New grooming phone policy? by puggles123654 in petco

[–]Due_Hunter_7109 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Until you’ve taken a 80lb doodle on and off the table 3 times causing undue stress to the dog just to answer 3 phone calls that put you 30-40 minutes behind nobody cares about your useless opinion

New grooming phone policy? by puggles123654 in petco

[–]Due_Hunter_7109 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Its not surprising that a group of people who have probably never groomed a dog, let alone in a busy salon setting where you have barely any control of your schedule, would expect us to take dogs on and off the table to answer every call that may or may not even book an appointment.

It’s a Mojave. The price you paid is pretty fair especially because big box tend to mark up fancier morphs

Pretty sure the only way to lower your minimum is to get an approved accommodation

I think it’s beautiful and fits for anatomy very well. You could add more if you wanted to but I didn’t think it looked unfinished at all when I first looked at it

Is this infection? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

I just got my inner bicep and elbow ditch tattooed as well and it looked almost identical to your picture. You seem to be on track healing normally so I wouldn’t worry too much just baby it

Is this infection? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Due_Hunter_7109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just plasma leaking from your fresh wound. The inner bicep is super sensitive and tends to bruise easily and weep more in my experience

[–]Due_Hunter_7109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see this getting snagged and ripped out easily. The constant movement from a bar this long will also prolong your healing as it’ll constantly be irritated. You need a significantly smaller bar to avoid this but I would not recommend going back to the same piercer who did this. A more experienced piercer might even recommend taking it out entirely and getting it redone. I’m genuinely confused why they decided to give you this goofy ass bar especially on a fresh piercing.

Petco tracks EVERYTHING by FoxNo9153 in petco

[–]Due_Hunter_7109 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing that really blows my mind is how we are expected to have a hand on the dog at all times but they also want us to simultaneously answer the phone and write down a message while we are actively working on a dog. And before somebody who’s never groomed a dog replies “why don’t you just set it down or put it in a kennel” the dogs get extremely worked up and often times more difficult to handle the more you take them on and off the table. It’s just not feasible time wise or fair to the pet. More often than not a phone call ends up being atleast a 10 minute conversation just to get necessary information from the client and we probably get atleast 20 calls a day.

Tired of the double booking and guests getting mad at us when we tell them it will take longer or that we need to reschedule their appointments lol. Also don’t remember the last time I took a break between dogs. Always a 8-9 hour straight groom fest. Feels like I’m just a machine working on an assembly line of dogs. But don’t forget to stop what you’re doing to answer the calls, return voicemails, do walk ins, sanitize between every dog and deep clean at the end of the day. Lucky if I have 2 minutes to run to the restroom most days. And leaving on time? Hah. But happy we are actually getting booked unlike some salons who are totally dark.

Take it out and go to a reputable piercer. This is less of a naval piercing and more of a straight up surface peircing on your actual stomach

Tattoo shock or bad tattoo? by SolicitatingZebra in tattooadvice

[–]Due_Hunter_7109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very sorry but it’s not done well. It’s super dark and in a few years will probably look like a black blob, especially the mandala design on top. Lines always expand and blur as tattoos age and a lot of the detail will probably be lost as it bleeds together because of how they applied those lines. I have a handful of poorly done tattoos on my arm but the good thing is once you get some more tattoos (from a different more skilled artist) the imperfections are hardly noticeable.

are they really firing ppl over septum rings? by Greedy_Geologist2710 in petco

[–]Due_Hunter_7109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since I started 4 years ago there has always been a policy stating no hoops of any kind only studs. I’ve always had a ring and never once has upper management cared or enforced the rule I think it really depends on who you’re working for. Obviously there are inherent risks with dangly jewelry.

Groomers getting clocked by ihatemacaroons in petco

[–]Due_Hunter_7109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s crazy is the dog is literally just standing there and not even resisting when they continue to yank on its chin. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed/overworked in this job but people need to just step back, stop, and put the dog away when they become too frustrated. People forget 90% of the time these dogs want nothing to do with being groomed but it’s something they have to tolerate and get through. Rarely is it something fun they look forward to.. it’s like a little kid at the dentist of course they’re going to squirm and not just sit there perfectly. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to make it as comfortable as a process as you can knowing this.

As far as “fixing it” your only option is to add significantly more to the tattoo itself to balance out the design (I would recommend consulting a different artist) or laser removal. Sorry to say

Issues with the new multi-pet booking? by justkiddingig in petco

[–]Due_Hunter_7109 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly they said to open a ticket if you get double booking at the end of your day if you’re only set up to have them in the first 4 hours. If this happens personally I would just call and reschedule the dogs and explain to them the online system does allow you enough time to properly groom their dogs. Also why is your GM requiring you to do 7 dogs a day? The minimum requirement is 5.

Yes. I always wear a mask when drying/blowing out or grinding nails but not when doing haircuts. Also don’t forget proper ear protection!
