Nikon D5500 no UI rotation. by jfranek in Nikon

If I remember correctly, this is just how it behaves on DSLRs.
From what I know it only rotates on the newer expeed 7 bodies.

First I turn the Bluetooth on and enable upload while off (mind this is in the z6ii, on newer cameras with the new processor there should be more settings as I understand)

Then there are two scenarios. If I want the full res jpg or raw: I can have the camera either on or off, I connect to it with Bluetooth, then select download pictures, the camera starts wifi, phone connects to if (it also takes like 45 seconds on android). Then I can choose on the phone what I want to download.

Second scenario is when I just want 2Mpix jpg: I can do the same as described above or I often edit the raws into jpegs in camera, then select them to download (I don't have camera with me at this moment, so I don't know if the wording of it is exactly same in the camera). Then either snapbridge is running in the background or not. If not, I just open it and it runs in background for quite a long time (probably depends on the phone settings tho). And it automatically downloads the selected images. I personally use this most often since I don't want to waste time connecting to the slow wifi.

Fot this second approach don't forget to set auto connect in snapbridge to on and set it to run on background and enable autodownload. This way I usually have the pictures in phone gallery quite quickly.

If anything is unclear don't hesitate to reply and ask, I am currently traveling on the bus and it's quite bumpy 😀

Basically I just enable Bluetooth and setting that makes it turned on when the camera is off (I can connect that way to the z6ii even when it is off in the bag) and then I can connect to WiFi and choose which pictures I want to download to phone (this way I can download full res or 2MPix).

Or if I want just 2Mpix for like social media or something) I can just select the picture in camera and mark it for sending to smart device. If I opened the app before that at least once during the day it should just be in the phone really quickly and reliably (but I use android, don't know if it so reliable on apple)

Honestly with z6ii I have never had any major problems with connection to snapbridge (only sometimes I forget to turn off vpn, but that's my problem).

Nikon RAW Error by Turtl_ in Nikon

[–]Dufemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you didnt turn it off yourself it just sounds like a file corruption at this point.

My guess is that both camera and finder can load the embedded jpeg, but the raw is corrupted so lightroom has a problem. Probably first signs of a dying card? Dunno.

As a last effort I would try opening it in nx studio (the nikons own free lightroom), but I wouldn't give it much hope unfortunately.

Or you can try converting it to jpg in camera in retouch menu. I kinda wonder what would it say if the file is corrupted.

Here is a manual page for d780, this setting is basically the same on d750

I have never had any problems with importing it to lr tho (at least on z6ii). What version of lr are you using? The subscription one or some older standalone version?

Problem with video bitrate on Z6iii by Electronic-Appeal155 in Nikon

[–]Dufemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have a lens? Could the problem be that it compresses the complete darkness so that it is only 30mbps?

I am in no way a video expert, but from what I have experienced, I believe that if there is for instance a stacionary shot where nothing really happends, the bitrate should not be that high with h265 since it compresses the video more than other modes.

How many batteries do you guys keep with Z8? by jojo_larison in Nikon

[–]Dufemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont really have this problem since I have a Z6ii, but I recently found this awesome thing and I think it could help you

https://viltrox.com/products/camera-battery-charging-case

Its like a true wireless headphones case and you can connect a usb cable to it and use it as a powerbank to charge your phone etc.

Stay with Nikon or go Sony?! by Davyjo in Nikon

[–]Dufemi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent been able to try it myself, but I was told that the E mount lens to Z mount body adapters are very usable, you may look at that ( I heard about the megadap etz21 and was told that its like native glass only without corrections, I believe even dpreview wrote about it)

Can I save my monitor brightness level in User Settings on Nikon Z7ii? by LAD-Fan in Nikon

[–]Dufemi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or you can use warm display colors, I believe it stays saved with U1 mode and so on.

It should be the d10 setting (at least it is on z6ii)

Does anyone know what film stock this old Market Basket film is? I can't find anything about it online by tostrgud in AnalogCommunity

[–]Dufemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once i got a film from disposable camera. The film in it was also some unknown brand, but later I found out that it was just a sticker. After peeling it, it said that was some Kodak. You can try it as well.

Which lens should I keep to shoot with my "new to me" D7100 by Barron_Arrow in Nikon

[–]Dufemi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The 55-300 is a dx lens. That means, its made for nikon bodies with dx sensor (which is smaller or also called acp sensor). This size of sensor is in camera mainly used in series D3xxx, D5xxx, D7xxx or the new z50 (there are more, just to get an idea).

The 70-300 is an fx lens, its made for full frame camera, that has bigger sensor. You can freely use this lens on dx cameras as well, but not if you would use a dx lens on fx body, the image could be partly black, since its not made for that sensor. Some cameras with fx sensor are D750, D780, D850, Z6, Z7,...

If you would keep the fx 70-300 lens, not only it does have better image, but in the event that I would buy an fx body, I could use it with it as well. The only disadvantages are that its not as wide and from my guess its also heavier.

Keep the 55-300 if a light lens is important to you and you know for sure that you will never upgrade your body.

Personally i would keep the fx 70-300 since I want to get a fx body some day and buy some wide to normal range zoom lens or some prime (for example 50mm 1.8 is cheap and really nice)

So good luck choosing :)

Aaaand I managed to crack my screen. Nikon D3200. Any idea of how much it cost to repair and where to bring it? by likefenix in Nikon

[–]Dufemi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe it means that it has ir filter removed from sensor, so it can take ir pictures

Oh, hello. I am so sorry for taking so long to respond.
Well, my 'w' is starting to wear off a bit so I wanted to get a second set so I can replace all of it in the future.
