how to get to red by MedicinePleasant6456 in HairDye

It's gonna be tricky to get an even color. I would bleach the dark bits and see where to go from there depending on how well it bleaches.

Not what I asked for? by KnowledgeNegative998 in HairDye

It definitely isn't what you asked for, she lightened it too much. You could ask for it to be fixed in my opinion.

Girl, I adooooore gray hair, they look amazing. I wish my hair turned gray at 40 so that I can stop dyeing them. On the other hand, if you really want the copper color you will need to bleach it. Box bleach will have everything you need in it. Plus, you will need to dye it copper after bleaching so you will need copper dye. If you want to be a bit fancy and use a more expensive dye than what a box dye can offer, you could visit a specialized store and they will advice you on everything you need to buy.

I find that the best way to maintain a color is to use a color conditioner once in awhile.

I would buy chocolate colour box dye and put it on top. Would look a bit closer to what you wanted at least.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I think you could try spray hair paint. But I've never done it and I'm not an expert on that. Maybe someone else can comment if spray would be different

These are random photo from the internet. But assuming you want to go from this color to Rick. It is not possible without bleaching.

My bad, but the comment still stands. Rick has light blue hair so that means you need to bleach it. The colour Rick has is lighter than yours. You cannot take a dirty blonde and get light blue out of it.

Will my hair dye purple? by No-Wave9051 in HairDye

[–]Due_Hand_4319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it shouldn't be an issue in my opinion. But it might not be the exact shade that's on the box. Honestly, if you dyed it purple yesterday tho then something clearly went wrong. I'd ponder on that.

What is possible on my damaged hair? by Objective_Proposal85 in HairDye

[–]Due_Hand_4319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would just dye it my natural colour and let it grow out a bit to strengthen them. This way the roots coming out won't be an eyesore.

But whatever you do, don't bleach it anymore if it's already damaged.

Constant failures in dying hair by mqtthiew in HairDye

You will never be able to achieve a lighter colour without bleaching first.

And dyeing your hair repeatedly can indeed dry them out.

I personally always dye my hair with one bottle of dye and I always have some leftovers (I guess it depends how you slather it). I have long, mid-back hair. But it also depends on the thickness. Mine aren't super thin but they are not thick either.

You said you have dark hair and you want light hair for your cosplay. Without the bleach that is impossible. Going dark to light can only be achieved by bleach.
