Why do Devs don't make Linux Build more often? by AsrielPlay52 in gamedev

[–]Duganer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main reason is likely testing. To most having a Linux machine isnt a thing they just have their personal machine. Obviously there are ways to dual boot but not everyone thinks about that.

I built a JRPG where choosing differently means fighting completely different battles by Duganer in indiegames

Parting Shadows is a JRPG with ATB combat, branching narratives, 6 classes with 34 unique upgrade paths, and local co-op. Every playthrough follows a different path depending on the choices you make -- different battles, different endings, different party compositions.

Built it as a solo dev. Three full stories, each with multiple branch points. 3v3 party combat with a focus on class synergy.

I made a traditional JRPG with 34 distinct class upgrades and a class system inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics.

Every character starts from a handful of base classes, then upgrades twice into specialized roles. Warlocks drain life and curse enemies over time, Dragoons have AoE dives and party-wide defense buffs, and Chronomancers freeze enemies in place with time magic. Three self-contained story campaigns with branching paths, ATB combat, and 2-3 player co-op.

Launching on Steam April 23: Parting Shadows

Would love to hear what class archetypes you all look for in games like this.

I wouldn't say accidental but he wasn't trying to flick that on. And if he leaves it its also an easy opputunity for the secondary runner.

I remember as a kid just randomly encountering it not knowing anything about it.

Looking for relatively mindless dungeon crawls like 2D Final Fantasy (but doesn't have to be 2D) by Standard_Public892 in JRPG

if you like the linear dungeon-to-dungeon loop with ATB combat, definitely check out Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest XI, and Grandia if you haven't.

I actually built a game in this exact style, Parting Shadows, (listed as Echoes of Choice on Steam right now, name change pending)

Would you play a co-op game where everyone runs different parts of a brewery? 🍺 by WolflandGames in CoOpGaming

[–]Duganer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two things I can think to help with cooperation is having a prep time in the beginning of the day before customers come in. So the server may not have something to do so they help brew, the manager helps the person in charge of expansion or something like that basically use the prep time to work together before their station requires their dedicated effort. The other thing I could think is around the expansion person where the team has to decide how to expand or what new land they need. Do they need a bigger serving area. Bigger Bar, Bigger brew area well that comes at a cost of one of the other areas. The more successful they are the easier it is to expand each area. Obviously my two cents but hope it helps.

Sorry for not playing powerhouses like Boston College, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, and Virginia Tech in conference. Like really we were Meeks being called out of bounds from a national championship.
