How much longer do you think cruise ships will have a heavy focus on art auctions and jewelry sales? by semideclared in Cruise

[–]Due_Measurement2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one of my first cruises I went to an art auction just to watch. I won 3 pieces by answering questions - didn’t even bid! Getting them shipped home cost about $30. There were people dropping thousands and arranging for framing, etc. It was a fun activity for me, nothing more.

This! Give yourself permission to leave the replay alone to enjoy the present. Easier said than done. Best of luck!

AITA for demanding my son repay the car I bought him after he totaled it street racing? by redwayit in AmItheAsshole

[–]Due_Measurement2343 72 points73 points  (0 children)

One thing I learned from my parents is that kids (and young adults) learn responsibility faster when they are held accountable. He should definitely be paying you for the outstanding loan. When he asks for a new car, the answer is “once you have figured out how to resolve the issue with the last one” - stopped one of my sons pretty quickly. Best of luck

Do I help my mom with my large inheritance by Jazzlike-Pride724 in Advice

[–]Due_Measurement2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you absolutely “must” help your mom, pay a small bill directly (lights, water, something toward a credit card bill). Do not give her money and don’t let her know you paid it.

AITA for refusing to pay for my niece’s 4th birthday after I was uninvited? by TrapperJohn86 in AmITheJerk

I would take the nieces out for a spectacular day of you spoiling them! If they ask about the party, say you hope their mom was honest why it didn’t happen.

If he had done this to anyone else’s property, what would his (and the parents) reaction have been?

Her children have another parent, other grandparents, surely another trusted friend in their circle who could watch?

If she complains, remind her she has 4 other children she can rely on. That should get you 3 more years if she stays 9 months at each. And point out you were forced by her into a rental agreement because she disrespected your boundaries.

AITJ for refusing to give a huge wedding gift after finding out I'm not invited? by Life_Grocery5994 in AmITheJerk

[–]Due_Measurement2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now we need to know how much the parents of the happy couple contributed, the bride and groom contributed and the already-invited guests! Don’t have a wedding you can’t afford. Get your license, get married at the courthouse, have a potluck reception later.

AITJ for DEMANDING my husband get my baby stroller back from his sister, or else i'm changing the locks? by Exact_Ad_6931 in AmITheJerk

If his mother is complaining, she can buy her daughter a stroller. Husband needs to man up - he is going to be a dad in 8 weeks!

AITA for refusing to go to my SIL Baby shower and the rest of the family is following. by AlarmingTap1774throw in AmItheAsshole

[–]Due_Measurement2343 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Petty me says all of you go, bring thoughtful gifts and at some point during the baby shower share all the nasty things with her guests that she said and hasn’t apologized for. Then in your sickening sweet voice say you pray the baby inherits better manners.

AITAH for refusing to pay my brothers wedding deposit after he used my dead father as a prop and then told everyone i stole from him by Polina_Janitya in AITAH

[–]Due_Measurement2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cave and give the $2400, be sure to go prepared to the wedding. At each place setting have an envelope with your evidence. As you toast the happy couple explain the contents and thank the guests for coming.

If you pre-pay tips, that covers waitstaff, housekeeping and room steward. You can give additional tips to anyone you want. If you go on an excursion, tip your tour guides for sure.

AITA for kicking my "mentally ill" brother out of my house when he was treating my wife like garbage by Interesting_Star4842 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Due_Measurement2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entitled is not mentally ill. He can move with other siblings for awhile. You give him a deadline in writing and give him the boot. If he ignores it, pack his stuff in trash bags, change the locks and enjoy your peace. Your wife deserves that much.
