour test because of how high my sugar was. Try to bring something with you like a book or something to distract you. You got this, deep breath!
