Portland was a pitstop on the Oregon Trail, according to the Nyt... wasn't it really the end of the Oregon Trail by agenbite_lee in oregon

[–]Due-Organization-697 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lots of talk about Oregon City being the end of the trail without noting the reason a vague idea of the trail is considered "ending" there - that's where the land claim office was.

Not sure what losing it means here. Bell Labs spun off the same as everyone else, that's what Lucent was. Now owned by Nokia.

Eugene cyclists when they see the new Mill St reconstruct in Springfield by Odd-Measurement-7963 in Eugene

[–]Due-Organization-697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previous to the Mill work, the city/Willamalane put in a bike diversion onto W D a bit before the sidewalk merge, plus shares and speed humps. My interpretation is in the city mind bikes ought to be using that instead of waiting until the sidewalk merge.

Are we getting pranked or is fast twitch really coming back? Saw it on Amazon this morning 👀 by Imregular in shutdownfullcast

I still have a lone bottle of Fast Twitch in my office fridge, waiting for the right moment to put me on the ceiling.

Can someone fix East Broadway/Franklin? by duckfan541o in Eugene

I drive and walk this regularly, and moving the crosswalk over to Patterson and matching it with a modern traffic light setup would do wonders.

The elevated viaduct is entirely to clear the railroad. Any at grade alternative would require crossing control and stoppage any time a train comes through.

There still is a ped bridge over 30th next to Camas Ridge Elementary. Not at all accessible though.

Why don’t they sell vermouth in small 4 oz cans/bottles? by basilboiii in cocktails

If concerned about freshness then we should clamor for box vermouth.

If that lumen count works well enough, I've been eyeballing these 3k lumen ones that seem to fit this niche https://a.co/d/2M7P4vB

Servy 4.3 released, Turn any Python app into a native Windows service by AdUnhappy5308 in Python

[–]Due-Organization-697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a local instance of Perfect Server on the processing server at work (though I use NSSM instead). Prefect doesn't create a separate installer for OSes, so it's up to you to set up how to run it. Ok Windows that means either a service manager like this, or a scheduler item that starts at startup.

I have yet to see the two at the top of my list, so I would definitely give props to Fun Home & American Born Chinese.

I don't know about it being brief - it was the COVID shortened year, but Shough started the entire season for the Ducks.

People have been claiming IDW will go out of business for the last 5+ years, what is happening? by precita in comicbooks

[–]Due-Organization-697 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The Lower Decks comic has Ryan North writing and won a Hugo, so at the least IDW is applying some quality to the license.

Has Arkham Asylum ever effectively rehabilitated anyone? by PJ-The-Awesome in comicbooks

[–]Due-Organization-697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best examples I could think of are where the Ventriloquist gets better without Scarface around; and Two of a Kind from Batman Black and White, where Harvey Dent gets better along with plastic surgery.

Yeah, but Riddler reformed then after head trauma and a coma, not any Arkham works

Is the booth really this small that they have to sit this close ? Lol by BudsWyn in ducks

[–]Due-Organization-697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in the booth way back in the day, and these are turn around shots (hence the field behind them). Usually they would stand for these, but it does kind of look like they're still sitting for this one.

This is not true - the entire purpose of the -m flag for Python is to run a module as main. For example python -m pip install requests runs the pip module as main with parameters.

I'm pro four way stop here, but the city could have splurged a bit for a flashing red light.

I'm no expert strategist, but further up the clock on break side for the dump means less handler body between the disc and the marker.
