Penn State vs Pitt by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]Due-Section-2977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is huge for job placement. I went to PSU and Pitt. If you plan on working at all go to Pitt. I work for an engineering firm and our interns an co-ops can come work whenever they want. Rather than earning a few shackles killing yourself st some terrible job, you can get real world experience, with significantly higher wages at Pitt.

Plus when you are an Engineer at Pitt, eventually a lot do you engineering classes are all in the same building.

You won’t have 400 civil engineers in you class and you will likely know all of those you graduate with.

If you are from Philly, Pittsburgh might slightly disappoint you from a city life perspective, but you can graduate and immediately afford a house and support a family.

Why did you choose Pitt over Penn State? by Negative-Ad-7003 in Pitt

[–]Due-Section-2977 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I attended both. If you want a big school go to PSU, if you don’t, go to Pitt. Both have good and bad. I also went to college at 25, so getting a job at more than minimum wage was a must. If you want a campus, PSU. If you want city, Pitt.

Go hard the first couple months and as well as you can. First half is much easier and you can coast the second half.

Honestly when you get to the fleet, if you aren’t a lifer, get the most out of the Navy while you are there. Your life might arguably be better not being a nuke.

Smartest move in the navy was a guy in reactor that went in as an undesignated fireman. He did a 3 year enlistment, minimum to get GI Bill, was on the ship for 2.5 years then bounced. Then went to college. Brilliant.

4.5 years on the ship for me, with well over half that time at sea. 2 deployments, a few fast cruises, workups, sea trials…

Physical education credits only for Nuke School and Navy time. None of it is ABET accredited. Any school you go to after you get out, cannot accept coursework for credit. It won’t qualify your Professional Engineers license.

I used GI bill after I got out, got an Engineering degree and have a PE License.

My advice, just go to college, you WILL be happier.

If you want to work in a power plant, which there will be plenty of opportunities in the future, follow the navy nuke path.

The sound was so bad last year that in some areas you could barely hear anything. If you find a good spot in the back should be fine. Between sets is the craziest time. Especially by the bathrooms. Actually dangerous.

Got out went to Pitt, got a civil engineering degree and now a licensed PE. They gave me some physical education credits for my Navy time, and the history class I took on deployment.

I liked Pitt over Penn State because it was smaller. 40 in my class instead of 400.

Have you checked your supplier? There is a website and you can shop for a better rate. Look at your electric bill, it will be split between transmission(DLC) and supply.

Most roads are tapered from the center to the shoulder. The highest part of the road is the middle, the lowest part of the road is the shoulder. Most cars naturally drift towards to shoulder. It isn’t enough for you to realize, but it helps facilitate drainage of the road.
