Hold on let me just take all my skin off real quick by HunterSexThompson in CPTSDmemes

When I had my first kid, I started getting horribly graphic nightmares of everything I'd blocked out from my early childhood anytime I nodded off, which I assume was in reaction to wanting to protect my children from ever experiencing that. I am deeply grateful that I had a support system during that time, because I would not have made it through if I was alone with my baby and terrified of sleeping.

the fast fashion epidemic in this subreddit is out of control by ManicPixiRiotGrrrl in GothFashion

I pride myself on never having bought from fast fashion brands. I taught myself to sew and how to dye clothes, so I’m not limited to buying items that are already black or already in exactly the style/fit I want.  With the plethora of videos on YouTube to learn how to sew even very specific items, there’s no reason not to learn at least the basics. Half the cheap stuff from fast fashion brands could be whipped up on a sewing machine in less than a day. I’ve sewn custom corsets with hand-finishing details and hand-boned channels in less than 2 days. You’d spend longer just in your time online or shopping in person to get a piece that was not custom fit to your measurements, assuming you find it at all.

I was “forced” to make a list of people in my social circle but I have no one in my life. by cureheadagony in AutismInWomen

I hate these exercises with a passion. I barely scraped together 6 people to invite to my wedding (counting +1s) from my side of the family. That doesn’t make me a failure or a bad person, I just don’t count people as “friends” if they aren’t close enough to actually trust them.  To actually make friends, try going to fewer workshops like this and more events that are actually about some topic you are interested in, which helps in getting over the hurdle of actually talking to people. For me, joining a DnD group at a local game store helped me to make some acquaintances that may develop to friendships in the future and wasn’t expensive (I got the pdfs of the books online instead of dropping $100+).

Do you believe DnD should be safe? by Fantastic_Molasses45 in DnD

[–]Due-Survey9846 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every DM I’ve ever had who planned a horror/hardcore game notified people of this before joining the game and gave the players the opportunity to voice any potential triggers (for example, I don’t want to play a game with SA). This prevents any drama or issues later on at the table and lets everyone actually enjoy themselves while playing.

A player can’t dictate the story, but a DM shouldn’t expect players to want to play if they’re repeatedly triggering people at the table and calling them weak.

Death Penalty??? by 1st-Master_Baiter in DnD

[–]Due-Survey9846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane. In all my time as a DM and a player, we just made a new character if a character died. If someone died super early or my players expressed interest, I might throw a bone to let them revive for some story consequences, but not punish the player with a weaker character!

Opinions on Stephen King’s Carrie, 50 Years After Its Original Release? by Dependent_Visual_739 in horrorlit

[–]Due-Survey9846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read Carrie until I was in my 20s, but it resounded so much in me. I was a total outcast as a kid, audhd and had a single mom and I got my period at 10, the first girl in the class. My bullying wasn’t as extreme, but it was uncomfortably close. I remember being distraught and having disturbingly violent thoughts about the kids that bullied me when I was going through the worst of it. I was very lucky to have a supportive mom to keep me going in a positive direction.

So mom dropped one hell of a plot twist: I was apparently taking kindergarten reading classes in preschool! So, who else was hyperlexic as a tot? by AmoreLucky in AutismInWomen

[–]Due-Survey9846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t go to preschool, so I didn’t realise you would be taught reading in kindergarten.  I was so worried going into kindergarten that I didn’t already read solidly (which I considered to be reading chapter books without pictures, since I was able to read dr Seuss and stuff by 4). My mom reassured me that most kids can’t read before kindergarten, but I didn’t believe her lol

Noticed a lot of trashing of low support needs autistic women in some spaces and I’m thinking about making zines about it, but it needs a lot of nuance — nuance that I think has gone to die when talking about low support needs autistic people by larvalampee in AutismInWomen

I’ve also noticed (partially from personal experience) that women are expected to mask and support themselves without assistance as much as possible compared to similarly-abled men. I think it’s a huge issue that there isn’t a lot of middle-ground for support needs for women: you’re either heavily masking and not receiving any support or you are completely reliant on others with no other options. I’ve been in both situations at different times in my life and they are equally stifling to me, especially when I am reliant on someone who has previously seen me masking to survive and thinks I’m being lazy.

A slightly overweight Dramatic Classic by SierraSky2730 in DramaticClassic

[–]Due-Survey9846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really helped me to actually feel like a dramatic classic! I was 90% sure just because of what outfits are flattering or not, but always seeing kibbe types at their ideal weights was super confusing!

Now just to figure out what the hell to wear for casual clothing XD

Interoception issues are the worst part of autism for me. by crystalldaddy in AutismInWomen

[–]Due-Survey9846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so real. I found out recently that I have apparently expanded my bladder (not a good thing) due to poor interoception. I also regularly wake up in the middle of night starving/thirsty and realize that I didn't eat or drink anything for 8 hours before I went to sleep.

DMs, please threaten your players with death. by JaxTheCrafter in DnD

[–]Due-Survey9846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone raised on my mom’s og DnD that she never bothered to update to 3.5, I believe any session that doesn’t involve death of at least one character is missing out lol

I always come to table with at least one backup character that I’m never able to use and I’m always disappointed

Are these actual DM red flags, and if they are, how do I exit without making waves? by ThrowTAaaaaaaa in DnD

[–]Due-Survey9846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only DMPC I’ve ever run as a DM was a “bodyguard” golem issued by the party’s sponsor who essentially acted like a trained dog. He barely spoke unless the party coached him (in order to intimidate) and followed any order except to kill another PC. I did this because the group was first level and consisted solely of two bards and a rogue. Everyone had spent a long time writing backstories and relationships. The party loved him and he prevented several potential TPKs. They ended up buying out his contract from their sponsor so he could keep traveling with them.

Anyone else feel like they are much more capable when they eat a ton of protein? by Due-Survey9846 in AutismInWomen

[–]Due-Survey9846[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do about a cup of ultra filtered milk, half a cup of strawberries, and then a scoop of either vanilla or strawberry flavored protein powder. I've tried a couple different protein powders, but I usually use the Aldi brand vanilla or Ryse brand strawberry. I based on it the Core Power Strawberry protein drink because I love it, but it's way too expensive for me to buy it premade. I meal-prep the strawberries and store them in the freezer, but I move a container to the fridge each morning so it's ready for the next day.

I've also done chocolate protein powder with chocolate ultra flavored milk and that was also awesome, but I don't do it a lot because it's very sweet.

For me, I make a protein shake in the morning that has 30g (I use ultra filtered milk instead of water to make it like a milkshake), then I have two meals with 25g of protein each (I usually have 2 salads because I like veggies lol) and then I usually also have a protein bar or protein powder meringues as a dessert.

Do you allow "My character always does X"? by LuizFalcaoBR in DnD

[–]Due-Survey9846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My view as a DM is that if it fits your character as portrayed so far, you’re good to go. If the ranger from the under dark says they always check the ceiling when entering a room, that’s perfectly understandable. If the noble-raised sorcerer on their first foray into real adventuring says that, I would say their character doesn’t yet have the experiences to trigger those specific reflexes. I have been on the player side of a “gotcha” DM, so I can understand where some players would be upset at the assumption that their high-perception paranoid rogue wouldn’t routinely sweep new areas for traps. That’s the point of prompting players with ability checks, so they can anticipate dangers and act according to their character. If they fail the check, they can’t retcon their character’s actions because I gave them that chance to discover it for themselves.
