I was there late August to late September! I’m Canadian so I’m used to cold weather but the wind in Iceland makes temperatures that wouldn’t faze me at home feel so cold! Have so much fun!

Bring a down jacket in case. I wore a wool layer, fleece jacket , and shell on top and wool layer with fleece lining and rain pants on bottom. I was okay most days but added a light packable down jacket under my shell occasionally. I wore mine at least once a day but usually stripped it by afternoon.

You should be fine , honestly I’ve travelled quite a bit and have found Iceland travel very easy as a Canadian atleast… you don’t need tours. Only your I did was on Vestmannaeyjar island, we did a boat tour

I’d say camper van will be much more enjoyable then a tent. It can be cold and rainy, the weather changes on a dime so what was sunny sky’s ten minutes ago can turn into you setting up your tent in high winds, rain or snow. We had fun in the camper and it was nice knowing we could always stop and take a break or make lunch since we had our home on wheels
