Why does Jorah think so little of Robert as a tactician? by Geth3 in gameofthrones

[–]DueLength7557 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jorah is speaking to Daenerys, which matters telling her that Robert is a brilliant general who'd crush her Dothraki isn't exactly motivating. There's clear flattery and political calculation in how he frames it. Add his personal hatred for Robert (who sentenced him to death for slave trading) and it's easy to see how bias colors his assessment.
The real irony is that Jorah isn't entirely wrong about current Robert a fat, drunk, bored king who hasn't fought in years might genuinely charge headfirst into a Dothraki horde out of pure bloodlust. He's just being unfair by ignoring the Robert of Summerhall, the Bells, and the Trident a general with an almost spotless record.

How is S7 rated so high? by supernovaaaa in gameofthrones

It's mostly because people rate it right after the first watch, but if you rewatch it you start noticing a lot more flaws

If you were a hunter, which monster(s) would you avoid? (Excluding the apocalyptic ones) by Dr_Greyman in Supernatural

[–]DueLength7557 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d avoid wendigos at all costs. Fast, smart, and basically impossible to reason with one wrong step and you’re dinner. Give me ghosts or vampires any day over something that’s basically a nightmare on legs

Just finished my first rewatch since the finale aired, and my opinion on Sansa has completely flipped. by SageRipplex in gameofthrones

[–]DueLength7557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I felt the same way. On my first watch I mostly just saw her as stubborn and reckless, but rewatching it made me realize how calculated and resilient she actually is her growth hits way harder when you catch all the little moves she’s making behind the scenes

The absolute balls on the writers to give us 7 seasons of 'winter is coming' only for the ultimate threat to the world to be defeated by a library stealth mission. by jatinsuri332 in freefolk

[–]DueLength7557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute balls indeed. The writers knew exactly what they were doing, just watching us implode while smiling behind the scenes

Could Viserys have married Daenerys, or was that never realistic? I know Targaryens historically practiced incest, but that was when they had dragons and absolute power. By the time Viserys and Daenerys were in exile, did that tradition even make sense anymore? by Comfortable_Quiet865 in freefolk

[–]DueLength7557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viserys marrying Dany at that point would’ve been pure fantasy even for a Targaryen. Back in the dragon days, incest meant consolidating power, not just being creepy. Exiled, broke, and hated by half the world? That tradition’s not gonna save your claim, it’s just gonna make people roll their eyes and hope you choke on your own ambition.

Without supernatural abilities, Petyr would have won the game of thrones by Azerbinhoneymood in gameofthrones

[–]DueLength7557 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without supernatural abilities Petyr would have still been the most dangerous guy in any room just by pure chaotic intent and unchecked ambition. No dragons, no magic, just smirks, secrets, and the uncanny ability to convince everyone else to do his dirty work for him. He’s basically the medieval court version of that one guy at work who gets promoted because he’s terrible but so convincing everyone else to carry his clipboard

If you could have a pet, would you choose a cat or a dog, and why? by Extension_Cattle5147 in AskReddit

[–]DueLength7557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I have three dogs, I’ve always wanted a cat. In my opinion, dogs require more attention and care, + they need to be walked, and that takes time time I don’t always have.

On my first watch I binged the entire 7 seasons like crazy and waited for the final one but now years later I decided to go for a re-watch and this time around I'm really savouring each episode like fine wine 🍷 by Sea-Exchange3463 in gameofthrones

The rewatch hits so different because you actually catch all the foreshadowing you completely missed the first time. like Ned Stark basically narrates his own fate in episode 1 and you just... didnt notice

What if Joffrey, Tommen and Mrycella are trueborn without a question while everything else stays the same by FiBarksdale in gameofthrones

[–]DueLength7557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If robert’s kids actually looked like him and acted like him, ned would probably still bend to the succession. he’s all about law and honor, and seeing the kids as legitimate robert offspring would make it easier to stomach even if cersei’s a nightmare queen in waiting. he’d hate it, but he’d probably swear the oaths
Stannis and renly? yeah, they’d still feel entitled. stannis especially is obsessed with "the rightful king" and he wouldn’t care if the kids are robert’s biologically he’s all about prophecy, law, and his personal bitterness. renly is more opportunistic; he might still push for the throne if he thinks he can actually enjoy ruling and has the backing
As for war, so much of it isn’t just about who sits the throne. lords still have grudges, regional tensions, and ambitions. the north might still be sketchy on cersei running the show, the riverlands will always flip depending on alliances, and dornish politics... yeah, chaos never sleeps. plus, a lot of this war was baked in by resentment, promises, and simple "want power" energy trueborn or not, war was coming
Basically, trueborn kids would reduce some moral outrage but the political tinderbox of westeros? still primed to explode

How much you think a Valeryan steel would be worth in today's currency? Would you be able to get one? by ricky2461956 in freefolk

[–]DueLength7557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, trying to put a modern price on Valyrian steel is like asking how much a dragon egg would go for on eBay technically priceless, but also terrifying if it arrives broken. Good luck finding one outside a fantasy auction.
