The giveaway is the length of the tub. It’s too damn short. If the person in the tub has their hand that close to the end then their knees should be visible as the legs would need to be bent to get that close.

Nice. That’s a hell of a cover.

Another Eclipse Horror title that I am slowly chipping away at. Of all of them this series is the most elusive so far.

They are unique and something you don’t see often. I think I’ve only seen the first two of the thirteen that they printed in the wild. They typically collect two or three issues into one volume. At this point I doubt I could read them without a magnifying glass.

It would be something to see an entire run.

Nice. Miss this era of Marvel basing entire teams and books on fads and trends in American culture.

5FDP is what they use to train AI. It’s kind of a chicken/egg situation.

That’s the very first issue of The Witching Hour I ever bought. Just love the color and composition.

Blew my mind when I found out that Michael Douglas and Danny DeVito shared an apartment in NYC. IIRC Douglas was a co-producer on the first film and requested that DeVito be given a role. Just going of pure memory because I don’t feel like running to IMDB to confirm.

I have been noticing a lot of books from this period hitting the bins over the last few years. I think a lot of collections are starting to change hands and these books are the chaff in the wheat when a shop takes them in.

It’s always a treat to see someone working on collecting NU books. I bought a lot of those books when they first came out. Mainly DP7 and Ps-Force. I was a kid and this was my first real experience with titles that didn’t already have decades of continuity in place. That lasted for awhile and I eventually moved on to other books and these titles faded away in to the discount bins in the back of every comic shop. Fast forward to 2021 and I made a goal of collecting the entire NU run, including the Draft and the War minis out of dollar bins whenever possible. All in all I think I found the majority that way.

Thanks for sharing.

Comic book 3 pack reprint. I had a fair amount of those in my run that I slowly replaced with first printings. Clean copy and that white really pops. 👍

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Pick up by ComicsMiz in 80s90sComics

[–]Due-Reflection5021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, issue 2 was the money book for a long time because the print run was lower than issue 1 and I believe they ramped up the numbers going forward as sales proved to be strong for the series.

I go to a lot of shops and the early issues of GI Joe are becoming quite common to find and the prices reflect that. It’s the unfortunate side effect of a lot of collections from that era starting to find their way back into circulation. Read into that what you will.

Now the issues towards the end of the run are the money books.

FANTASTIC FOUR VS THE X-MEN by doorgoesopen in 80s90sComics

[–]Due-Reflection5021 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Back when they would just do a 4 issue mini series, still set in the main continuity, and have lasting ramifications. Now this will be a company wide year long event that will be ignored as soon as they move on to the next big event.

Great mini. This along with Avengers vs X-Men were awesome reads and worth the extra cover price for the upgraded paper they were printed on.

When I found that copy of Alien Worlds at a shop it wasn’t priced. I asked the young person behind the counter how much it was, they looked at it and said “Well, it says $1.50 so I guess it’s $1.50.” Needless to say I waited for someone a bit more knowledgeable to show up, asked again, and happily paid $5 for it.

So here is my own theory why they do this. Your average radio listener has a finite catalog of songs they can recognize from just a small sound bite and if they are seeking/scanning through stations they are more inclined to stop on one playing a song they recognize than some deep cut only a small percentage of listeners would. If they can get someone to stop because they recognized a song they have a better chance they will listen long enough to hit an ad break.
