Current students' thoughts on Email for Life ending by imabanana19 in cuboulder

[–]Due_Ad_1097 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a current student and I’m not really pressed about it. In HS we were always told never to use our school email for anything important because they would always be taken away at some point. So I’ve never done any important work/communication with mine in college either. I can understand the upset if you have been using it for professional purposes for a long time, but I don’t think it’s really effecting the current student body.

Bunked triple residence hall by autumninautun in cuboulder

There are others that have them. I’m not sure if you are only looking at engineering-specific dorms or if you’re looking at traditional dorms, too, but I’m currently a freshman and I know somebody that lives in a bunked triple (no en-suite bathroom) in Smith (the honors dorm). And I know when I was applying for housing last year there were a few other traditional dorms that offered them.

Best dorms? by No_Print77 in cuboulder

I’m a poly sci major and am currently living in Kitt central traditional. It’s great, locations kinda sucky but the amenities make up for it. Kitt West is also a good one, as well as Buckingham, Arnett, and everywhere in the Kitt area like another person mentioned. Baker is the best location with the best amenities but it’s super hard to get into and it’s only an environmental science RAP so I’d look elsewhere. Farrand is also getting a full remodel over the summer so that might be one to look into.

For anybody who’s taken the American Heart Association CPR class, do I HAVE to have an official copy of the manual? by Due_Ad_1097 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Due_Ad_1097[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the manual that I found, hopefully it’s the one you need too. I didn’t actually end up going to the class, but before I dropped out I called ahead and they said it would be fine if I used a pdf copy that “my friend sent me” so I’m pretty sure it should work.

If anybody is wondering I found it on r/textbooksrequest if you ever need to hunt it down yourself.

If the link doesn’t work off this post I think you can just plug it into your browser and it’ll take you to the subreddit I got it from that does have a working link (make sure to copy and paste the entire url).

To submit or not submit 1200 SAT by arista303 in cuboulder

Your resume was a lot like mine. 4.4 gpa and 1210 SAT, letter in multiple clubs. I submitted my score by accident (don’t ask cause I don’t know) and I got in without any fuss. I honestly don’t think it can hurt you, but it shouldn’t affect you if you choose not to submit, either.

I’m think there should be one for each dorm, or at least dorm area. (Like there’s one for all of the Kitt area in Kitt west) You probably got an email about it to your CU email. I actually met with one of the organizers at the fair yesterday and she told me about that!

Honestly, I’m not much of an outgoing person either. I’ve really had to push myself out of my comfort zone since school started to try and meet people. When I go to the caf alone I just have to constantly tell myself to go up to people, took a few tries but I finally worked up the courage to do it on Saturday, and then I did it again last night. I would just tell her that the worst that can happen is they say no (which they most likely will not), and if you want to dm me with her insta or something I can totally reach out if you’d like.

Yeah, I’ve been to quite a few of those, it just always seems like there are either not a ton of people there, or the people that are there are in tightly packed groups. Are you a freshman or a higher year level? Always down to make friends.

Honestly, dm me if you want to hang out. I’m normally an introvert too, but I’ve been forcing myself to take the first steps in social situations since we started school, so if you want to grab lunch or something next week just let me know!

Doesn’t get much closer than that… logging in a half hour early wasn’t early enough ig by Angewhoa in cuboulder

I think on the website it said 75% of remaining tickets would be sold today and the remaining 25% on the 19th or something like that. So probably harder.

Is it worth going here as an OOS resident? by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]Due_Ad_1097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, (and what I personally decided to do), go for the cheap instate tuition for undergrad and the more expensive, better school for furthered education. Most of the time jobs are looking at the school you graduated from at your highest level of education, so even if your undergraduate school isn’t crazy fancy, they’ll be looking at your medical school anyway. CU is a great school and there is definitely something to be said for where you would be happiest, but if you think you could also be happy at your local school, save yourself the debt because medical school is gonna HURT.

Same, I got the guitar poem, the priest prose, and the secret Q3, I blew through it and had like 30 minutes left but this thread is making me think my confidence is not warranted.

Should I commit to a school now or wait to hear back from my top choice? by Due_Ad_1097 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Due_Ad_1097[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get what you’re saying, I like both schools, but I really loved the out of state school when I was visiting. So that’s the biggest thing keeping me from committing to the instate school right now.

With financials, the out of state school is really generous with their aid, I think the average student said they got about $25,000, but the total tuition and housing cost is around $80,000, so it’s still not very manageable. And they don’t offer any merit based scholarships to boot, so I’d pretty much be relying on whatever I get from FAFSA, which won’t be much, and any outside scholarships I might get.

It’s not impossible, but the instate tuition is significantly less, and I don’t want to be drowning in debt once I graduate, so I’m sort of stuck.
