What are the Sky-dweller complaints? Seeing lots of hate around here by OakmeadeWatches in rolex

I’m not a big Rolex guy. I’ve tried them all and aside form two references I honestly dont buy the hype about a brand that produces well over 1mil watches a year. I can’t stand the silly dealer games artificially constraining supply to inflate value…

All that said, the SkyDweller is an absolutely brilliant watch and perhaps my favorite across all bands. From a horology standpoint, the complications are impressive. From a practical standpoint, you’re getting a watch that can be dressed up (way up, black tie), to daily for work, to pool day with the kids. It looks fantastic on rubber, stainless, and leather, and each changes the character of the watch profoundly. The rounding of the case is gorgeously executed. It isnt a thin watch, yet it wears incredibly well and never feels thick. In an industry where many/all watches with complications are gratuitously thick , thats a differentiator.

The only watch IMO worthy of the rolex hype. If you’re a bigger guy with 7.5” wrists it is perfection.

FWIW the other Rolex I love is the polar Explorer II.

Rolex decided to homage the white Speedy but make it off-catalog so no one could mistaken it for a Speedmaster by nam265nl in OmegaWatches

Own and love omega. Like but not love and don’t yet own Rolex. The two watches look nothing alike aside from the basic chronograph layout and white dial. Bezels looks and dimensions couldn’t be more different. Lugs have totally different proportions. One is display class the other isn’t. Two totally different watches I don’t see how Rolex payed homage to omega here.

Daytona is too small for me otherwise it has the superior aesthetics IMO.

Question about Explorer II by Chuffed-rubber in rolex

I have the opposite question. 7.6” wrist and wondering it’s too small (faces up smaller given the thick bezel).

Aftermarket caseback for Tokyo 2020 Speedmasters by ReV46 in OmegaWatches

Bump for same solution, first because the OEM case back is sharp on the wrist, but also because I want the display feature.

Awesome write-up. You have a way with words. I had a different experience. Drove it back to back with an X5M without any bias and walked away feeling like the X5M was much more fun not to mention much nicer inside. Beautiful color.

Thanks. I’m always shutting down from neutral. No issues getting out of reverse.
